CHAPTER ELEVEN ✞

THE SILK DARK DRESS CLUNG TO Odette's skin. It felt like a second skin that was much too tight and she hated it, but Negan had demanded she wear it and while she wanted to defy him, she wouldn't. Negan was in control and Odette ( hesitantly ) needed to behave if she wanted to continue to keep Rigby and herself alive.

"You look pretty." Rigby's voice was full of amazement as she smiled at Odette.

It had been so long since she saw her mom dressed nicely in clean clothes. All of their clothes had dirt and sweat stains on them — along with some blood here and there — it didn't matter if her mom spent hours — until her fingers bled trying to scrub them clean.

A soft smile formed on Odette's delicate features. Rigby's smile was so wide on her own face that I made Odette forget about the current hatred running through her body for Negan.

"You look pretty too, baby." The wide eyed woman stared at her daughter's own clean and new clothes that Dwight had delivered a few hours ago.

Of course the scarred man had muttered a few words before begrudgingly taking the mother and daughter's dirty, smelly clothes away mumbling a "they'll get washed" before leaving.

"Thank you mommy. I wonder why Mr. Negan wants us to visit him." The dark haired girl wondered as she twirled around in her new dress.

Odette cringed at the way Rigby had begun to call Negan mister Negan like he was of importance and deserved to be treated with such respect. He was a psycho who forced people to fear him with his beloved bat casually over his shoulder.

A loud knock on the door pulled Odette's attention away from Rigby, taking a deep breath she slowly made her way towards the door.

"Negan is ready for you." Simon the man Odette had seen earlier wore a smirk on his face as he eyed Odette up and down.

She could feel her skin crawling as he stared at her, his smirk making her wish Negan himself had come to get her. Maybe if she were a braver woman or if it were only herself she was caring about she'd tell the man to fuck off, but she couldn't so Odette swallowed the offense words back down her throat.

"Let's go. He doesn't like to be kept waiting." Simon snapped his finger in front of Odette's wide eyes.

Odette simply nodded at his words, wishing she could swat his dirty fingers away from her face.

"Come on, Rigby." Odette turned towards the six year old with a smile on her face, holding her hand out towards her. She just wanted to get this night over with.

Rigby quickly grabbed her mother's hand, the wide smile still on her face as they exited the room following behind the mean man with a funny looking mustache.

NEGAN WAS QUIET, WATCHING ODETTE and her little cub as they entered his room. A smirk sat on his bearded face as he watched the mother—daughter duo wide eyes look around his room. Their wide eyes gave away the fact that they were related had Negan not noticed them he would have thought the little cub was just someone Odette had found.

He could see the nervousness on Odette's face as she held tightly onto Rigby's hand. He wanted to reassure her, but that wasn't who he was.

"Please sit down." Negan finally spoke and though he had been polite about his demand there was an authoritative tone in his voice.

Rigby quickly skipped over towards the small table he was sitting at, making a laugh fall from his lips. He had felt a protective need over her in the short amount of time since she arrived at the sanctuary.

While her daughter quickly made her way towards him, Odette slowly walked towards him with her typical doe wide eyes. He could see she felt uncomfortable — maybe even annoyed — at him which made the smirk on his face grow even more.

"It's nice in here Mr. Negan." Rigby commented as she sat down next to him.

"Thank you little cub." He nodded while ruffling her dark hair though his eyes were glued to Odette.

The dress he had Dwight bring to her earlier glued to her body like a second skin and it made Negan's blood rise a little. He had known immediately that the dress would be perfect for her once his wives presented it to him.

"Well shit," Negan cursed as he watched Odette finally take a seat at the table. "You clean up nice mama bear." A low whistle left his lips as his eyes trailed over her body.

"Thanks." Odette muttered immediately feeling the urge to cover herself up as she felt Negan's hungry eyes stare at her like she was a helpless sheep and he the big bad wolf.

Odette swallowed down the anger that pulsated at the back of her throat. She didn't want to be here and she didn't mean just in this room, but this world. This new cruel fucking world.

"Well, I guess I should get to why I invited you here tonight. I felt like a little dinner would be nice and cozy — family like if you will." The smirk on his face grew with his words.

"We're not family, Negan." Odette quickly corrected before she could swallow the words. "I mean, we don't know each other enough." The blue eyed woman quickly corrected herself as she noticed the smirk drop from his face.

Had she finally messed up? Would Negan take her words as disrespect and smash her head in with his bat? If he did she just hoped that Rigby would be safe.

Negan ran a hand over his beard as he stared at Odette. "Well shit, that's why I'm havin' this dinner. Now eat." He demanded, winking at Rigby before cutting into his food while Odette and Rigby followed.

IT HAD FELT LIKE HOURS to Odette since they finished their awkward dinner. Negan had talked a lot filling in the quietness from Odette. While she offered a few nods and quiet hums in response, Rigby had talked a mile a minute — entertaining Negan with her theatrical style of telling stories.

It almost looked and felt like a normal dinner with a mother, her daughter, and a man laughing at the young child, but only it wasn't. Negan wasn't some friend or anything normal. Odette needed to remind Rigby of this.

"This has been fun baby cub, but I think it's bed time for you." Negan stated his eyes wandered over toward Odette. She had been quiet most of the night and Negan wanted more from the mysterious woman whose eyes made him feel a bit normal in this fucked up world.

Odette felt relief at Negan's words.

"But, I think mama bear should stay for a little bit."

The relief she had suddenly felt quickly vanished. She didn't want to stay here and act like this was all normal. She couldn't do that.

Rigby looked at her mom for a moment before looking back at Negan. "But, who will put me to bed?" She questioned with curiosity in her soft voice.

Negan hummed to himself while rubbing a hand over his beard. "Sherry can. Do you remember Sherry?"

Rigby nodded a smile forming on her face. "Yes. She's nice I like her."

Odette had heard the woman's name before but had yet to put a name to her face. Rigby seemed to like her but she also liked Negan.

"Well good. Sherry will put you to bed and I'll talk with mama bear for a little." Negan quickly took a few strides towards the door ordering Dwight who had been on the other side for sometime to get Sherry.

Everything in Odette's body wanted to scream. She didn't want to be left alone with Negan anymore than she had been. The other night sleeping in the truck was too much for her. Maybe she could fake sick and she'd be allowed to leave as well.

"Sherry is waiting for you outside." Negan's voice broke Odette from her thoughts.

Rigby quickly stood up, wrapping her arms around Odette. "Goodnight mom." She said before skipping towards the door and saying goodnight to Negan before leaving.

"Well fuck, guess it's just us adults now." Negan smirked as he closed the door and made his way back towards Odette.

Odette nodded not trusting her mouth not to lash out at the man.

"Tell me mama bear, what was your life like before all of this bullshit."

A lump formed in the back of Odette's throat at Negan's question. Everything inside of her was screaming to just run out the door, run and take Rigby and herself out of there, but she knew Negan and his followers would find her before she could get too far away. She was a prisoner here, trapped with this man who didn't care about anyone but himself.

"What do you want to know?" Her voice shaky as her wide eyes stared into Negan's mischievous ones.

"Everything."
