Kankri x Reader
You sat fiddling with your thumbs. Your leg was bouncing as you got lost in your thoughts. Today you were supposed to be hanging out with your friends Porrim, Aranea and Mituna, but apparently they also invited a certain red blooded troll that you carried a pretty intense flush crush on. For some reason, the red turtleneck wearing troll had grown on you and you couldn't help but find his rants adorable. So here you were, still waiting for him an hour later.
"He can't 8e too far away, don't worry about it (Y/N)."
Aranea placed a hand on your shoulder. She could sense your stress and stepped in. That was one thing that was so amazing about your friends. You've had anxiety since you were little, and it didn't seem to go away even now that you were in the dream bubbles and no one could get hurt here. You were expecting them to go away after you told them about your anxiety, but they didn't. In fact they helped you with it.
"Maybe he's dead," Porrim laughed. She instantly slapped a gray, manicured hand over her mouth after she realized what she had just said. "O+h my go+g, no+."
Aranea death glared Porrim from across the room, but had to stop as soon as she realized you had begun to hyperventilate. Your thoughts had started to go at a mile per hour. You knew that when you first got to the dream bubbles, Damara and Rufioh were still fresh from their breakup and often ended up getting into heated arguments which ended in terrible fights. No one could auspitise for the two of them, otherwise it would get deadly. That was exactly the problem, Aranea had told you no one could get hurt in the dream bubbles, but Rufioh ended up bleeding on the floor of Porrim's hive after Damara had pushed him down the stairs. That was the first time you had seen Porrim so furious and one of the trolls you cared so much about hurt.
You could feel hot tears spilling out of your eyes as you curled in on yourself. Aranea wasn't sure what to do now that you were shaking violently.
"Porrim, call Kankri, tell him to get here now."
Porrim nodded and began to dial Kankri as fast as she could. Mituna seemed utterly confused as he and Aranea tried to comfort you. He tried everything he could, including shoosh papping, but it didn't work.
Kankri walked through the park closest to Porrim's hive. He was supposed to be meeting Porrim, Aranea, Mituna and (Y/N) at Porrim's hive to spend some time together an hour ago, but here he was an hour late after he had to stop in the street to teach Cronus about consent. Cronus was way too old now to still be pulling those tricks. It wasn't okay anymore although it never was, and he needed to teach the violet blood basic respect.
He was admiring the trees and the peace and quiet of the park before his phone began to buzz loudly in the brown, leather satchel he had bought. He stopped on the side of the path to answer his phone and sighed loudly when he realized it was Porrim. She was most likely about to nag him about being too slow. Even though he thought he had predicted what the call was about until he answered it and heard three voices instead of one. Mituna was shoosing loudly in the background while Aranea was asking someone if they could hear her. Kankri's eyebrows furrowed as he attempted to hear everything that was going on on the other side.
"Kanny I'm so+rry, but yo+u need to+ sto+p whatever yo+u are do+ing and get here now!" Porrim sounded extremely stressed and worried. It made Kankri's heart race and instantly he felt the need to know what was going on. He began to walk to make sure he wasn't falling behind.
"I'm very s9rry I'm n9t there already," Kankri huffed. "I will explain why I am late later 9n."
"Kankri It's no+t abo+ut yo+u being late," Porrim growled. "I fucked up bad Kanny, and no+w everything is go+ing do+wn hill."
"What d9 y9u mean 6y that?" Kankri began to speed up as he walked past park benches and trees.
"(Y/N) is o+n the flo+o+r shaking and crying and we're trying everything and it's no+t wo+rking!" Kankri could hear Porrim's voice wavering. "I said so+mething really stupid and no+w she's having a panic attack."
"9h n9." Kankri gasped.
Aranea stepped up to Porrim and took the phone from her to speak to Kankri. She had a feeling Porrim wasn't getting across how urgent this was.
"Kankri, you need to get here right now, this is serious, and no one will 8e a8le to calm her down except for you."
"I will 6e there as s99n as p9ssi6le."
Kankri quickly hung up and shoved his phone into his satchel before he began to sprint in the direction of Porrim's hive. He no longer cared about anything else but reaching (Y/N). He knew the girl had a flush crush on him due to Porrim's inability to keep quiet when it came to the topic, and to be honest, he felt something for her that he knew he shouldn't. His celibacy vow would be broken in seconds just to be her matesprit, which only made it difficult not to feel like he was dying when he heard she was dealing with the horrible anxiety attacks she seemed to always get.
