Chapter Eight: Sorry
Mia's POV
I cleared my throat and explained everything to Uncle Luca as he continued to comfort Aunt Diana. As soon as I finished, I could sense the thickened air when no one dared to speak after me.
"You mean to tell me, you went to the cell without any sort of safety-"
"Well, actually I was there," Frankie cut Uncle Luca off this time.
Uncle Luca looked like he was about to have smoke come out of his ears. He glared deeply at Frankie then gave me a harsh stare afterward.
"Frankie! This is not a joke! I can not believe you would take her there! You know better," The man scolded.
"I'm sorry Dad! I tried to stop her!" He blamed me.
I scoff and fold my arms over my chest in annoyance.
"Well, you didn't try hard enough..." I mumbled.
"Excuse me? If you actually LISTENED to me we wouldn't be in this mess right now!"
"FRANKIE!" The woman soon yelled.
"Look, if you really want to know why I went to that hell hole was so I could see the wolf! I don't know what to do but I can't seem to get him out of my head," I slam my hands against the sides of my head, "He is all I can think about and I can't help it. I wanted to see if he was okay because there is some sort of force that keeps pulling him to me."
Uncle Luca let go of Aunt Diana and pinched the bridge of his nose with stress. The man asked him a question and the woman hugged Aunt Diana this time.
"Could the mutt be her mate?"
"Blake shut it. Let me think." Uncle Luca snapped.
Huh, so this was the famous Blake. That only meant the woman had to be Monica. Aunt Diana wiped her tears then walked up to me and grabbed my hand. I pull it back as soon as another stinging sensation arises.
"Luca, c-can you please look at this?" Aunt Diana asked him.
He quickly stood next to her and kissed her forehead before taking a grasp on my hand and inspecting it carefully. His head turned to Blake and he just looked at him for a minute before nodding silently.
"Mia, go sit on the couch. I am going to wrap this up with some gauze and hopefully, it'll heal before your parents get here," He let go of my hand and hugged Aunt Diana tightly, "Go rest, I'll take care of it from here. We can talk more in the morning baby. I love you,"
They shared a sweet kiss and I was soon left alone with Uncle Luca. Monica pointed to the stairs and spoke loudly to Frankie. I suddenly felt really bad for Frankie and soon guilt started to eat me up. I couldn't help myself from it.
"You are on house arrest until told otherwise. Luna Queen and Alpha King will talk about your consequences with your dad and me."
Frankie walked upstairs with his Mom without another word and I could feel the tension rising even more. I take a seat on the couch and Uncle Luca sat next to me. Blake came back with a bottle of alcohol rub and some gauze. This was going to hurt.
Blake was excused and he left both Uncle Luca and me alone in the living room. I watched intently as he patched up my wound and I couldn't help but stay quiet until he spoke.
"Before you were born, your mother was kidnapped by these bad wolves who worked for my brother. They took her captive and put her somewhere else. Alex and I were kidnapped also but we were stuck in the basement of some building. They tortured me until I literally couldn't do anything."
"What?" I asked confused.
"Be quiet and listen. Anyway, when your mother was kidnapped while she was pregnant with you. The wolves who captured her, one of them bit her ankle. She was only about six months along with you but she gave birth that same night in a cell. The bite gave her effects of what happens to actual werewolves."
"What is that supposed to mean?" I question.
"What that means is that you might have gotten some I don't know, werewolf genes from the bite. This is probably why you got burned by the wolfsbane. Let's just hope you aren't a werewolf and this is the only thing we need to worry about."
I gulped a ball of spit that built up in my throat and I bit my bottom lip in fear. Uncle Luca finished tying the gauze around my hand and he kissed my knuckles lightly.
"I understand this wolf has a strong connection to you and you don't understand why. Tomorrow morning before your parents get here, Diana and I will take you to the wolf ourselves and we can figure this out together."
What did I do to deserve such an understanding family? I have messed up so much yet they still try everything they can to make sure I feel safe and comfortable here.
"Thank you," I whisper.
Uncle Luca left me alone on the couch and went to bed without another word. I hum lightly and just sit on the couch and fiddled with the sleeves of Brady's sweatshirt, which still had his smell. It was such a nice sweet smell which made my heart melt.
I bring the sleeve up to my nose and breathe in deeply.
"What are you doing?"
I let out a yelp and bring my arm back down then turn around to see Frankie standing there. I smile slightly and pat the cushion next to me. He understood what I meant and takes a seat next to me.
"Frankie, I am so sorry for getting you in trouble. There is no way I can get out of this situation but I feel so terrible. You have done so much for me and I was being so selfish."
Frankie smiles and pulls me into a side hug. I could feel the blood rush up to my cheeks when I was soon in his arms, and my heart was beating faster by the second. I let it happen and my head is soon rested on his shoulder while my legs were tucked underneath me.
