Chapter Four

AN: Ahhhh I'm so excited for this chapter. I feel like this is when the story really starts going, and everything really starts.
Please let me know if you enjoy, and keep reading, because it's only getting started.

Getting ready for the TSAs was the most nerve racking thing I'd ever done.

There were cameras everywhere. Everyone I knew plus millions of strangers would see pictures of me. I had to look perfect.

I pulled out my dress. It was short and black, with lace at the top. I loved it, but I wasn't sure if it was 'Hollywood' enough.

I decided to straighten my brown hair, and put on some red lipstick.

Forty five minutes later, I was ready.

Even my dad had dressed up for the event. He was wearing a black suit with a black tie. He had planned on wearing khakis, but I had convinced him to wear something fancy.

Mia looked adorable in her dress. She was wearing a blue dress to her knees, that was slightly flairy at the bottom.

My dad was driving us there. Most celebrities showed up in limos, but we were gonna go the old fashion way and drive.

I was supposed to meet Max Bing by the entrance. We were going to walk down the red carpet together.

When I found him, he looked even better than he had yesterday. Every guy looked hotter in a tuxedo.

He smiled, and approached me. He looped his elbow through mine. "Let's go, Julianna."

I was going to tell him that that wasn't my name, but I was too mesmerized by the flashing lights. The paparazzi were everywhere, and they were taking about four billion pictures a second.

I guess I could wait. Besides, Julianna was a nice name.

"Max, Max, is this your new girlfriend?" People screamed from all around us.

Max leaned down to whisper in my ear. "Just smile. Don't answer their questions. They'll just twist around your answers."

I nodded slightly, and continued smiling at the cameras.

About twenty minutes later we reached our seats. Every table had twelve people at it, usually people nominated for the same awards to cause drama.

The seats were so comfy. You could tell this was one of the biggest events of the year.

The room was covered in blue balloons that said TSAs on them, and blue and gold streamers.

Even the refreshments matched the color scheme. There were blue and gold cookies on tables, and the napkins were gold.

I started inspecting the place cards to see who would be at our table. I saw Max's name, and then mine next to him, and next to me were Mia and my dad.

I kept walking and saw that next to them was Rachel Opal, the nineteen year old singer who had broken records with her single 'Don't Go Don't Stay'. It had gotten more views in twenty four hours than any other music video this year, plus a million other things.

I quickly took a picture and uploaded it to Snapchat  with the caption 'Just casually sitting at the same table as Queen Ray'.

I took another step to look at the next place card, but before I could check, I heard a voice behind me.

"Excuse me, I'd like to sit down sometime this week, so if you don't mind..."

I turned around, and found myself staring right into big brown eyes. Hayden Pegg. Let's just say the tuxedo was working its magic on him too.

Not that I care. After all, he's Hayden Pegg. I would never be attracted to him, no matter what. It would basically be cheating.

Maybe I wasn't dating Max Bing, but when you're a fan, you have to stay committed. You can't just like your idol's enemy.

I managed to blush and glare at the same time, and then went back to my seat.

By this time, other celebrities were showing up, and sitting down at their tables. I saw Polly Tiffner, and I was pretty sure that Lia Burns had just walked past me.

I was in heaven.

I took another picture and Snapchatted it to my best friends back home. We were all huge Max Maniacs, and I knew they were freaking out that I was here.

They were also pretty bummed when I didn't bring them on this trip, but to me, it's family first. They mean so much to me, there's no way I wouldn't bring them.

My best friend, Kayla, immediately sent a WhatsApp to our group called Max And Mac.

Kaylies: Don't have too much fun without us. And make sure to take a billion pics with bæ.

I couldn't help but laugh. Kayla was just the kind of person who could make me laugh in two seconds, just by looking at me. Being around her just put me in a better mood.

My phone vibrated again. An Instagram notification

TheLoveOfMayaLife: @. Julesandjewels Missing you like crazy. Chinese food night just isn't the same without you.

