Chapter Twenty-six: Karissa

Brady's POV

"So, how did you get those scars?" I interrogate Alex who crushed leaves under his heavy boots.

"When Alpha King Xavier was alive, he was deeply in love with Diana and snuck into the Packhouse to see her. Luca found out and they had a really when I say really, I mean really bad fight in the Packhouse. We tried to hold them back to avoid anyone from dying, I guess we didn't hold them strong enough...he clawed at my face leaving me these marks,"

Wow, I never realized they had been through so much during these years but those battle scars on Alex's face told a different story. He told me some stories that happened and told me a lot of things about Theo I had never even known about. I mean I didn't have a single good memory with the man. Everything Alex told me was just bad.

"Theo was a very bad rogue, and since he carried Alpha blood it's hard to process that we had actually defeated him. Because of him, Mia almost didn't survive..."

I stopped in my tracks giving him a small glimpse waiting for him to continue as my heart ached at the thought of Mia not being here today...I mean what would have happened if he did kill her?

Alex peeked to the side seeing that I wasn't walking next to him anymore, he turned around and James sighed knowing that I wanted to hear the whole story.

"When the war came, they took Jade from us. We didn't even know where she was, apparently these rogues that worked for Theo bit her and held her captive somewhere. Due to the bite, she went into labor 3 months earlier than she should have. Luckily, Matt was there to save her. He was there when Jade was giving birth and saved not only your mate but your mate's mother," James explained this time.

Matt? I despised the man for making Mia feel so uncomfortable but now that I knew what he did I felt regret for not knowing about this sooner. I wanted to go find Matt and give him a hug to say thank you for saving my mate. Without him, I probably would have never met her.

We walked for a couple more minutes and made it to the lounge that rogues took under their wing. My mother was standing outside as if she knew I was coming back to see her. James stood by my side to warn her that if she tried anything then there would be problems. Alex held a gun in his hand that once belonged to one of the hunters that ambushed the Woods Pack.

My mother gave me a strong embrace leaving a small peck on the cheek. It shocked me especially since I was never used to this kind of affection form her.

"Did you do it?" She whispered in my ear, talking about killing Luca once again.

I shook my head pushing her back with my hands on her shoulders.

"No, we need to talk. Trust me, it is important."

She nodded with a look of worry plastered on her face, she glanced behind me watching James and Alex standing there holding their ground cautiously.

"Who are they?"

"This is Gamma James of the Woods Pack and Alex who is a member of the Woods Pack,"

She pointed to Alex confused, "He's human. That Alpha King allows humans to join his Pack? What is wrong with him?"

I ignored her before being straight forward about what is happening, "Mother, Alpha King Luca has requested to create a peace treaty between our pack and your pack."

"our pack? Why would he want to create a treaty with us now, after many years of this bickering and fighting? Why haven't you ended it yet?" Mother asked with gritted teeth.

"There are hunters. They are going to kill us all if we don't stop them. Please, just listen mother! Come with us back to the Pack and bring everyone, all of the rogues who are suffering here. Alpha King will make sure we will defeat the TRUE enemy."

"I would listen to him, Karissa," James told her.

"How do you know my name?" Mother urged forward feeling attacked.

I pushed her back again staring deep in her eyes. Of course, my mother hated the idea of going to the Pack and she already hated that I haven't killed the werewolf that decapitated the love of her life. She despised me already and knowing that I didn't accomplish her life long goal for her made her more infuriated than usual.

She agreed reluctantly turning around to let all of the rogues know. This was going to be a mess and I knew it.

Mia's POV

I let out a yawn trying to keep my eyes open during the meeting that was currently happening in the living room. It was getting toasty in here due to all of the bodies that crowded the couches trying to figure out a way to find the man named Michael who was the evil mastermind behind all of this.

My head dropped a tiny bit but I caught it shaking it reluctantly to stay awake. I felt a small paper ball hit me in the face making me look around the room to see who threw it. Frankie laughed quietly from across the living room.

'Stay awake,' he mouthed to me.

"So, what do we do? Do we just wait until he attacks another one of our packs and then react? I don't think so. We should bring the fight to him, he won't be expecting it," Alpha Zander argued with my Uncle.

Blake shook his head letting them know it wasn't a good idea to blindly go into this.

"No, it's what he wants. He knows that his crew wasn't able to defeat us, we don't even know what he looks like. How are we going to kill him?" said Monica.

It was true, how would we do anything if we don't know where he is, what his intentions really are, and what he even LOOKED like. It was nearly damn impossible. We just have to wait it out.

"They're right, all we know is that-" Uncle Luca stopped speaking and his eyes were clouded with black.

