Chapter 6
I know that this chapter is quite short, but the next one is going to be a lot longer!
As always, I don't own PJO or HOO (Unfortunately)
I only own the plot an characters like Aiden, Miss Gordan, Jade and Morgan, all other credits go to Rick Riordan : )
Percy
Sleeping in class was never really a good thing, but now I guess it wasn't so bad. I dreamt that Annabeth was with me in Goode. When Jade nudged me awake, I was a little angry, before I remembered that it was just a dream and I had to be woken up at some point.
After second period, Morgan left to show the transfer student around. Jade didn't want to go, which surprised me. If she was willing to sit through lessons than show someone around all day, she must really hate her.
"Why won't you just come with me?" Morgan had asked. Jade glared at him.
A silent conversation seemed to pass between them then. Morgan looked a little angry while Jade looked pleading. I shrugged it off.
Jade and Morgan were always doing stuff like this - their own little language. That reminded me of Annabeth as well, and the way we used to fight - although we would fight together - knowing exactly what each other would do.
The rest of the day droned on and it was at 15:20 that they were finally allowed to leave school. As it turned out, Jade lived in the building right next to mine so we walked home together.
We said goodbye to Morgan at his house and began to pace the next few blocks. Jade was talking about some stuff that had happened in gym that day, while I only partially listened. I was thinking about Annabeth, and how I could Iris message her when I got home.
"Percy!" she said. I blinked a few times before realising that Jade was still talking to me. I looked at her sheepishly.
"So, do you?" she said. I looked at her, muddled. She rolled her eyes,
"Do you want to come to my house," she said exasperated.
"Um... sure?" I said it more like a question, "I have to run up and ask my mum first, though," she nodded. We rounded the corner to my apartment. I told her to wait where she was and I ran up the stairs to my apartment. I reached for my keys, not really in a hurry and unlocked the door,
"Mum?" I called.
"-Spare room, I've got it all set up for you," Said my mum from the kitchen. Who was she talking to?
"Percy?" she called,
"I'm here," I called back. She whispered something that I couldn't make out before emerging from the kitchen.
"Hey honey," she said,
"Hey mum. Umm... my friend invited me round and I just wanted to check that it was okay?" my mum nodded,
"Who asked you?" she said as she made her way to the dining table, on which all of her work was spread,
"Jade Lemmet," I replied as I hung my back up. My mum pursed her lips, "What?" I asked. She didn't answer me right away,
"Have you spoken to Annabeth lately?" she finally asked.
"I was gonna iris message her tonight. Well, actually, I was gonna do it now," My mum nodded,
"What?" I asked again
"Nothing," She replied. Something went off in my head,
"Jade is just a friend, mum." I said. That probably made me sound suspicious, but it was the truth. Jade was my friend, and nothing more.
There was a gasp from the hallway. I spun around to the door and saw that it was still open a crack. I looked at my mum. Her face was pinched as if she were curious too.
I stepped outside the hallway to see someone running down the hall. I didn't know what it was, so I began to run after it. Whatever (or whoever) it was, it wasn't slow. Luckily, neither was I.
I caught up with it at the bottom of the stairs,
"Stop!" I yelled and they did. I edged closer to them and realised that it was a girl. She had short brown hair, but that was about as much as I could see of her. But then she turned around.
Jade stood in front of me. Her face looked sad, but no tears were visible. I snatched my hand away from my pocket,
"Jade, what are you doing?" I asked suspiciously. She didn't answer so I spoke instead, "My mum said that I could come over," Jade started backing up towards the door.
"Actually, Percy, I don't think you should," she said with a small voice
"Jade-" she cut me off,
"It's not you Percy, it's me. Your friend," and she ran out of the door. I didn't try to chase her. She had made it clear that she wanted to be left alone.
One thing she hadn't made clear... "Your friend". What did that mean?
Had she heard what I said? Obviously. But what upset her? I dragged my feet up the stairs. Was she scared of me? I sighed as I entered the apartment. My mum looked up from her computer momentarily, but did a double take when she saw my slumped shoulders.
"You okay, Perce?" she asked me,
"Yeah, Jade's just acting weird," I said. I reached for my bag and pulled my folder out. I had been back to school for one week and I already had a huge pile of homework.
"Tell me what happened," my mum said. I stared at her confused,
"Oh! With Jade? Why?" I asked. My mum laughed,
"Because you're oblivious and I can probably tell you what's wrong," she said curtly. So I explained. It didn't take long. After all, Jade had barely said anything. When I was done, my mum was trying not to laugh,
"Annabeth was right, you really are oblivious," she chuckled but then looked at me with alarm,
"You talked to Annabeth? When?" I demanded
"While you were at school... one time," she said. Now, I may not be the best at maths or reading, but I can tell when someone's lying,
"Mum, when did you speak to Annabeth," I repeated. She smiled
"Do your homework Percy," she said, before returning to her computer. I didn't know what to say. So I said nothing and did my homework.
