Chapter 2: In The Airport

"Did you find out who attacked us?" Sanskaar moved his lips, sipping his cup of coffee afterwards as he stared in space.

"What do you mean 'not yet', were you not even bothered about what happened to us?" Lakshya asked, pressing on his empty ear to hear from the ear-piece in his left ear, properly.

The right ear-piece of the AirPods was in Sanskaar's ears and the phone was connected to a caller, who the two were speaking to while waiting at the airport.

"Don't try turning this on us. . ." Sanskaar trialled off, willing to argue in defence.

"Were you behind it?" Lakshya blurted that question with no regret, not even caring about who he was speaking with.

"Have you lost your mind in that accident?" The caller cussed in anger, "If I had to kill you then I would've murdered you right here, in the house, it isn't even a hard job!"

Sanskaar scoffed. "Bade-Dad. . . Blame would've went on you and that's not what you're looking for, so possibility could actually be you hiring those men and staging it as an actual accident."

"Not you too, have you given your brain away for charity? Do you really think I could attempt to kill the pride of our raising reputation?"

"When it comes to money, I don't think you see any relationships Mr Maheshwari."

Sanskaar smirked hearing Lakshya and continued sipping on his coffee.

"Just land here, I'll definitely kill you two!" He threatened in a cold tone, disconnecting the call.

"It wasn't him." Sanskaar confidently uttered, looking at Lakshya. "Was it meant to be him?"

"No one from the family." Lakshya nodded at Sanskaar, convinced it was no one from their family, yet a little suspicious.

"We have so many enemies, sometimes I loose count." Lakshya uttered, shaking his head in disbelief with a small smile.

"I never expected to invite so many people to hate us, why do they make us feel like we've done them wrong when instead we've only outdone them from the business world?" Sanskaar questioned, quite serious about it, wanting an answer and Lakshya shrugged in response, not having an answer to that either.

"Excuse me. . ." The two lift their heads, seeing a female standing in front of them. "Are you the Maheshwari Brothers? Sanskaar and Lakshya?"

"Why?" Lakshya bluntly asked and she curled a nervous smile. "I'm Nitya Sharma from Aaj Tak. We heard you were dead, but I'm glad to see you alive."

"Did I ask for an introduction?"

She was silent at Lakshya's cold tone and moved her eyes to Sanskaar.

"Don't even bother, just leave." He turned her down, knowing her intention and she frowned, walking away in disappointment.

"People are right, they are filthy bastards!" Nitya cussed under her breath in annoyance, heading towards her bags.

**

"Maa, here, let me push the trolley." She politely uttered, taking in charge of pushing the trolly with their luggage's on it.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Yes, what's there to worry about?" Her mother asked, replying to her question.

"But Maa, it will be uncomfortable for you. I don't want any discomfort to trouble you, we can always find another way."

"I'm fine with this Ragini, how bad can it get? Living with Swara and Sharmishta won't be a problem for me." Her mother Janki assured Ragini, showing her willingness to stay under the same roof as Sharmishta.

Ragini simply nodded and the two headed out from the airport.

*

"I know but. . ."

"You need to start today, there shouldn't be any arguments. What if they stop by after landing? What if they come here straight after? They will hold me responsible for allowing you to slack off and fire me. I can't afford to loose my job so come right away!"

"But. . . Hello? Mayank Sir, hello?" Swara angrily glanced at her phone screen, disappointed to see it blank.

"Why, why are everyone in that office a pain in the neck?" She complained in frustration, covering her face with her pillow in annoyance.

"Swara, why do you need to go this late?"

"How did you know?" She asked, lifting her head up from her pillow, staring at her mother walk inside the room.

"A staff member from the office called on the house phone saying you weren't answering your phone and that you need to start this very moment."

"Maa. I don't wanna go!" She complained like a child, hugging onto her pillow.

"If it's important then just go." Sharmishta advised and Swara frowned, shaking her head negatively.

*

"Why does it smell nice?" She asked, sniffing while entering the hall.

"Sanskaar and Laks are coming."

"What? Wait, does this mean that news is true? Lakshya Bhai is alive and Sanskaar Bhai is out of Coma?"

Annapurna and Sujata shake their heads positively at her and she curled a wide smile over her lips.

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe this. . ." She trialled off, covering her mouth in happiness. "But, why are Dad, Bade-Papa and Adarsh so silent about it? Why do they look disturbed rather than happy?"

Sujata and Annapurna's smile slightly faded at her questions and the two looked at each other. Clueless to that question, they weren't even sure what was hatching in the minds of the men, yet a little frightened to have a thought about it being against Sanskaar and Lakshya.

*

"Thank you." Ragini paid the taxi driver, and closed the door. The taxi driver drove off after dropping Ragini and Janki at their destination.

The two slowly turned towards a house, blinking at it with slight nervousness. It wasn't Ragini's first time being here, she had came during vacations to spend time with her half-sister, Swara. It wasn't a long ago till her father passed away in an accident, she and her mother Janki had left to allow Swara, Sharmishta and Shekhar to live a happy life, yet stayed in contact as Shekhar wanted to have Ragini by his side too. However, it was Janki's first time being here, with Ragini. Her decision to stay with Sharmishta was merely for Ragini, knowing they would struggle to find accommodation, but also, Janki wanted to show Sharmishta she has no hard feelings towards her.

"Okay bye. . ." The door opened as Swara rushed out in a hurry, looking inside her bag to see she had everything she needs.

"Call me once you reach there." Sharmishta uttered, walking closer to the door.

"Haan okay."

She halted, lifting her head to see Ragini and Janki standing in front her her with their luggage's and a wide grin curled over her lips.

"You're here. . ." She trialled off and moved closer, "I feel bad now. I can't stay around much longer. But come inside. . . And make yourself comfortable." She added, blinking at the two. Swara was familiar with Janki, as she made few trips to meet Ragini during the past.

"Where are you going in such a rush?" Janki asked as she blinked at Swara with a small smile over her lips.

Swara sighed. "Work. I hate it, but if I don't go then I'll get fired and if I get fired then I won't get a job anywhere else."

"At this time?" Ragini was surprised and Swara nodded with a frown. "They're coming back that's why."

"Who, your boss's?" Swara nodded at Ragini. "But, they died didn't they?"

Swara shook her head, "One went into coma and the other one died. But apparently he's alive and the coma one is awake. . ." Ragini was confused, unable to get a clear picture and Swara inhaled a breath.

"I'll come back and explain. I'm in a hurry right now, you and Janki Maa head in."

Ragini nodded at her and Swara whizzed pass in a hurry, wanting to make it there in time and organising everything before they make an appearance.

Sharmishta, who was by the door nervously stepped out, curling a small smile to welcome the two inside.

*

"Why is the media at the airport?" Ram frustratedly questioned while yelling through the phone. Durga Prasad, who was sat, scrolling through his contact list, looked up surprisingly.

"Media at the airport?" He closed his eyes as he inhaled. "What is happening!" Durga Prasad roared, welcoming his unwanted anger in this situation.

Ram disconnected the call, sighing as he faced Durga Prasad.

"I don't know. Now that the media are at the airport waiting for Sanskaar and Lakshya, it's going to be chaotic to reach them in peace, what if they answer the reporters questions?"

"If they do then we will be doomed. . ." Durga Prasad trialled off as he blinked at Ram. "Those two filthy rats won't pay respect to anything we say."

A thought clicked in Ram's active mind as he let a small gasp escape his mouth. "What if they're the ones leaking the news?"

Durga Prasad looked on, not even thinking about that in the first place. Now suspiciously occupying his mind to link everything up.
