Chapter 4 "Goooooot it..."

(What's this? An update? *gasps* DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE!)

(Also, read the very bottom when you can, please and thank you)

The next day arrives and we already begin training. Qrow had left to find more huntsmen, so it was just team RNJR, Oscar (and Ozpin), and me. Nora, Jaune, Ren and I sat on the sidelines and watched Ruby and Oscar train in hand to hand combat

"Man, Oz wasn't kidding. Oscar's picking up on this stuff fast," Jaune commented. The farm boy was able to hold his ground surprisingly well against the silver-eyed huntress.

I observed as they trained. "Yeah, no kidding." If I had been told before joining up with team RNJR that Oscar would be able to keep up and fight this well, I'd probably think whoever told me that was crazy. Sure, we've fought the occasional small Grimm before on the farm but.. nothing like the Grimm out there or especially other people.

The fight continued as Oscar was able to get a hit in. Directly in the face. Oh geez... Ruby recoiled from the blow and looked visibly angry. As that was happening, I hid my face in my hands and waited for her to strike him back.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Oscar started apologizing profusely before what I could only assume was Ruby getting payback.

Oscar's P.O.V.

Well, I'm dead. After I accidentally punch Ruby square in the face, I try my best to apologize but to no avail. She hits me back and I land a few feet away on the ground as Jaune and Nora wince.

Y/N moves her hands from her eyes and winces a little at the sight. She must've predicted this from Ruby, seeing as she traveled with her for who knows how long.

"HA! YES! I DID IT!" Ruby's little victory party was interrupted with a little groan from me. "Oscar?"

"You forgot to engage your Aura again," Ozpin reminded me. I've started to get used to talking to him in my head rather than out loud.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because this method makes you less likely to forget." Oh, Ozpin... I start to stand up, groaning as I do so. "Mind if I give it a shot?" Quickly, I agreed in my head and Oz starts taking control again. My eyes glow that yellow light they always do when he's in charge.

"Not bad, Miss Rose. But Oscar doesn't have the years of training that you do. Or I do."

Ruby starts stepping back a little. "Oh, ha, well, maybe we should uh... take a break." She nervously pleaded before Oz jumped right into it.

Y/N P.O.V.

Well, Ozpin's back. This whole... two souls thing is really gonna take some getting used to, for sure. Anyway, I begin to watch the rest of this showdown. Ozpin attacks Ruby with a few punches aimed at her head, forcing her onto the defensive until he lands a blow to her face which knocks her back several feet. He closes the gap with a leap and kicks her in the face. Ruby leaps at Ozpin to throw a left cross which he evades by ducking and retaliates with a headbutt from below.

"Ouch.." Nora and I comment in sync. After that beating, Ozpin gives some advice to the young huntress.

"The next time you want to throw a left cross, remember to push off with the appropriate foot. And as always, do be aware of any openings."

"Goooooot it..." Ruby groaned as she began sitting up. Ozpin/Oscar's eyes glow again and he falls to his knees, panting. I rush over to his side, as does Ruby, to make sure Oscar's alright.

"Oh! Hey. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, are you alright, Oscar?"

"How is this so exhausting?" He answered. Shockingly, we get an answer from the reclusive huntsmen sitting to the side.

"Your body isn't used to this kind of training, not to mention generating a defensive Aura on your own," Ren started. "It takes intense concentration at first, but in time it will become second nature, allowing you to deflect attacks and gradually heal your wounds. After that, you can begin focusing on your Semblance, whatever that may be."

"Semblance?" Oscar asked, confused. Before going to Signal, I had never heard of Semblances or anything like that so I understood his confusion.

"You know! Like your very own superpower!" Nora jumped in. Almost literally. "Everybody's got one. It's just a matter of finding it and mastering it. Ruby moves super fast, Electricity makes me stronger, Ren can mask emotions, and Jaune... can, uh, um. Hmm."

"I can't do anyth— "

"Jaune's like you!" Ruby interrupted the blonde, grabbing Oscar's hand and bringing him over to Jaune. Nora and I follow close behind. "He hasn't found his Semblance yet, but we all know he will. And you will, too. We all just have to try and help each other get stronger."

"Cool," was all Oscar could say after they started explaining this stuff to him. I smile softly at him, getting a small smile in return.

"A common philosophy is that a warrior's Semblance is a part of who they are. Some say your personality and character can define your Semblance while some claim that it is the other way around. Of course, there are still many who don't see a connection at all," Ren continued. The world of Semblances is a weird one, I'll definitely say.

"It's hard to know when you know sometimes," Nora added. "Ren's Semblance was unlocked from intense stress." Ruby threw her hat in the ring and said her's kicked in during training one day.

"Mine just so happened to unlock during a big battle.." I reply, trying not to think back to that.. specific fight. There was a reason why I didn't say what battle it was.

"And what about you?" The farm boy asked the hyperactive red-head.

"Oh. Struck by lightning. Didn't die. Craaaazy Thursday."

"I just don't understand what's wrong with me. I train. I meditate," Jaune started again before Oscar's eyes glowed one more time, signaling Ozpin was in the house.

"Don't worry, Mr. Arc. Your journey is far from over. And the same might be said for all of you. Unlocking your Semblance isn't the end. It can still grow and evolve. Providing you're willing to put in the work, who knows what could happen."

"Then let's get back to it," Ruby smiled as we went back to training, this time Jaune was combatting Nora. Ozpin gave Oscar control back and sat down against the wall next to where I was sitting. Ruby sat on the other side of him, Ren stayed where he was, and we watched the two spar until it was someone else's turn to go.

(LITTLE BITTY UPDATE: I didn't mean to confuse anyone with the whole Semblance thing but it seems I did. Sorry! I put in the reader's backstory that you unlocked your Semblance at the fall of Beacon, putting it at Y/S so you could pick out your own Semblance for yourself because I didn't want to choose one that people didn't like. But yeah, that's the big battle I was talking about. Hopefully, I don't confuse anyone else. Sorry again for that!)
