chapter eleven: Comforting Cage
Her body was pained, yet (y/n) felt comfort. She felt a large muscular torso that she was leaning against. Her red-violet eyes opened slowly, she saw a fuzzy blanket over her. A light blue button up shirt that she was leaning on. Her eyes traveled up the button up, meeting pale skin. A strong chin. Thin lips. A nose that sloped a bit. Glasses and Icy blue eyes looking down at her. The muscular arm that was over her pulled her a little closer, "Lillasyster. Are you okay?" His voice was deep. The albino woman felt hypnotized by his eyes, icy blue. Yet she could swear she saw a ring of red around the pupil of the eye. A hand softly stroked her cheek to break her from the hypnotism, "Lillasyster."
The Scandinavian woman realized that this was her brother, Sweden. "Storebror.," she softly responded and got a kiss on her forehead. (Y/n) snuggled to the Swede's chest, he rubbed her back. "I was afraid you were never going to wake up.," his deep voice spoke, "I found you in the snow. You were very injured." "The last time I was hurt badly, I lost many memories.," the young woman spoke, "but, I'm glad I did not this time."
She sat herself upright and found it cold, save for the fireplace that burned in front of them. "It's so cold.," the young woman shivered. "Apologies. My heater unit needs to be repaired. I was using my own body heat to keep you warm.," the Swedish man spoke. He pulled her closer and wrapped his arm around her, leaning his head on hers, "Your body must be tired and sore from the damage it took." There was something hypnotizing about him. His voice deep and resonating, his eyes, how they looked kind and fearsome at the same time. "You need rest, I will take care of you until you are fully healed.," the blond swede spoke, "Let's keep you warm right now."
The albino Scandinavian leaned back into her brother and let her eyes close again. She took in his warmth. It was very comforting. She did not see a smile slowly creep onto his face. Nor did she see his teeth. She was so caught up in being comfortable in his grasp. His hand softly and gingerly petted her hair as she was cuddled up to him, the pain in her body slowly fading as she healed herself with magic.
Sweden placed another kiss on her head, "I have just the thing for a bitter winter such as this." He wrapped her in blankets as he got up. The blond left his sister on the couch, holding his hand up to tell her to stay. She obeyed, out of still healing herself and to obey her brother. She waited and snuggled into the blankets. Sweden came back with a pair of mugs, "I made some hot chocolate." (Y/n) sat up and took the mug he offered her. She took a sip of the rich and sweet drink. It was delicious, so smooth in its flavor. The icy blue eyed swede sat down. He took in the aroma of his drink before taking a sip, "Mmm. This is good."
(Y/n) had to agree. This was good. They were in a sturdy home. A fire was in the fireplace, a neat stack of wood beside it. The couch was large and comfortable, a muted pine green color that blended well with the stone and wood look of the rest of the house. On the mantle of the fireplace was an ornate clock that held the time. Pictures of the family sat proudly displayed. Artifacts from Swedish vikings lined the wall. Swords, axes, spears and shields. A Swedish flag hung on the wall to the right of the fireplace. On the left was the dining room. A large table wooden table was adorned with an ornate tapestry tablecloth and some decorations, silverware and plates were already set out. A coffee table sat in front of (y/n) and Sweden, it seemed to be made of a hardwood tree of some sort.
(Y/) saw a window in the dining room, the weather outside seemed to be nasty. Icicles had formed over the window, almost like the bars of a prison cell. She felt her brother wrap his ark over her again. "Thank you, Sve. This is very kind of you.," the young woman spoke. Her brother patted her back gently and placed down his mug. He took her mug after seeing her look sleepy. "It's okay. You can go back to sleep.," she heard him say as her head dropped onto his shoulder. Sweden smiled after she started drifting back into sleep. He carefully picked her up from the couch after wrapping her in blankets and carried her down the hall of his large home to a room for her. The room was comfortable enough. A luxury bed and everything a young woman might want.
She was set on the bed and tucked in. The cold that invaded the home would not invade her dreams with the amount of blankets and pillows that insulated her from the chill. Sweden looked to the window. The Icicles were there too. Like the bars of a cage. Sweden set her stuffed rabbit beside her. "Kanin... Så sött.," he murmured softly and left the room. He turned the lights off to the room and looked at the young woman that still lay on the bed. Her hair glowed softly, lighting her face and the bed up in a mute light,
She did look like a sleeping goddess. Sweden made a small smile and closed the door. "I'll need to chop more firewood.," the man spoke to himself and walked off. He took an axe from the wall in order to chop the firewood. He stepped out into the chilly day after putting his coat on. The wilderness around his home was dense, not many would be able to find him nor his sister out here. With everything that had been happening, it would be for the best to keep her away from everyone else. He had noticed a sharp change in the personalities and forms of his brothers. Darker eyes and hair, changes to their muscular and skeletal structure. Some of them even gained scars that were normally healed and left smooth skin behind.
His thoughts absorbed him before he realized that he had chopped all the logs, his eyes rolled over the wood that lay around him. He usually was more in control of himself, stopping with only what he needed. Now, he realized that the violence he felt when chopping the wood was something he liked. The swede wiped sweat off of his brow, he had not kept his strength in check either. His chopping block had split in half. Was he becoming infected by whatever it was that changed his brothers? If so, he had to be very careful around his sister. He did not want to hurt her, she was too innocent and pure. He could not let that innocence be tainted. Even if he had to cut her off from everyone else, he had to protect her.
Sweden gathered the wood he needed. He stacked the extra up next to the house to dry it. The blond man saw his reflection in the ice covered glass. His blond hair was tinged a strawberry blond color. His blue eyes had a red ring around the pupil. So he was infected like the others. He looked more similar to his disgusting 2p. Sweden's grip of anger shattered the log he held, blood dripped from his injured hand. The blood dripped into the white snow. He looked down to the snow and saw the blood turn the snow red before it turned black. His eyes widened a little, his infection was worse than he suspected. He had to control himself. He had to keep (y/n) safe from everything, even himself. He would not hurt her like his double did.
He used his tongue to feel his teeth. They were sharper. The canines especially. The swede grimaced, how, why? What the hell was happening that was making him more and more like his damned double? His teeth clenched together to the point his jawbone creaked. He had to calm down. He was not his double. However. If what he saw with the others was true, then he had to cut ties with Finland to protect his sister, as Finland was infected by Thurston's influence.
He saw movement in the window and picked up the wood to carry inside. The swede was met with the pale skin of his albino sister, "what are you doing up?" He noticed a sweet scent, it was like soothing lavender with roses and Chamomile. The scent was sweet as sugar and it came right from his sister. He had gotten worse in his infection, however he felt a greater affection. Her body was covered by her dress and the blanket wrapped around her. "I was scared by a nightmare...," the albino replied, "I wanted to see if you needed any help." "No, no, I have it. Although, if you want, you can start making something for dinner.," the icy blue eyed swede spoke.
Her red-violet eyes looked up at his, big and innocent, surrounded by thick and long lashes. He set the wood down next to the fireplace as he heard his sister follow him. Once done, he looked back, "Is there something wrong?" (Y/n) shook her head, some of her magic fell off of her like a fine shining powder. Sweden stood and was met by an embrace from the young woman, "Thank you, Sweden. For caring for me. I don't want to be a burden on you."
"You are not a burden.," She heard her brother speak. His voice was deep and slow. Almost sounded like a reverberation in it. Hypnotic. "Please stay, I fear that there are dangers out there.," he continued. She leaned onto his chest after listening to his voice. His large and strong arms wrapped around her.
"I will protect you from these new dangers."
