[The Benefactor]

Lilianna did her homework after she got home before heading off to the address of the party, graciously provided by Mason. She knew Liam wouldn't want her there but Mason had said that everyone was invited and so she didn't feel weird going.

Lilianna didn't expect the party to be so far away but then again it was at Lydia's lakehouse which obviously had to be near a lake. Lilianna blasted her road trip playlist drumming her fingers on the steering wheel when her phone buzzed, Brett's name appearing on her caller ID. Lilianna quickly pressed the answer button.

"Hey!" Lilianna answered, "What's up?"

"Lil? Did you seriously forget?" Brett sounded exasperated.

"Forget about what?" Lilianna asked.

"The movies? It's almost seven and you did say you wanted to get snacks before the movie which means you need to get your butt down here in the next ten minutes." Brett answered her.

"Shit." Lilianna swore, "Sorry. Liam's been acting weird and he's at this party and then I was invited and I just decided why the hell not."

"You hate parties. Ever since you got drunk that one time and passed out in someone's house." Brett reminded her.

"Yeah I know but it's been over a year and I'll be fine. I'm driving so no drinking but maybe I'll make some friends." Lilianna told him, "I'm sorry but could we reschedule for tomorrow night? I promise I'll be early."

Brett sighed, "Yeah, yeah. I just kinda wanted you here tonight. Good thing I didn't buy the tickets already."

"I'm so sorry. I'm just worried about Liam. He's relapsing." Lilianna groaned.

"He'll be fine. He's got you to look after him now." Brett reminded her, "Anyways, have fun. Don't drink and drive and don't hook up with anyone. And I mean it, Lil."

"Got it!" Lilianna answered, "I'm almost there. I love you."

"Love you too, obviously." She could almost hear him rolling his eyes as he hung up.

Lilianna noticed lights flashing as she pulled up to the address given to her by Mason. Unfortunately the whole street was basically full so Lilianna had to park further down the road.

Lydia opened the door when Lilianna knocked and a smile half appeared on her face, "Lilianna. I didn't know you'd be coming."

"I mean, we're not really friends so I didn't know to tell you whether or not I'd be coming." Lilianna said in a rather rude voice before she noticed her tone of voice, "Sorry, I didn't mean it that way."

Lydia's face didn't change, "No no. Well, I didn't really know this many people were coming either but come on in. Do you want a drink?"

"Do you have anything non alcoholic? I drove here so I really don't want to get pulled over." Lilianna sighed.

"I didn't order a keg yet so I don't have alcohol yet so a coke will have to do." Lydia explained ussuring Lilianna inside and slamming the front door shut.

"Yeah. Thanks." Lilianna nodded and headed for the kitchen while Lydia went upstairs. Lilianna had no idea where Lydia kept anything so she opened the fridge, trying to ignore the fifty or so students milling around the living room and kitchen and cranking up the music. Lydia was right. She really wasn't expecting lots of people. Lilliana grinned when she found a coke on the bottom shelf. She opened it before remembering why she was there. She looked around hoping to see Mason but she could only see Garett, one of Mason's friends.

"Hey Garett. Have you seen Mason anywhere?" She asked, leaning her hip against the counter. He had opened a bottle of wine which she was sure Lydia was not going to be pleased about.

"Who are you?" He asked, looking her up and down.

"Okay. Very funny. I'm Liam's sister and I need to see Mason immediately, so if you see him, please tell him I'm looking for him." Lillianna scoffed, not wanting to deal with his or any other freshman's bullshit.

Lilianna was about to leave when she saw a delivery guy push a keg into the kitchen. She rolled her eyes because she knew that Lydia didn't order it as she had just told her.

Lydia suddenly reappeared looking more exasperated than before, "Okay. I did not order a keg of beer. Especially not domestic."

"Someone ordered it. Are you trying to tell me nobody here wants to drink?" The delivery man asked.

Lydia rolled her eyes and noticed Lilianna and Garett before looking at her computer which had a wine glass sitting on top of it, "Who put this here? This laptop is $2000 and that bottle of wine is $400." She grabbed it out of Garett's hands, "Lilianna. I see you found the coke."

Lilianna took a sip from it, "Yeah I did. Thanks."

"How much?" Lydia asked the man who handed her the receipt, "What's this extra hundred dollars?"

"I call that the 'yes you do look 21 to me' surcharge." The man responded.

"Omigod." Lilianna rolled her eyes.

Lydia sighed and looked into the party before saying, "Let me get you some cash." Lydia ran to the stairs.

"I opened the wine. I should probably pay for the keg." Garett handed the man a bunch of money and the man left.

"Wow you're loaded." Lilianna looked at him curiously.

"Eh. Rich family." Garett shrugged and walked away and Lilianna knew he was lying but she didn't really care.