I felt my eyelids get heavy and I soon realized I was getting really tired. I lifted my head off of Frankie's shoulder but he puts it back on his shoulder lightly putting his head on mine.
"Go to sleep. Don't worry."
A small smile is formed on my lips and I close my eyes in content.
I wasn't going to lie. This was probably one of the best nights of sleep I have had in years.
Brady's POV
I walk in circles as I have taken control of my wolf. Ryan seems to let me since he put us in this mess.
"Shut up."
I growled lowly and stopped wandering around. My paws scratch at the cement and I accidentally touched my back leg with the chains. A burning sensation arises.
I howl in pain and my thoughts go to Mia. She actually came to visit me and was injured in the process. This just proves that I am a danger to her.
I whimper and lay on the ground in sadness and wait until morning to come up with a plan.
Mia's POV
*****The next morning*****
"Should we wake them up?"
"Shhh! No! This is too cute!"
"I can't handle this anymore, I am about to break his face,"
"Luca!"
"You do that and we are going to have some problems Alpha,"
I opened my eyes and blinked away the sleep. My hands rubbed my eyes and I looked up to see Blake and Monica holding hands while Aunt Diana is trying to calm down an angry Uncle Luca.
"Oh look. You woke them up!" Monica screeched.
Frankie quickly retracts his arm back to his side and turns bright red. He scratches the back of his neck and lets out an awkward chuckle.
"Get up. We are going to the cells in 30 minutes." Uncle Luca grumbled.
I giggled and shrugged my shoulders before getting up and off the couch to get ready for the day. I head to the upstairs bathroom and I begin my day with a clean mouth.
The minty toothpaste felt nice against my teeth while I rinsed my mouth with lukewarm water.
There is a knock on the bathroom door and I quickly open it to see Frankie with a towel in his hand.
He looks up at quickly blushes.
"O-oh uh. I'm sorry, you can take your time. I'll just wait out here- no uh in my room."
I let out a small giggle and point behind myself.
"No worries. I've finished anyway."
I walk past him and my hand brushes against his.
This was going to be a long day.
*****
We made it back to the cells and Uncle Luca stands in front of the wolf to create a barrier between us. I roll my eyes at his childish acts but let it happen.
"Alright, I need to see if this is true or not." Uncle Luca says.
Aunt Diana held a towel around her forearm while her left hand was wrapped around Uncle Luca's bicep. She flipped her black hair behind herself and cleared her throat.
"You ready my love?" She asks.
Uncle Luca nudges his head to the wolf who laid quietly and did nothing but stare in the distance. I was getting quite worried that he hadn't moved a muscle.
"Hey, mutt. I need you to shift for me and that is an order."
Aunt Diana clicked her tongue and lightly slapped Uncle Luca's shoulder.
"That was rude Luca!" She shook her head then continued to speak to the wolf, "Hey sweetie, I understand that the conditions here aren't too nice, but this is for the safety of the pack and I apologize for putting you in here. I really need to you shift back so I can see if you and my niece are...mates. Please."
The wolf raises his head slowly and whimpers slowly while looking at me. I walk up to him and kneel down to pet him. His soft fur meets my palm and I let out a small giggle when I see tail starting to wag and smack the floor.
"Ugh,"
I turn around and watch Uncle Luca rubbing his face in irritation. My attention is back to the wolf and I decide to figure out who he really was. I continue petting him as I speak in a calm voice.
"Hi, I'm Mia Welder. You might not know me but I really want to know who you are. I feel like I have this connection with you. Can you please shift back to your human form so I can finally see you?" I ask politely.
I stop petting him and walk back to where Uncle Luca was standing with his arms folded. I hide behind him and peak my head over his tall shoulder. I fiddle with the sleeves of the yellow hoodie again and wiggle my toes in anticipation.
"Close your eyes, Mia." Uncle Luca ordered.
I did as I was told and heard the chilling sound of bones cracking, I open my eyes slowly and see Aunt Diana facing me while Uncle Luca takes the towel from her.
"Here."
He tosses it to the human in the cell and I take my chance to see who was really the wolf I seemed to love. My eyes widen when I see him with a towel around his waist and his messy hair covered his right eye.
I cover my mouth and tear up when I see him look at me. He sniffs deeply and looks right at me with eyes so dark they made my stomach churn.
"Mate," he whispers.
Brady licks his dry lips and looks me up and down before violently gripping onto the cell bars and shaking them.
"LET ME OUT! I NEED TO SEE HER!"
Uncle Luca growled and walked closer to him, so close that I felt fear for Brady.
He sneered out words that made my heart hurt for some reason,
"I can't believe you are her mate."
"Aunt Diana...what is a mate?" I asked as my voice was shaking.
