Kanaya x Female reader
You ruffled the fur of the super fluffy rainbow furred dog that had just found it's way over to your leg. It seemed pretty happy as it snuggled up on you for pats, but it's owners who were now scurrying over to get it away from you were the opposite.
"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry about that," The kind woman grabbed the rainbow leash. "She likes to go on adventures."
"Ah, a dog after my heart. Who doesn't like adventures?"
You smiled as the dog pawed at your leg. Some of the rainbow color had rubbed off on your calf. It added to the look you had going on. Today was your town's annual pride parade, and everyone went all out this year. Flags that represented all kinds of different sexualities and gender identities were turned into capes worn by people who were strong enough to be superheros, standing up against the bad guys who dared hate on them for being themselves and being happy. A few odd protesters stood around and complained, but no one let the close minded grumps get them down.
You had your own flag ties gently around your neck, which the dog was currently stepping on the end of and making itself comfortable sitting right by your leg. You gave the dog another pat and looked around for your cousin, who was the whole reason you came here. She was an ally, and an amazing one at that, who had forced you to come out of the house and meet someone. She was convinced you were the most lonely person in the world.
"Me, the only adventures I ever go on are the ones where I have to chase this mischievous little brat around," The owner of the dog gave you an apologetic look as she pulled her dog off of your cape. "I guess it's good exercise though."
"It must be," You laughed. "She's adorable."
"She definitely is," The woman smiled as a guy with a trans flag tied around his neck walked up to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. He had two trans flags tattooed onto his cheeks and his shirt read 'human' in bold blue letters. "But not as adorable as this one."
She booped what you could only assume was her boyfriend's nose. He replied by crinkling it and sticking out his free hand for you to shake.
"Hey there, I'm Adam," He smiled. "And this is Sarah."
"And that's our gay dog." Sarah pointed to the dog who was now sitting beside her owner.
"Oh, that explains the rainbow."
"Yeah, she likes these things as much as we do, which is why I'm convinced she's the gayest dog you'll ever meet," Sarah ruffled the dogs fur as well, only to get an entire hand of rainbows. "Hey babe, take this."
She proceeded to wipe her hand on her boyfriend's face, which now had a smudged rainbow all the way up the side. As if the rainbow hair dye in his hair wasn't enough rainbows, now all he'll ever be is a rainbow.
The couple exchanged numbers with you so you could catch up at some point. They were already pretty chill people, and seemed like they could be pretty good friends. Just as the adorable couple were walking away, your cousin finally returned.
"Phew," She stopped and placed her hands on her knees. "I found a restaurant we should try later on my way back from the bathroom."
The top of her '#1 Ally' shirt was completely clear from where she had been sweating. She just ran an entire lap around this place locating the bathrooms.
"Nice," You smiled at your cousin and pulled your flag out carefully from under her feet so she didn't trip on it when the both of you started walking. "Ready to go?"
"As ready as I'll ever be."
--Timeskip brought to you by the wonders of pride--
You finally finished walking the lap of town that was the pride parade. That was way more exercise than you needed to do, but it was so worth it. For some reason, you couldn't help but feel like someone was staring you down.
A troll girl with a bent horn and another girl with short blonde hair were staring at you and met your eyes sheepishly when you caught them. The girl with the blonde bob cut and the 'gay is okay' shirt on yelled out to you to grab your attention again and motioned for you to come and sit with them. The troll girl seemed uncomfortable and gave the blonde a stare of disapproval.
"Hello there, I'm Rose and this is Kanaya." Rose patted a stool beside you, asking you to sit. When your cousin walked over Rose turned to Kanaya and they both shared a look.
"Hey there, I'm (Y/N) and this is my cousin Ashley."
Ashley jumped up to sit beside you and muttered a 'yo' before looking at the restaurant menu. You scolded her for being impolite and tried to ignore her dismissive behavior.
"We noticed the two of you walking in the pride parade, may I ask what sexuality you are?"
You smiled at the polite girl who was sipping her iced tea casually. She had a vibe to her that was sophisticated and kind, almost like a therapist.
"Oh its the (your sexuality) flag," Rose nodded and looked over at Kanaya with a wink. Kanaya almost spat the strange colored drink she was drinking. "What about you guys?"
"We are both very much lesbians."
You nodded and waited for a waiter to come over to the table. He took your orders as soon as he was there and disappeared into the back of the restaurant. You looked over at the troll girl who had earned more of your attention than anyone here. She was attractive in her own special way, glowing light grey skin and fang like teeth that you found hard to get over. Luckily she was distracted glancing around the room at the others in the restaurant and hadn't noticed your gaze on her. A sharp jab you could only assume was an elbow to the side made you snap back out of your thoughts and into the conversation. You looked back over at your cousin who was smirking and winking at you.
If you weren't in a crowded restaurant right now you'd tickle her until she couldn't breath anymore for that one.
--Timeskip brought to you by polite conversations and Kanaya's adorableness--
"Well, Thank You So Much For Joining Us," Kanaya folded her hands on top of yours. It seemed like the group of you had been playing musical chairs all of lunch. Your cousin had taken quite a liking to Rose, the both of them having joined interests in knitting and multiple other things and decided they wanted to sit beside each other so Rose could see Ashley's phone. You assumed they were probably watching that stupid 'your a wizard Harry' video that made Ashley die of laughter every time she watched it. That left you sitting beside Kanaya, who you had found out was single and most likely interested in you, judging by how much contact she had made. There was a few times during lunch that she had done what she was doing now, slipping her hands onto yours and resting them there whenever the conversation got interesting. You certainly weren't opposed to it, but every time she did it, it made you flustered. "I Believe You Humans Have Quite An Attachment To Your Cellular Devices, So Would You Like The Number That Belongs To Mine?"
"Sure, let me grab my phone really quick." You smiled at the Jade blooded troll and reached down to grab your phone. When you had grabbed it out of your pride backpack and sat back up, you suddenly felt something crash into your rainbow colored lips.
It was another pair of lips, Kanaya's lips. Kanaya's soft, grey, perfect looking lips that you had wanted to kiss since the moment you first saw her, were now on yours. You closed your eyes and kissed back, dropping your phone onto the table so you could throw your arms over her shoulders. Her hands found their way to your face as she kissed you as subtly and as chaste as she possibly could in attempts not to gain any attention. Unfortunately for you both, Ashley was snapping pictures.
"I told you coming to this thing was a good idea!"
