Chapter Eight
Staying with the Mikaelson's was, overwhelming, to say the least. After being on her own for the past few years, it was taking her some time to adjust consistently being around people again. Kristof made things easier just by being around. She was somewhat surprised that he had decided to stick around, but knowing that his friends life was in danger was more than enough reason for him. What shocked Natalia more was that he was staying in the compound as well.
She knew that Kristof and Elijah wouldn't get along with one another, but she was happy they were both going to put their differences aside in order to find out who was targeting them. Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah had been conducting their own investigation to try and figure out who wanted to hurt Elijah badly enough to come searching for Natalia.
Elijah seemed to put the kiss they he and Natalia shared to the back burner. Not bringing it up, and Natalia was grateful. The last thing she wanted was to be confronted by Elijah about wha happened and was happy that he was staying focused on what really mattered.
Klaus and Elijah were going over again who could be conspiring against Elijah, and Klaus was getting frustrated.
"Would you just talk to her?"
"Who?" Elijah asked.
"Don't be stupid, Natalia. Ask her about when she was turned, about who killed her. We're obviously getting nowhere and she is obviously the key to finding out."
Elijah shook his head. "She won't talk to me about it."
"I understand it's a bit of a difficult subject for her, but Elijah in order to figure this out she's going to have to suck it up."
Elijah let out a long sigh, knowing his brother was right. Elijah knew their was something that Natalia wasn't telling him, and he didn't want to end up pushing her further away by making her talk about things that caused her so much obvious pain.
Elijah went up to her room and knocked on the door, then let himself in.
He found Natalia and Kristof standing in the room talking in low voices, when they realized Elijah had come in they immediately quieted.
"Sorry to interrupt," Elijah stated.
"It's fine," Natalia said.
"May I have a word?" Elijah looked directly at Natalia.
She looked up at Kristof and nodded her head, signaling that it was okay. Kristof stepped put of the room to give them some space, shutting the door behind him.
"What is it?" Natalia asked, void of emotion.
"I need to talk to you, about the night you were turned."
She rolled her eyes, "I've already told you. His name was Jonathan and that's all I know." Natalia sat on her bed with one leg tucked under her.
"I need to know what happened that night, Natalia. Every last detail from that night up until you killed him. You've barely told us anything about what happened and in order to find out who is after us we need to know everything. Please, Natalia."
Natalia knew eventually she would have to tell him everything, and although she didn't want to she knew she had to.
"Jonathan didn't just snap my neck and kill me," she started. "He took me."
Elijah's brows furrowed together. "Took you? You mean he kidnapped you?"
Natalia nodded her head.
Elijah felt the rise of anger. "What happened?" He asked quietly.
Natalia let out a bitter laugh. "He snapped my neck, right in the middle of the day and took me. When I woke up I was in a small room, bound by ropes."
"How did he know you would come back and be in transition?"
"He said he had to be sure that I wasn't ingesting vampire blood, that he couldn't take any chances."
"What happened next?"
Natalia was quiet for a moment. "I don't think that matters."
Elijah scooted closer to her. "Every piece matters, Natalia." Elijah's voice took on a softer tone. "I know, you don't want to talk about this, but I need you to."
Natalia shut her eyes, not wanting to go back to that moment.
"He tortured me, physically, mentally. He was cutting me, all over." Natalia opened her eyes and looked away from Elijah as she proceeded to tell him what he did to her. "He wanted everything to hurt, so he made small cuts with a knife, nothing serious enough to make me bleed out. He punched me, slapped me around, whatever he felt like doing he did it. But then, he got into my head." Natalia's voice turned to stone, feeling the hatred she had for him resurface.
"He made me think that everyone I cared for was dead. Hope, Rebekah," she looked back at him. "You. Different scenarios of you all being killed, by my hand, by his. It had felt like days. But then Kristof found me." Natalia said, her voice perked up.
"He had been out searching for me, and when he found me, he snapped his neck and gave me blood, completing my transition."
"How is it that Kristof found you? And how is it that you met him?"
"I only met him the night before in the bar I was at, he heard a rumor that I was going to be killed and he didn't think it was right. That night, he slipped his blood into my drink, just in case the attack happened soon, he didn't think it was fair to me. A human to be killed just because of the actions of a vampire."
Elijah merely nodded in understanding. But thought it odd, how Kristof had been taken with Natalia so quickly, before he had even met her face to face. And that he so conveniently gave her his blood the night before she was turned.
"I know what you're thinking, Elijah. He had nothing to do with it, and I'm offended you would ever even think that," She said angrily.
"You never thought it strange? He gives you his blood, then he's he one that tracks you down and saves you?"
"No, not once."
Elijah decided it best to drop it, for now.
"When is it you killed him?"
"Kristof strung him up on vervain ropes that same night and I put a stake through his heart." Natalia thought it best to keep it simple, leaving out the fact that she tortured him for hours beforehand.
Elijah was quiet for a moment, taking in everything she had said.
"I can't say this enough, but-"
"Yeah, I know; you're sorry, Elijah." Natalia said with a roll of her eyes. "We done?"
Elijah nodded his head and offered her a smile smile.
"Yes." Elijah got up to leave, his next stop was Kristof.
