The One Where There's A Lot Of Phone Calls And Pov Switches
Angelica's Pov:
OH THANK THE LORD I screamed internally.
"Uh, I-um, I-"
"Friday," Sally said still skimming through the papers.
"Yeah," I nodded, not being able to control my own redness.
John's Pov:
When we got to NYU half the damn place was in quarantine. I heard about the double homicide a couple days ago on the news.
Once we finally got in and was able to patch Alex up I left him and Maria to go buy a couple things.
I know Lex said he was gonna leave but nOt oN MY wATcH.
I'm not kidnapping him, I just don't want him to end up dead on the streets with no one to care. Well....maybe it could count as kidnap but..... actually no that's a full statement.
I went and got Alex some clothes because he can't spend forever wearing mine.
Maybe I should get him a phone too.
Does he want one?
Maybe I should buy a tablet for Frances too.
I took out my phone calling Maria.
"You guys almost done,"
"Well a hell-hell- hello to you too fucking dip shit," Maria joked.
"What did I do,"
"You've been gone for an hour, we wish to go home,"
"My home, not yours,"
"Oh fuck off, come pick us up,"
"I'm sorrY, I was buying Alex some clothes,"
"You could've done that after,"
"..."
Maria hung up on me and she was clearly mad. But I only left them for a little while. I don't know why she was so upset.
Maria's Pov:
Alex was conversing with someone I don't know but he apperantly did.
He just wouldn't stop talking.
After a while, it became annoying, the sounds from everywhere were annoying.
They were just too much sometimes.
Everything got worse when I got a call from Thomas.
"What?" I spat.
"No need to be rude, I just wanted to spill the piping hot tea,"
"Oh my god," I groaned.
Thomas was the equivalent of a ghetto Queens girl in high school. The one who always got into fights.
That was unless he was being professional.
"Do you want to know or not?"
"Of course, just make it quick,"
"Y'all know how Sal was upset and shiz with Angie. Well, the two made up. And of course in the most unbelievable way possible,"
"Which is-"
"Angie asked Sally out on a date," he whisper yelled.
I could hear Thomas's gum smacking in his mouth, I could picture the way his feet were up on the desk as he was on his supposed lunch break.
"Ain't Angie straight as a ruler?"
"A ruler that bends apperantly, I'm calling it now, my cuz gonna get her heart broke,"
"Worst comes to worst they end up enemies,"
"Worst comes to worst I'm gonna have to choose between my cousin and one of my closest friends,"
"Well-"
"Oops, I gotta go, bye bye," Thomas hung up on me making me groan.
You know what, I have better things to do I thought.
I saw the time and called John suddenly even more infuriated.
Alex's Pov:
The guys name was James, he reminded me of my older brother. Except this James was a doctor.
Not the Jemmy James I met who patched me up, it was a different James.
One who would speak rapid fire Spanish with me.
Just like my brother did.
Everything reminded me of my brother. When my mother died he ran away in search of help.
One way or another he didn't come back.
Too many people from the past keep making their way into my lives.
Soon enough it was time to go and I felt different.
Like in those old movies how when she first talks to the man she's gonna love and he leaves her after flirting endlessly and her hair blows in the wind while she stands in shock or satisfied.
It was like that but snow instead of wind and it's not the man I love, it's one that reminded me of my brother.
I miss him.
I was broken out of my trance when Maria started screaming.
"DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF," She yelled into her phone.
"Shush, I don't give a damn, you cannot go out with her. Number one she's fucking straight as a ruler and NUMBER TWO SHE'S THE REASON YOU WERE SAD ANYWAY,"
John sighed as we pulled up to the penthouse. He told us we could go up and Maria refused to stop yelling.
I said nothing and tried to ignore her by cooking.
That didn't work either.
John's Pov:
"Frances will be arriving in two days, that's the cheapest flight I could get surprisingly,"
"Two days?" I asked grabbing the bags from the trunk and slamming it shut.
"Tell me about it, her stuff is a mess and I only have half her bag packed,"
"What size is the bag,"
"Those big ones,"
"Checked bag?"
"Yeah, whatever, just-" Martha sighed.
"What's the matter?"
"Sometimes life is just too much, I can't handle this anymore, and as much as I would like to blame this all on you I can't,"
"Yes you can, one person can't make a baby,"
"Don't get me wrong, I love Frances, its just that I can't take care of her on my own,"
"And that's okay,"
"You promise you gonna take good care of her?" She asked softly.
"Promise," I smiled.