I saw the other Alphas eyes doing the same as they stood up staring at me. I was by the front door my body turning around so my face was centimeters away from Uncle Alex. He took his boots off then stood next to Alpha Derek.

Brady walked in next making me jump into his arms when I saw that he was safe and sound. He relaxed at my touch letting out a small sigh of content. I glimpsed over his shoulder seeing his mother inches behind him with her arms folded.

"Karissa," Uncle Luca snarled.

"Luca." Brady's mother growled out.

This wasn't going to be good at all. They glared at each other attempting to end the other's life just by their looks. James whistled a little bit feeling the tension in the room.

"Wow! If looks couldn't kill I'm sure everyone in this room would be six feet underground by now," He cracked a joke making his way to Lena who was by the stairs.

"Anyway! We know they are good at what they do. So instead of hating one another right now, let's worry about Michael." Uncle Aiden requested.

"Maybe Kaylin knows the pack they might be attacking? They have to have some sort of...system right? I mean if we figure out where they are going we can figure out everything else from there." I suggested.

Brady wrapped his arms from behind me resting his head on top of mine. His mother gave him a look of shock then noticed the mark on my neck. It seems like he didn't tell her. Uncle Aiden was quick to speak when Kaylin's name was heard in the meeting.

"I can speak to her. She isn't as bad as we all think, she's just scared. We can bring her in here."

"No way am I letting her anywhere near here, especially after what she has done," Brady spat.

"I second that," Lena agreed with him.

Aunt Diana held her hands up defending Uncle Aiden who looked defeated that his idea went down the toilet without any consideration.

"Now hold on a second, there is only one of her and like what? Twenty of us in this room right now? Do we really think she can defeat us right now, first of all, we have five damn," She flickered her eyes to Karissa, "four damn Alphas in this room? There is no way she will survive if she tried anything,"

Karissa rolled her eyes having a scoff leave her lips as she leaned on the staircase.

"Are you sure my love? Do you really think that is a good idea?" Uncle Luca asked Aunt Diana for confirmation.

She intertwined their fingers together, "I'm positive," Her voice was direct and it was all she had to say for Aiden to go get Kaylin.

As he went to get her, everyone had their own small conversations waiting patiently for them to get back. Brady brushes a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Are you alright?" Brady mumbled.

"I am doing so much better now that you're here. Next time, I am going with you."

He hummed pushing up against me a tiny bit. Karissa cleared her throat letting us know she was inches away from us. She crept her way in front of me observing every little thing about me. I coward a bit feeling intimidated by her.

"Brady, I need to speak with you."

She grabbed his hand pulling him into the hallway near Uncle Aiden and Uncle Daniel's room. I kept my gaze on them just in case she did anything fishy. The woman was out to destroy this pack as well and now that she is here, she has every opportunity to do so.

"Everybody, meet Kaylin." Uncle Aiden's voice interrupted all of us.

She hid behind him out of fear slowly moving to his side as he took a seat on the sofa's armrest. Okay, there definitely was something going on between those two, and I intended to find out what it was.

"We need to know every plan, every idea that Michael may have." Aunt Diana demanded.

She honestly terrified me when she became this direct and needy to get answers. Kaylin took a brief look at everyone in the room then answered,

"I-I don't remember where but once we were done with Estes Park we were supposed to go east. But since you all have become involved the plan may have changed. I promise you, he is always three steps ahead."

"So you don't have any sort of idea?" Alpha Derek spoke.

"He might be on his way here now and we won't even know! My best bet is that he is going to continue East then slowly make his way here. I'm sure if he figures out that you, " She pointed to Uncle Luca, "are the Alpha King, you will be the last on his list to kill. He knows that every Alpha would risk their packs and families to make sure you are safe. So he is going to go up the chain until finally, he has you all to himself."

Aunt Diana almost attacked the woman but Uncle Luca held her back before she could even move a step in her direction.

"This is what we will do," Uncle Luca started.

We were going to get all of our packs and create an army of thousands of pack warriors including Karissa's 'pack'. Uncle Luca would take charge of everyone obviously, but we needed everyone to be ready to fight. All of my uncles would stay here to take care of the Pack while the Alphas, Uncle Luca, and Aunt Diana would go to where Michael was. The Betas would distribute to each of the neighboring packs to let their betas know what was going on. It was all happening now. Brady and I would stay here to make sure nothing happened.

Karissa on the other hand would be going with my Uncle Luca and that terrified me. I knew her intentions towards him were all terrible, but I knew that he would be able to handle himself if anything did happen.

"It's time we f*cking end this," Lena declared.