Porrim looked out the window of her hive to see the nubby horned troll she needed most right now. To her surprise, a look of determination was written on his face as he sprinted down the pathway. A few moments later her hive door was swung open violently by the usually polite troll, and seconds later he was there in her room.
Kankri didn't say a thing as he walked towards (Y/N). He dropped his satchel somewhere on the way as he stepped towards her and knelt down beside her shaking form. Aranea, Mituna and Porrim stepped away from the girl and let Kankri take over.
"I am s9 s9rry I was n9t here s99ner (Y/N)," Kankri grimaced. "D9 f9rgive me f9r this."
Kankri gave not a single trigger warning for what everyone was sure was the first time in his life. He quickly wrapped his warm and comforting arms around (Y/N) and pulled her close to his chest. He mumbled softly to her and rubbed her arm with his hand.
"I am here, it is all 9kay," Kankri whispered. "Y9u are g9ing t9 6e 9kay."
Silence fell over the room as Aranea, Mituna and Porrim watched from the other side of the room. Porrim still looked clearly upset, being the cause of the panic attack. Eventually (Y/N)'s crying and shaking stopped and turned to sniffles.
"W9uld y9u mind telling me what had y9u s9 shaken up?" Kankri asked, his voice still just above a whisper. "Y9u d9n't have t9 if y9u are n9t c9mforta6le with d9ing s9, I w9uld never f9rce y9u int9 anything."
You nodded into Kankri's chest, but before you could speak Porrim took over.
"She was stressing o+ut abo+ut yo+u being late, and I stupidly said maybe yo+u were dead." Porrim sighed.
"9h, well y9u aren't wr9ng, but we are all dead," Kankri laughed lightly. "9h, s9rry #menti9n 9f death."
"Yeah, but dead dead, like dead in the dream bubbles," Porrim explained. Kankri could feel the grip you had on his sweater tighten. "Like no+t co+-"
Aranea covered Porrim's mouth with her hand and shook her head. Kankri looked down at you and noticed you cried onto his sweater and caused it to have a patch of darker red on it. He didn't care at all, though you seemed to as you pulled away from him. He let go of you as you steadied yourself and sat beside him again.
"It's okay, I'm okay," You smiled weakly. Kankri returned your smile.
"#Physical c9ntact," Kankri's voice was still just above a whisper. "W9uld y9u mind if I hugged y9u?"
"Not at all."
Kankri wrapped his arms around you again and buried his chin into your hair for a moment. Porrim and Aranea whispered about something from across the room before something seemed to click in Kankri's mind and he lifted his head and began to speak.
"N9w P9rrim," You could feel the rumble of Kankri's words coming from his chest. "I 6elieve we need t9 talk. Y9u kn9w a69ut (Y/N)'s anxiety d9 y9u n9t?"
"I do+." Porrim looked guiltier then she had ever looked before.
"Then please f9r the l9ve 9f g9g, explain why y9u w9uld say anything that c9uld p9tentially trigger (Y/N). Y9u sh9uld kn9w 6y n9w h9w h9rri6le it is."
"Kankri--" Aranea stepped in.
"N9, n9 way, there is n9 excuse f9r this," Kankri snarled. This was the first time you had seen him so angry, and quite frankly you were glad you weren't on the receiving end. You weren't sure if you should stop him or not.
"Go+d Kanny, what has yo+u so+ wo+rked up, it's not like she is yo+ur matesprit o+r anything."
Kankri's anger seemed to be boiling up. Even though Karkat inherited Signless' anger, Kankri sure had plenty of his own.
"I wish she was!" Kankri yelled. He seemed to have absolutely no idea what he had just said or the fact that he had just yelled loud enough for half of the street to hear. He blushed an extremely vibrant shade of candy red before he unwrapped his arms from where they were around you and folded them over his chest, his face buried in one of his hands. Aranea and Porrim looked at each other, then Mituna before they left the two of you alone.
"You wish you were?" You smirked. "What happened to celibacy Kankri?"
Kankri seemed to blush even more as he rubbed his palm across his face. You laughed at how adorable the troll was being before you slid across the floor from where you had made yourself comfortable after Kankri had taken away the warmth of his arms to be closer to him.
"Trigger warnings may include but are not limited to," You moved your face so that it was closer to his. Kankri had stopped face palming hard enough to push his nose back into his face and now had a shocked look written across it. "#Physical contact #unexpected kiss #sudden movement--"
Before you could finish playfully and jokingly trigger warning Kankri, he had locked his lips with yours. You huffed, mad he bet you to the kiss but melted into it and kissed back when his arms wrapped around your waist again and pulled you into his lap. After a few moments, Kankri broke the kiss.
"Did I trigger y9u?"
