Chapter Nineteen

I ignored what JJ and Pope were saying about my driving skills. They were making fun of it, laughing at it like it was the funniest thing in their lives—I mean, they are high right now, so anything to them is funny.

I don't like JJ like this. This isn't the JJ I know.

One of my head lights were broken as I rounded a corner, biting my lip nervously. "Kie... Kie, can you drive, please?" I asked, feeling like I'm about to have a panic attack. I stopped the car instantly, my hands beginning to tremble.

"Yeah, of course," Kie nods her head. She shoots the boys a look. "Would you two shut up about Storm's driving?"

She and I easily switched positions. I put on the seatbelt to the passenger and Kie drives began to drive again.

"Where are we goin'?" JJ asked, oblivious to my state. I don't mind him not knowing I'm freaking out, that means he wouldn't be smothering me. I leant on the window, looking out, trying to get my hands to stop shaking.

"The last place they're gonna look."

I had a feeling that I knew where we were going.

I hadn't been home since Dad had kicked me out. So, arriving at home was a little bit of Déjà vu for me. Every single memory I had at this place comes back to Pope and Kie exited the car. We'd parked right outside by a stone wall.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" JJ questioned.

"She's the only one who can clear John B." I told them, climbing over the wall and onto the property.

"Last place they'll look because of how stupid it is." JJ retorts and I sent him a glare as he sits in the passenger seat. I bite my lower lip, trying to calm down my nerves. The air going silent between us as Pope and Kie climbed over the wall. Kie was going to talk to my sister and I couldn't bare to stand another foot in that house. "Hey, baby, you okay?"

JJ had leant over in the middle, looking at me with concerned eyes. "Hm." I nodded, starring ahead, not looking at him.

"No, you're not." JJ dedicated that lie and I felt tears brim my eyes, my lip quivers as I looked down at my lap. "Stormy, what's wrong?"

"You're really asking me that right now?" I let out a laugh, trying to hold back my tears. "My—First of, my Dad's a killer and then my bro—brother killed Peterkin and fo—for some fucked up reason, they're trying—trying to cover it up!" I kept stuttering during that sentence, tears falling down my cheek. "God, I have a huge dysfunctional family!"

"Hey, hey, hey," JJ had told me gently, turning my head so I was looking at him. He wipes away the tears. "Don't cry, okay? I promise everything's going to work out."

"That still doesn't change the fact that two of my family members have killed people." I whimpered out. "There's no way that I could let them scout free, knowing that."

"We're not going to let them scout free, Stormy," JJ spoke to me in a promising tone.

"But, at the same time..." I looked down. "I don't want them to be in jail. My family would literally fall apart without them, I guess."

"You're not with them anymore, though, right? So, it shouldn't affect you."

"Unfortunately, JJ, this is the real world. I am still part of their family, whether I like it or not." I shake my head, letting out a sigh.

"Then be part of mine." JJ had blurted out and my eyes widen as I looked up at him with teary eyes.

"W-What?"

"Um—I was gonna wait until we were like, 22 or something," JJ admitted. "But I really would love it if you were part of my family. Or, lack of."

"JJ, you are not proposing to me in the middle of a runaway," I couldn't contain my smile.

"Why not?" JJ grinned.

"It's the timing." I reminded him.

"So you would say yes if I proposed to you after the runaway?" JJ questioned, he sounded hopeful. "

"I'm not saying that," I lied, shaking my head.

"Come on," JJ pouted. "Be Stormy Jade Maybank."

"We'll talk about this later." I told him, noticing Kie and Pope returning. I connected our lips briefly and pulled away. I noticed there was no Sarah as Kie entered the car and Pope does too.

A/N

So... JJ asked Stormy to marry him... AND ITS SO FUCKING CUTE IDC WHAT Y'ALL SAY!!

And im sorry for such a short chapter.

And two more chapters I think until season 1 is over!!
