Chapter 8

Disclaimer: I do NOT own PJO or HOO

As promised, this chapter is a lot longer than the others so enjoy! : )

Annabeth

When I got out of school, I went straight to the hotel. I had a tonne of homework to do and I thought I better do it while I had no distractions to stop me (A.K.A: Percy). I sat on the floor, sorting through my folders, putting them into piles.

I got out Daedalus' laptop and loaded it up. When I put it to the side, I nearly jumped out of my skin. Behind where the laptop screen had been, was a shining mist and Sally Jackson's face. She chuckled when she saw me jump.

"Hi Sally," I said,

"Hey Annabeth. Sorry for making you jump," she said, but she was still laughing,

"That's okay. How are you?" I asked,

"I'm okay," she replied, "Have you seen Percy yet?" I shook my head,

"Not yet. We're not in the same home room or maths class, and I didn't go to any of my other classes because I was being shown around by the guide," Sally smiled. I loved how easy it was to talk to her.

"Well, I thought that you might like to see him again in private, so why don't you come over today, bring all of your stuff and you can stay with us," I blushed,

"Will you mind? I don't want to intrude," I mumbled,

"Oh, honey, don't be ridiculous. You can stay in the-" some one cut her off

"Mum," called a familiar voice. My heart skipped a beat.

"-Spare room, I've got it all set up for you," she finished. She looked at me with wide eyes,

"Percy," she called, a note of anticipation to her voice.

"I'm here, he called back,

"You can come over whenever you want. I have to go!" she whispered, and swiped her hand across my face. Her image disappeared. I sat there in silence, smiling to myself. I was going to see Percy.

I leapt up from the floor and threw my clothes into my bags. My stomach was swarming with butterflies as I packed everything up.

I picked up my suitcase and all of my homework. Before I left the room, I checked myself in the mirror - something that I had never done in my life before, ever.

I didn't think I looked too bad. I still had my sea green blouse and faded blue jeans along with my grey ankle boots and his jersey. I was practically skipping as I pushed the button on the elevator. It opened and as I leapt in, I bumped into someone,

"Aiden," I said, surprised,

"Hey," he replied. He was leaning against the side of the elevator, "You leaving?"

"Yeah, I'm moving in with someone," I felt my face heating up, and a smile creeping across my face, "Are you staying?" I was confused. He'd told me that he wasn't.

"Um... no, I was actually coming to see... you," he mumbled at the floor.

"Oh," was my clever response. There was an awkward silence as the elevator descended. All that could be heard was the crinkling of paper as I checked that I had all of my homework. It felt like eternity before the elevator finally opened and I stepped out.

Ah, sweet relief. Just as I was headed for the door, Aiden stopped me. I turned around,

"What's up Aiden? Is there something that you'd like to tell me that you couldn't tell me during the minute long elevator ride?" I asked sceptically. I didn't mean for it to come out so snappish, but I really  wanted to see Percy.

"I was just wondering if you wanted to catch a movie or something," He said shyly, a pink tinge rising to his cheeks. I almost felt bad for him.

He's not so bad, I thought, at least he's not drooling all over me,

"Look, Aiden, I'm really sorry but I have a boyfriend," In the space of about three seconds, I saw him look sad then confused then hurt, and then his expression hardened,

"What ever, just a stupid dare anyway," He said. All of the pity that I had felt for him suddenly left me. The shy boy that had been there less than two seconds ago had completely vanished,

"Fine, I guess you can leave me alone now, then, if that was all a dare," I said, sending him a death glare, which he tried to return feebly.

I rolled my eyes and turned away from him. Why are boys so stupid? As soon as I got outside, however, I forgot all about Aiden and his 'dare'. I was going to see Percy.

Eagerly, I began to sprint down the road. It had never crossed my mind how close the hotel was to Percy's place. That just made me more excited.

I began to sprint faster and faster, yearning to see him. To hold him. To hug him. To kiss him. Thump. My homework flew everywhere, landing on the ground,

"Oh sh*t, I'm so sorry," Said the collision-culprit. I knelt down to pick up my homework, and they began to help me

"Thanks," I said as I looked up. Jade stood in front of me. She was scanning me, as if she were trying to read me. All of a sudden, her eyes lit up with recognition. Clearly, she had forgotten who I was, and it had just come to mind.

"Oh, hi," She said awkwardly. To be honest, I was feeling a little awkward too. Normally, when someone liked Percy, I wasn't too threatened.

It was normally some desperate girl who just wanted to be with him for his looks - like Vicky - but something told me that this was different. I shook that thought from my head.

"Hey," I said. Jade's eyes glanced at my suitcase, and then she did a double take.

"Are you moving?" She asked me. I also looked at my suitcase and realised what Jade meant,

"No, I'm moving in with someone," I laughed, "I stayed at a hotel last night,"

"Who are you moving in with? Do you have family here?" She asked me. There was a note of anxious curiosity in her voice.

"Yeah, kind of. I'm moving in with Percy," I replied. She stared at me dumbfounded. I waited in silence for a minute.

"Oh," she finally said. I smiled awkwardly and pushed past her to carry on walking. Okay, sue me, I'm still mad at her. I don't know what it was about her that made me nervous. I shoved that from my mind as well (it seemed like I was doing that a lot lately) and picked up my pace again.

I was just outside his building when something happened and I heard a growling from behind me. On instinct, I dropped my bags and pulled my dagger from my side. I spun around to find myself in the shadow of a monstrous hellhound.

Great. Now I would most likely show up to Percy's with a ripped outfit and a bit of blood. What would he think?

Gods, I thought When did I become such an Aphrodite kid?

Just then, a growl snapped me back to reality (well, a reality for demigods at least). The hellhound charged. I rolled to the side and it crashed into the glass panel in the door. That only made it angry. Slowly it turned around to face me and huffed.

It charged again and (again) I rolled to the side. His tooth just caught me on the right arm and It started to shine with blood. Just as I was about to strike it with my dagger a voice from beside me said,

"Hey wise girl," I turned to see a misty form of Percy Jackson staring at me,

"Percy?" I said, thrilled. The hellhound charged at the Iris message and Percy's face disappeared.

"Hey!" I yelled, "That's my boyfriend!" The hellhound looked at me, confused (could hellhounds look confused?) I charged,

"Do you know how often I get to speak to him?" I shouted and I hit him in the mouth with the butt of my dagger,

"I mean, I haven't seen him in a week!" I shrieked, kicking him in the gut.

"He's my best friend - not that you would know," I added as I stabbed him and he turned to dust.

Well, that was like the cheapest therapy ever!

I'm going crazy, I thought. As the golden dust blew away in the wind. A searing pain shot up my arm. I needed nectar. I reached for my bag, but remembered that I didn't have any on me. Painfully, I grabbed my duffel bag and hoisted it onto my good shoulder, while I took my suitcase with the other hand. I stepped through the broken glass and, slowly, I began to climb the stairs.
