Grass Stains
Jungkook and his friends gathered on the baseball field, taking advantage of the canceled lecture that had freed up their afternoon. They lounged around, soaking in the pre-practice serenity. Among them, Namjoon and Jin shared an intimate moment, Jin nestled between Namjoon's legs, gently running his fingers through Namjoon's hair. Jungkook couldn't help but feel a tinge of envy at the adorable display of affection. Meanwhile, Yoongi animatedly recounted the previous day's mishap involving Bambam and a dropped bat, vowing retribution. Jungkook couldn't contain his laughter, even though Yoongi hadn't suffered any real harm.
"It's not funny, Kook. It fell on my good foot."
Jin chimed in, teasingly, "Can you even have a good foot? Like, you can have a good hand for writing and such, but a good foot? Really?"
Yoongi retorted, glaring at Jin, his grip on Namjoon instinctively tightening in defense.
Jungkook chuckled, thoroughly enjoying Yoongi's dry sense of humor. He took a sip from his banana milk and glanced up at the sun, but his view was abruptly blocked by a tall figure. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust, and when they did, they widened dramatically – it was Taehyung.
"Hi there," Taehyung greeted with his signature bright smile.
"Yoongs!" Jimin squealed, flopping onto his boyfriend's lap and planting a sweet kiss on his cheek. "You don't have practice until four, why are you here so early?"
"Lecture got canceled, so we decided to come early. Didn't expect to see you here, Minnie," Yoongi explained, wrapping his arms around Jimin's waist.
Taehyung turned his attention to Jungkook, asking playfully, "Do you mind if I sit on your lap? I'd hate to get grass stains on my uniform before practice even begins." Jungkook swallowed nervously but nodded in agreement.
Taehyung settled comfortably on Jungkook's lap, wriggling a bit to find the perfect position. Jungkook kept his hands firmly planted on the grass beside him, trying to control his racing heart.
"You can touch me, you know," Taehyung teased. "My skin won't burn you."
Jungkook's thoughts raced, and he nodded again, his voice failing him. Tentatively, he wrapped his arms around Taehyung's waist. Taehyung smiled at the gesture, feeling wanted in a way he hadn't in a long time. He turned back to the group, leaning back against Jungkook's chest with a contented sigh.
"Aw, you two look adorable together!" Jimin cooed loudly.
"You really do. You're like couple goals, and you're not even dating yet," Jin added, earning a glare from his own boyfriend, who believed they were the actual "couple goals."
Taehyung joined the conversation, playfully responding, "Yet? I only spoke to him for the first time yesterday." His laughter reverberated through Jungkook's chest, eliciting a small smile from the younger man.
Jimin couldn't resist teasing. "Yet you're already sitting on his lap."
Taehyung explained, "To avoid the grass stains, Kookie here is just being a gentleman," patting Jungkook's thigh lightly.
Jimin giggled into Yoongi's chest. "Kookie? You've already given him a nickname?"
Taehyung playfully defended himself, "You know how much I love giving people nicknames. It helps me remember their names better."
Jimin decided to drop the subject for now, fearing he might embarrass Jungkook further. Instead, Taehyung inquired about baseball, his fingers unconsciously stroking Jungkook's thigh, sending shivers up the younger man's spine.
Jin attempted to explain, "Well, it's kind of hard to explain without demonstrating. Maybe you should come watch a game sometime."
Jungkook seized the opportunity, adding shyly, "We have a game on Friday. Maybe you could come watch us play then?" He held his breath, hoping Taehyung wouldn't decline.
Taehyung turned slightly, his face closer to Jungkook's than expected. "I'd like that," he said with a smile before turning back around, trying to calm his racing heart.
Jungkook smiled widely, making a mental note to step up his practice for the upcoming game.
As the other members of the baseball team arrived on the field, Jimin and Taehyung groaned in unison.
"I think that's our cue to leave," Jimin said sadly, though he could feel Yoongi's grip tighten as he expressed his reluctance to part. Deep down, they both knew practice was essential.
Jungkook's grip on Taehyung tightened instinctively, wanting to keep him close. Taehyung appreciated the gesture, feeling wanted and valued.
"Maybe we can all meet for a meal after practice? I'm usually starving after all that cheering," Taehyung suggested with a giggle.
Jimin excitedly suggested, "Yes! Triple date!"
Taehyung didn't correct him, happy with the thought of being on a date with Jungkook. The others agreed to the plan, and they set a meeting time outside the locker rooms in an hour. Jimin seized the opportunity for a private conversation.
"So, are you crushing on Kook?" Jimin asked quietly, wary of being overheard.
Taehyung chuckled, "What gives you that idea?"
Jimin teased, "Ah! You didn't deny it! Usually, when I claim you have a crush, you deny it outright!"
Taehyung sighed, "I just wanted to know why you thought that. I didn't confirm or deny the crush. To be honest, I don't even know what I'm feeling. It's only been a couple of months since I broke up with Minjae; maybe I'm just trying to latch onto the first cute guy because of my loneliness."
Jimin reassured him, "No, that's not it. You've been flirting with Hoseok all semester for that reason. I think you actually like Kook. Just be open to it, okay? You don't have to rush things. Get to know him better and see where it takes you."
Taehyung appreciated Jimin's support. Jimin had always been his rock, his best friend who had stood by him throughout his life.
"Can't I just date you instead? Break up with Yoongi, be with me, Chim," Taehyung joked dramatically, holding his hands out for Jimin to take.
Jimin giggled, taking Taehyung's hands and intertwining their fingers. "As much as I love you to pieces, I would never date you. Besides, who would even bottom in our relationship?"
Taehyung playfully winked, "I could try topping; I think I'd be good at it."
Jimin laughed, "I think I'll stick with Yoongi. But I'll always be here for snuggles!"
Taehyung agreed, sealing the promise with a hug before they both returned to practice, still a little giggly. Their happiness might have annoyed the rest of the cheerleaders, but they couldn't care less. If they were both happy, that was all that mattered.