Lilianna finally realized that she'd have to look for her brother and Mason on her own. Lilianna decided to follow Lydia upstairs but she couldn't find her anywhere and instead found Mason whom she'd wanted to find anyways.

"Mason?" Lilianna asked as if she didn't know, "Have you seen my brother?"

"No. I was looking for him and then Lydia and I spilled wine on white carpet so I need to find some salt and club soda." Mason answered, "I don't know if he's actually here."

"Bullshit." Lilianna shook her head, "He came. I know because he called me earlier."

Mason nodded, "I mean, he's been acting weird lately. I'm kinda worried about him."

"Yeah me too obviously. Also why didn't you tell me that it was a mostly freshman party? I've seen like three non freshman here." Lilianna scoffed at her brother's best friend.

"I didn't know. I kind of invited everyone but not everyone came, clearly." Mason shrugged.

"Okay. Never mind. I'm not here to party anyways. Let's get that stuff for Lydia and find my idiotic brother. He's got to be here somewhere." Lillianna motioned for him to follow her downstairs.

Lillianna ended up leaving Mason behind once they'd found the items. She swore she saw Stiles and for whatever reason she knew she had to find him. Instead of finding Stiles she bumped into Kira, one of his other friends.

"Hey. Um, Kira right? Have you seen Stiles?" Lilianna asked her.

Kira looked at her funny before an expression of recognition crossed her face, "Oh Lilianna. Um no, I haven't. I need to find Lydia though."

"She's upstairs. And thanks." Lilianna sighed, just wishing she could find her brother and have this night end.

"I'm sorry." Kira apologized before running up the stairs.

Lilianna went back downstairs and just as she was going to give up hope she ran into Stiles and another girl whom she recognized as Malia. A smile appeared on Lilianna's face, "Stiles. Um. Have you seen my brother?"

"Wow you're an overprotective sister." Malia said in a condescending tone of voice.

"No. I'm just worried about him." Lilianna frowned at the girl, "And anyways, I wasn't talking to you."

"I haven't seen him. Sorry. Um, wow there are so many people here." Stiles looked around.

"Yeah. Where have you been?" Lilianna raised an eyebrow at him, "Anyways thanks a lot. No one seems to know where my brother is. Not even the people who've been obsessed with him for the past week." Lilianna rolled her eyes and pushed past him, or rather tried to but he held out an arm to stop her.

"He's not down there." Stiles told her, "Maybe try somewhere else."

"Wow. It's not like I haven't already done that." Lilianna responded in a sarcastic tone of voice which looked to make Stiles almost laugh.

"I'm sure you have. You're very persistent." Stiles said.

"Omigod, you're so not helpful." Lilianna glared at him before leaving, not wanting to talk to someone who didn't want to help her. Lilianna kind of wanted to be friends with Stiles but he and his friends seemed to push her away at every interaction. It wasn't as if Lilianna had gone out of her way to be nice to all of them but she hadn't had a large group of friends for a long time and she was a little out of experience when it came to putting herself out there.

Lilianna wove through the partygoers before walking outside to call her brother. The phone rang five times before going to voicemail. Lilianna sighed before speaking, "Hi Liam. I'm at Lydia's lakehouse and I just wondered if you were ready to go? I can't seem to find you and no one else knows where you are so when you get this, call me. I'll just be inside."

Lilianna sighed when the voicemail cut off. She didn't know what to do now as she was supposed to take him home and she didn't want to get in trouble with their parents, but there was no sign of her little brother anywhere and Lilianna didn't know who else to ask. She made her way back inside and grabbed a drink that someone was handing out. She winced at the strong taste of alcohol as it slid down her throat. She wasn't going to have more than a few sips but she was at a party and she clearly wasn't enjoying herself, so she had to take matters into her own hands.

She made her way onto the dance floor and swayed her hips in time to the music, grinning as she began to get into the flow of things. Time seemed to pass quickly and she kept dancing until she felt a tap on her shoulder. She whirled around, and almost fell over when she saw Scott.

"Scott. Hey. I didn't know you were here." She grinned at him, clearly a little tipsy.

"Woah. How much have you had to drink?" Scott asked her before leading her into the kitchen and pouring her a glass of water.

"Just a little. I'm not drunk." Lilianna insisted but grabbed the water and downed it.

"Good. Need more?" Scott asked her.

"Yes please. And um, why are you taking care of me?" Lilianna asked him, handing back the cup.

"Because it looks like you're here alone plus, I needed to talk to you anyways." Scott told her.

"Okay, what about?" Lilianna asked, as she took the next glass of water.

"Your brother." Scott said, "I found him. And I really think you need to take him home."

Lilianna nodded, "Thank you. Um, is he okay?"

"I'm not sure." Scott shook his head, "But he's really lucky to have a sister like you."

Lilianna smiled at him before drinking her water and heading out to her car where Liam was waiting.
