GIA KEPT HER EYES TRAINED ON THE MYSTERIOUS MAN NAMED AARON. SHE KEPT HER KNIFE STILL TIGHTLY IN HER HAND AS HER DAD TALKED IN HUSHED TONES WITH THE STRANGER.
Aaron would look over at her every so often with a small awkward smile on his face. It only made Gia grip her knife tighter. Smiles from strangers didn't bring her any ease especially in a world like this.
People would smile at you and act innocent, when in fact they were the most evil person you could even happen to stumble upon. This new world didn't have rules and the survivors of this cruel world didn't play by any rules.
The teenager began to chew at the skin around her nails. A bad habit that had begun once her mother died when she was only seven. It bought her comfort in times when it felt like she was loosing control — which a lot of times Gia felt like she was.
"What are we doing?" Gia continued to chew on her skin, growing irritated with standing around and doing nothing.
They should be out there looking for her aunt and cousin but here they were standing in this old, stale, cobweb filled house, talking to this fucking guy and doing absolutely nothing.
"Aunt Odette and Rigby are out there and we're talking to this fucking weirdo. No offense." The teenager quickly added as she looked at Aaron who gave her a small smile in return.
"None taken." He said with a small laugh. "Um, I'll let you two talk. I'll be outside." He pointed towards the door before leaving the father and daughter alone.
Ozzy waited until he heard footsteps go down the stairs and the door close to start speaking,
"Aaron says there's this place." He began as he looked at Gia with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "It's called Alexandria and it's like a community. It's got houses, people, and food." His voice filling with hope the more he talked.
Gia could hear the hopefulness in her dad's voice and it made a rage burn inside of her. Her dad didn't get hopeful at the words of a stranger.
It was so fucking strange for her dad to just want to go where this man had said. This wasn't like him. If anyone was built for a world like this one it was Ozzy Doherty.
He didn't blindly trust random people and he knew what happened to those who did, so why was this man different and why was her dad acting like this?
He didn't get his hopes up anymore in this world and he sure as fuck didn't believe communities full of people and food actually existed. All he believed in was surviving from one day to the next and making sure his family survived with him, but this hopeful man in front of her wasn't her dad and it made her full of rage.
He was the one who had taught her to never be hopeful in this new shitty world yet here he was looking every bit of hopeful as he could.
"You really fucking believe that guy? We don't even know him for all we know he could be a fucking killer setting up a trap for us." Gia's words were harsh as she tried to keep her tone down.
Ozzy pinched the bridge of his nose at his daughter's words, "look, we can't keep going on like this. We have no food and no idea where Odette and Rigby are. We need to regroup and make a plan."
"Maybe these people can help us. They know more about this area than we do." He added in a desperate attempt to calm the rage inside of his daughter.
Gia pursed her lips as she listen to her dad's words. It was true these people could probably help them but at what cost? Would they want something in return? Something they couldn't offer them.
"Fine." Her tone reluctant. "But, we look for Odette and Rigby tomorrow morning. I'm not leaving them out there any longer." She stated firmly, brushing past her dad before exiting the room in a huff.

IT WASN'T TOO LONG OF A JOURNEY TO THIS Alexandria place Aaron had talked about. Aaron seemed like an okay guy, he talked a lot as they made their way there which Gia really wished he just shut the fuck up but, he was okay so far.
"They'll want to ask you both some questions when we arrive. Rick Grimes is the guy running the place if that's what you want to call it. He's a good guy — fair." Aaron said as they walked through the woods.
"So it's a dictatorship." Gia stated matter of factly as she hoisted her backpack higher up on her shoulders.
This didn't seem as promising as her dad had said. A community with a man making rules and telling her what to do didn't seem like an ideal place to her.
Aaron let out a laugh at her words, "No. We all work together to make sure Alexandria is safe but Rick," Aaron paused as he tried to find the right words. "Well, you'll see." He said deciding to remain quiet for the rest of the journey.
The silence was a nice welcome to Gia. She couldn't handle anymore talking it was becoming too much for her. She just wanted to be left alone with her own thoughts until they got to this new place.
The teenager couldn't help but let her thoughts wander to her aunt and cousin. Were they safe? Were they hurt? Or worse? Did the walkers get them as soon as they fled from the group and they were just out there roaming around with their flesh rotting from their bones. It made Gia's mind hurt thinking all of the possibilities.
"We're here." Aaron announced with a small smile as his voice pulled Gia from her dark thoughts.
Gia eyed a tall fence, a sign posted on the outside of it that read 'ALEXANDRIA — SAFE ZONE.' She saw two men in a watch tower wave down to Aaron, rifles in their arms as they quickly moved to open the fence.
The teen looked over at her dad, reaching for his hand the father-daughter duo squeezed each other's hands reassuringly.
Gia could only fucking hope her dad had made the right decision for them. A better life awaited them on the other side or death.

oh look, another awkward ending. I really loved writing in Gia's pov. I loved seeing the relationship with her dad from her pov. Next chapter will be back to Odette. Also, would you like a chapter in Rigby's pov?
