Once they'd created the new universe, Kanaya and Dirk began talking due to their mutual relations with Rose and Dave. She often helped him with Jake, especially during the beginning while they were just starting to talk again. She even helped auspitize when Jane would step into the picture, counseling all three of them. This resulted in a close friendship between the Dirk and Kanaya, though it was often kept on the down low.
