It has been a few days since their camp had been overrun by walkers leaving carnage in their wake. It had been days since he saw his younger sister and niece, not knowing if they were alive or roaming the world with the rest of the undead.

The group had made the mistake of thinking they were okay, thinking they were prepared, but they weren't and they had found that out the hard way.

Ozzy had tried running after Odette and Rigby once he made sure Gia was okay, but it was pointless the walkers just kept coming and he still wasn't sure how Gia and he made it out without worse than they did. The same couldn't be said about the group they had been with.

"Dad, we need to rest." Gia said, wiping the sweat from her forehead as the father-daughter duo continued walking through the woods.

The days had began to take a toll on the teenager. She wanted to find her aunt and cousin just as much as her dad did, but killing themselves before they could would be a waste.

They were running out of water and food and they were both in serious need of some form of sleep, because if they continued on this way there was no way they were going to find Odette and Rigby.

Ozzy stopped walking and looked over at his daughter, she was drenched in sweat, her cheeks were a bright red due to sunburn and her blue eyes had deep, dark bags under them. Gia had taken to this new world almost as well as he did. She learned fast and understood, but this was never the life he wanted for her. This shouldn't have to be her new normal.

"Yeah." Ozzy nodded in agreement. "There might be a house or something up head that we can rest in." He added as he eyed the clearing up head.

Hopefully there was an abandoned house or a barn were they could rest for the night, but Ozzy had learned to give up on hope a long time again.

"Aunt Odette is strong." Gia said as they continued walking towards the edge of the woods. "I'm sure they're okay."

Even as the words left her mouth, Gia wasn't so sure she believed them. Her aunt was strong that's not what she didn't believe, but this world was so different and Odette didn't take to it as easily like her dad and she had. Odette had a lost doe look and people would take advantage of it โ€” especially now. Most days, Gia felt like she were older than her aunt.

"Yeah." Ozzy said softly, the pair grew quiet as their heads filled with thoughts and scenarios.

The sudden sound of a twig snapping pulled the father-daughter duo from their thoughts. Ozzy and Gia quickly turned around, knives ready in their hands for a battle if need be. Their eyes scanned the woods, it was silent no groans or footsteps to be heard and nothing to be seen.

"Probably just a squirrel." Gia whispered, her knife still tightly in her hand as she continued scanning the trees.

Ozzy nodded, his dark eyes squinting as he continued to stare down the trees. "Let's keep going." He said still holding onto his knife before turning back on his heel.

Ozzy had the strange feeling someone or something had been following them for the last couple of days. Whoever or whatever it was was damn good at hiding it's tracks and being quiet, but Ozzy knew something wasn't right.

"Dad, there's a house." Gia said with small relief passing through her exhausted body.

The old abandoned farm house looked like heaven in Gia's eyes. It didn't matter that the grass was overgrown or it looked like a monster from a horror movie would take it's victims there. It was a place to sleep and that's all that mattered to her.

Ozzy eyed the old abandoned farm house as he exited the woods. A sense of relief took over his body at the sight of the home. It had been days since he had seen a house or gotten any kind of sleep. He needed to get some rest and then continue looking for Odette and Rigby. Ozzy knew he needed a clear head before continuing his search or else he'd be useless.

"I'll take the upstairs and you take downstairs." Ozzy stated as he and Gia reached the house. He knew Gia was more than capable of clearing out a room or two if she needed to.

Gia nodded as she held her knife tightly in her hand as Ozzy pushed the door open, a loud screeching noise coming from the tired old door. He quickly walked inside, giving Gia a nod before hurrying up the stairs, leaving Gia to make sure everything was alright downstairs.

Ozzy stopped outside the first door, taking a breath before pushing it open and stepping inside. His dark eyes scanned the room, there was nothing inside but a dresser and an old bed. Ozzy quickly left the room and headed to the next, the second room was bigger with a large bed inside of it and blood splattered around the room, but empty.

A sigh left Ozzy's mouth as he stared at the family photo hanging on the wall. The family of four all looked so happy with big smiles on their faces as though nothing could ruin their happiness, but too they didn't know what would eventually happen to the world.

"Gia, you good down there?" Ozzy asked as he exited the room and started down the stairs.

"Yeah. It's all clear." Gia said as she walked back into the foyer. "All clear up there?" She asked while wiping the sweat from her forehead.

Ozzy nodded. "Go get some rest. I'm gonna stay up for a little bit." He added while placing a kiss on top of Gia's head.

"Don't stay up too late. You need to rest too." Gia stated as she made her way up the stairs.

"I won't." He promised while turning his attention to the windows, staring at the woods.

"๐–๐‡๐Ž ๐€๐‘๐„ ๐˜๐Ž๐”?"

Gia's voice woke Ozzy up the next morning. He wasn't sure when he fell asleep, last thing he remembered was staring out the window and now he was waking up to the sound of Gia's voice.

"Can you put the knife down?" An unknown man's voice spoke with a hint of nervousness to it.

Ozzy quickly and quietly got up from position and made his way up the stairs where Gia and the unknown man's voice were coming from.

"Why would I put down my knife? I don't know you." Gia stated as she held her knife tightly against the man's neck.

"I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to help you." The man said as he eyed the knife.

Ozzy pushed the door open, his own knife in his hand as he stared at his daughter holding the man against the wall with her knife against his neck. His dark eyes stared at the short dark haired bearded man.

"Gia, let him go." Ozzy said as he removed his eyes from the man and onto his daughter.

"What? Dad, we don't even know who this guy is. I found him sneaking around the house." Gia said as her forehead furrowed in confusion at her dad's words.

"Gia." Ozzy said firmly.

Gia stared at the man for a moment before removing the knife from his throat. She didn't understand what he dad was doing. This wasn't the old world where you could trust new people. That world was long gone.

"Who are you?" Ozzy questioned as he moved in front of Gia, putting himself in front of this unknown guy and his daughter.

"I'm Aaron. I'm here to help you."
