Lakeclan was in a slight panic. Echoblaze was giving birth to her first litter, and it was taking a long time! Usually when a queen gives birth in Lakeclan it doesn't take all day.

While that was happening, 2 kits were sneaking around camp trying to get to the nursery. They were both gray kits. One of them slightly darker then the other. Suddenly, the darker kit stepped on the others tail

"Watch it Birdkit! Do you want to wake up the whole camp with my yowling?" The light gray kit hissed. Her fur bristling a tiny bit.

Birdkit rolled his eyes as he said "well sorry...I didn't mean to hurt your precious tail...." he then asked "what are we doing anyways? It's the middle of the night, and Echoblaze is kitting right now."

"I want to be one of the first to see our new playmates. The nursery has been pretty empty since Mothpaw became an apprentice."

Birdkit narrowed his eyes "Palekit, by the time they open there eyes and be ready to play with us, will be apprentices." He thought for a second, then added "good riddance to that fur ball. I don't see how you like him so much. He's so arrogant."

This time it was Palekit who rolled her eyes "'arrogant?' Please Birdkit, if anyone's arrogant, its you. And you can always head back to the stinky old elders den"she started sneaking away at one of the easier breakable moss/Bramble walls and scratching at it with her claws.

"'Stinky old elders den?' Hmmm....isn't that where a couple kits should be at?" A voice behind them said. Both kits winced lightly. It was there mother, Riverheart.

"We just wanted to check on Echoblaze..to make sure her kitting is doing ok..." Birdkit replied nervously. Palekit nodded vigorously to what her brother said.

"Oh really? I just checked up on them, and there kitting has stopped. And me and your mother gave you strict orders to not bother her." Said a different voice behind them. This time, it there father Ripplefrost.

Before either kit could say anything, the tom leaned down and picked up Palekit. The she-cat let out a squeak of alarm before struggling in her fathers hold. "Dad! Put me down! Mothpaw just came back from patrol! I don't want him seeing me like this!"

Ripplefrost let out an amused purr before muffling out "then you shouldn't of left the elders den. This is your punishment." Palekit let out a low groan before letting herself go limp in her fathers jaws.

Birdkit chuckled lightly and started following them. Suddenly he heard, "not so fast!" And felt himself being picked up by his mother. "Mom! I can walk by myself! And it was Palekit whi dragged me out here in the first place!"

Riverheart purred before saying "Birdkit, you went along with her. So your being punished the same" Birdkit let out a groan but still continued to struggle.

----meanwhile in the nursery----

Echoblaze let out a purr. She had given birth to two tiny kits. Both black kits like there father, but the tom had tiny white speckles all over his fur.

Ravenclaw rushed into the nursery, his black fur on end as he looked around before spotting the queen. Echoblaze nodded lightly and the tom sighed before walking over to them.

"Sorry it took so long....Lightshade wouldn't let me in the nursery until it was over..." he eyed the kits and asked her curiously "did you name them already?"

Echoblaze shook her head. "I wanted to wait for you. Any ideas?"

Ravenclaw looked thoughtfully at the speckled kit. "Nightkit defeinly. It looks as though the whole Night sky is in his fur"

Echoblaze nodded then look at her first born. A tiny black she-kit. "Maybe Blackkit? Or Shadekit?"

Ravenclaw shook his head "I was thinking more...Fiercekit or Blazekit. She looks like she has so much energy and fierceness in her."

"We don't even know what she'll act like." She argued.

They were about to start fighting, when Suddenly the wind blew in a holly leaf from a near by holly bush.

Both cats looked a bit startled at it before Echoblaze said "it's settled then. Her name will be....-"
