Chapter 3

Disclaimer: I don't own PJO or HOO (I wish I did). This chapter is quite long - well, longer than the others : )

I am posting at least one chapter a day so stay tuned : )

This takes place a week before Morgans chapter, the day that Percy left.

Annabeth

I missed Percy. I know that we'd only been going out for less than a month. But really it felt like it had been years. I'd known (and liked) him since I was twelve and with everything that had gone on and the fact that he was the closest thing to family that I had, I didn't like being without him.

He had started school today, on September 3rd and all I could think about was how he was there and I wasn't.

The Aphrodite kids weren't helping either. They kept taking pictures of me and writing things like 'missing him' and 'love sick'. I wore his jersey, and when it lost the smell of the ocean, I put it back in his cabin to make it smell like him again.

I'd had enough. I went to talk to Chiron.

~Six days later (September 9th)~

I was so excited. I was bouncing up and down in my seat so much, the airplane was practically rocking. The talk with Chiron had gone very well. Before I had even asked him he said,

"Yes, very well, you may go to New York and what not," I had just stared at him dumbfounded. I was so happy.

There were (of course) a few conditions but they all seemed fine to me. First of all I had to IM him at least every other day, I had to return as soon as there was a monster attack, Paul Blofis had secured me a place at Goode and I had to surprise Percy when I got there rather than telling him that I was coming (that one was from Aphrodite and the other campers).

My stomach did somersaults as we landed, knowing that I would see Percy the next day.

It was about 9pm when I got to the hotel. I was only staying there for one night, because if I, didn't Percy wouldn't be surprised. Don't get me wrong, I like Aphrodite, but sometimes she can really be a pain.

I was standing at the elevator waiting for it to open, when someone walked up to me. It was a boy. He had short, curly chestnut hair and bright blue eyes.

"Hey," he said casually.

"Hi," I replied a little awkwardly.

"I'm Aiden... what's your name?" he asked.

"Annabeth," I replied curtly. I knew he was just trying to be nice, but it seemed a little annoying. Just then, the elevator opened and I stepped inside to my dismay, so did Aiden.

"So, are you staying here all alone?" he asked. I sighed. I didn't really want to talk to him, but it was better than an awkward silence all the way to the top floor.

"Yeah, but only for one night... then I'm going to stay with my boyfriend," I replied, putting emphasis on the word. Not the most subtle, but at least I got the message across.

Then came the awkward silence.

"Where does he go?" he mumbled after a long pause,

"Goode," I said,

"Hey, me too," said Aiden, his tone picking up. The elevator dinged open and I stepped got out,

"Isn't this your floor?" I asked when I noticed that Aiden hadn't gotten out. He shook his head,

"I just wanted to talk to you. I'm not even staying here, actually," he responded grinning. I was just about to remind him that I had a boyfriend, when the doors closed and the elevator descended.

When I got to my hotel room, I threw a few of my clothes into the draw and fell straight asleep.

*****

Beep! Beep! Beep! Lazily, I reached for the alarm clock. I accidentally knocked it off of the table and it broke into pieces.

Huh.

Ah well. I looked at the clock that was hanging above the door. It read 7:15... and school started at 8:00.

Hurriedly, I leapt out of bed. Quickly I grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl and wolfed it down. 41 minutes left. I took a shower and dried myself. 29 minutes left. I quickly got dressed into faded blue jeans, grey ankle boots and a sea green blouse that matched Percy's eyes, throwing his jersey on as well. 25 minutes left.

I brushed my teeth and hair at the same time and left the door with 22 minutes to go. I watched the bus pull up to the hotel, but realised that it was way too slow. Instead I ran. When I arrived at school, I only had nine minutes and I was a little out of breath. I hurriedly rushed to the office.

"Hello, how can I help you?" asked the receptionist. She had shoulder length red hair and a warm smile.

"Hi, I'm Annabeth Chase. I'm new here today," I replied.

"All right," she replied, typing a few things into the computer. She reached into her desk drawer and pulled out some pieces of paper. She handed them to me and I thanked her.

"Oh! And here are your guides!" she said happily as two people walked into the office. One of them was a girl with short brown hair and blue eyes. The other, a boy with golden curls and matching eyes. Maybe they were siblings?

"Hey, I'm Morgan," said the boy, offering his hand. I shook it and smiled,

"Annabeth Chase," I responded.