Even though I was having the time of my life, I couldn't help but feel a little but homesick after seeing the picture of them all in our matching onesies. Once a week, my besties and I would get Chinese food and watch soap operas. I guess tonight was the night, and the three of them were doing it without me.

I didn't feel homesick for too long. The lights went out, and the award show started.

Next to me, Max was sitting up excitedly, as if ready to win a prize already. He was a shoo in for some of them, at least in my opinion.

Then again, Hayden Pegg was giving him a serious run for his money.

Even though Hayden was only seventeen, which made him a year younger than Max, he had done better in records sales this year. Max had been played more on the radio though, so it was tough to know who would win.

I looked up at Hayden to see how he was handling the pressure, only to see that he was already looking at me.

I blushed beet red, and looked to the side. Hayden was sitting right across from me, so eventually, I would have to make eye contact with him.

When I looked back up, he just winked at me and went back to looking at the announcer, who was rambling on about what an honor it was to host.

Twenty minutes later, the awards had already begun. Rachel Opal had won music video of the year, Chase Isles won Best Lyrics, and they were about to announce the winner of the Teen Heartthrob award.

This one was always a big deal. It was chosen by fans, so every fandom went all out to get their idol to win.

I honestly had no idea who would win. Out loud and on Instagram I always said that it was so obvious to me that Max Bing would win, but in reality, I knew that Haydenizers weren't a small group, and they were nothing if not dedicated. I guess I'd just have to wait and see.

They announce nominees, but nobody really cared. There may be four nominees but everyone knew it was really between Max and Hayden.

I turned to look at Max. "Good luck," I whispered.

"Thanks. Won't need it though, I have this one in the bag," he whispered back.

I couldn't help but smile. This was the kind of thing that made me fall for Max Bing. He was just so charismatic, cocky and kind all at the same time.

"And the winner is..." I heard the announcer say.

I held my breath. No matter who won, there would be an uncomfortable moment when the loser had to sit at the table and no one would no what to say.

I couldn't even imagine myself saying "sorry, maybe next time," to Hayden Pegg.

"Max Bing!" The announcer yelled.

Everyone started clapping, and I couldn't help myself. I threw my arms around Max's neck. "Congratulations."

I could hear the cameras going off, but I didn't mind. When was I going to have another chance to do that?

Hayden took his loss well, which was something I wasn't expecting from Hollywood's badboy. He just clapped politely, and smiled.

He saw me looking at him. "It's not that big of a deal," he said. "He won this time. I have a feeling next time we compete, I'll win the prize."

I couldn't help but feel like that had some deeper meaning.

The awards continued, and then it was time for performances. Polly Tiffner was on stage dancing like her life depended on it when Hayden disappeared from the table.

A few minutes later, I had to excuse myself to use the bathroom. I don't think Max even noticed that his date disappeared. He was too busy talking to his manager.

I went off on a search for the bathroom. I walked down a hallway, until I saw Hayden Pegg sitting on the floor, head in his hands, resting on his legs.

Something was clearly wrong, but it was clearly none of my business. I didnt know the guy, and he wasn't exactly blind to the fact that I didn't like him. It's not like I could really comfort him. Still, I felt bad, seeing him look so broken on a night that should be happy for him. He had taken home three TSAs, and even performed and gotten a standing ovation.

I had a feeling this wasn't about the Teen Heartthrob award.

Suddenly he looked up and caught me standing there.

I looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I hadn't expected him to find out that I had seen him like this.

"I- I'm sorry, I didn't- I'll just go," I stuttered, backing up slowly, not caring that the bathroom was in the other direction.

"Wait," he said, and against my better judgement, I stopped.

I couldn't help it, I was curious.

I turned back to look at him. "Yeah?"

"Can you do me a favor?"

I wasn't exactly sure what I could do for a superstar, but curiosity killed the cat.

"What do you need?"

He stood up from his spot on the floor. "Do you have a car here?"