"This is my cousin Jade and we're your guides," he continued. I looked at Jade and realised that she was staring at me, her eyes narrowed.

"If you're new..." she said slowly, "then why do you have a Goode jersey?" I looked down and remembered that I still had on Percy's sweater,

"Oh, it's my boyfriends. He goes here," I could feel my face getting hot.

"Cool, maybe we know him," said Morgan, but Jade still looked a little suspicious. I decided to ignore it and instead focus on Morgan who was telling me which classes were which,

"What's your first class?" he asked. I pulled out my schedule and tried to read what it said. Curse dyslexia,

"Actually, I'm dyslexic," I said sheepishly. Morgan grinned and took my schedule from me to read it out.

8:00 - Homeroom, Mr. Clentus

8:55 - AP Maths, Ms. Matalan

9:50 - English, Mr. Blofis

10:45 - AP Greek, Mr. Bridgerton

11:40 - Lunch

12:35 - AP Science, Miss Claus

13:30 - AP History, Mr. Plune

13:25 - Gym, Mr. Lucks/Mrs. Clentus

15:20 - Dismissal

"Wow, these are a lot of advanced classes," Morgan said. I blushed profusely.

"Yeah," I mumbled as I took my schedule back.

"This is your locker by the way, #408," He said. Jade huffed. I looked up and saw that Jade looked angry, when Morgan looked eggasperated,

"You'll have to excuse my cousin. See, she's desperately in love with the guy who's locker is next to yours," Morgan explained. I smiled and turned back to my locker.

I turned and put in my combination which I set to 18-08 (Percy's birthday and the day we got together). I opened it and took my books out of my bag and put them in my locker along with a picture of me and Percy.

The Aphrodite cabin was always taking them. It was annoying when they did, but when they gave me them it was nice to look at them and remember. This particular photo was the one of our second kiss on the dining pavilion when we got together less than a month ago.

"So Annabeth," said Jade, talking at last, as I shut my locker "Who is this boyfriend of yours?" I blushed again,

"Umm... his name's Percy Jackson," I said smiling at the floor. Jade scoffed and I looked up. Their expression had changed into those of sympathy and amusement.

"What?" I asked defensively.

"Please," said Jade scornfully, "Fifty girls say that every day. You think we're going to believe that you are going out with the most popular guy in school?"

"Percy's the most popular guy in school?" I asked, surprised. I found it hard to believe at first and then I scolded myself. I shouldn't find it hard to believe that he was popular. Morgan and Jade just continued to look at me like I was crazy,

"Fine, you don't have to believe me," I said, "It's true,"

"Yeah right! Come on Morgan lets go find Percy," Jade sneered.

Just then, the bell rang. Great. Now  my guides left me, just as I needed to get to class. I looked around for someone to ask. The only people in the hallway was a group of boys. I tapped one of them on the shoulder.

"Excuse me," I said. The boy turned around. He had short curly chestnut hair and bright blue eyes,

"Oh, hey Aiden," I said. Aiden grinned,

"Hey. What's up?"

"Well, I need to get to homeroom but I don't know where it is. I've got Mr. Clentus," I added. If it were possible, Aidens smile got wider,

"Hey, me too," he said, obviously delighted, "This is us, right here," he dragged me into the classroom, directly to the right of us. As we went, everyone was already in their seats. All eyes were on us as we sat in the two empty spaces at the front of the class.

"You're late, Aiden," said Mr. Clentus. Aiden smiled and Mr. Clentus rolled his eyes.

"So what do we do know?" I whispered as Mr. Cletus went back to his newspaper.

"Whatever we want," he replied as he leaned back on his chair. I nodded and pulled a book from my bag.

"Woah," said Aiden when I opened the book, "Is that Greek?"

"Yeah," I said

"You can read that? Are you fluent?" I nodded and returned to reading.

"Hey, Aiden," I heard a voice say from behind me. Aiden turned around,

"Oh, hi Charlotte," he replied. After that, I zoned out and carried on reading my book,

"Hey, new girl," snapped Charlotte. I looked up.

Aiden was gone, talking to some friends across the room

"So what is going on with you and Aiden," she said. I laughed,

"Nothing. I actually have a boyfriend that goes here. Aiden just helped me find this classroom," Charlotte seemed to relax at this,

"So who are you going out with?" she asked,

"Oh. Percy Jackson," I replied casually. She laughed at this,

"That's impossible!" she said

"And why's that?"

"Because Percy Jackson belongs to me,"
