Tiso x (Damselfly)Reader

(similar to the quirrel oneshot, this was meant for a female reader but if you want it to be a male reader just flip the pronouns around lol ok have fun this was hard to write)

The Colosseum of Fools. You had heard of it for years, never daring to try and look for it. It was hidden at the edge of a kingdom you had never visited. Bugs would always tell of adventurers from all over the world searching to find it, and would never return. But you decided it was time to change that. You were going to find the Colosseum, and you were going to compete in it. As a warrior.

You decided that a long time ago, which is why you were stepping foot into a small town you had never been in. It was calm and peaceful, yet desolate. But you knew that it was not where you needed to be.

"Why hello there, traveler!" An old voice called to you. It was a sweet old bug, standing still by a metal bench. You didn't notice him at first because of how still he was.

"Oh, hello!" You responded. "I would love to chat, sir, but I'm on a quest and I really must get moving." To this, the old bug smiled, although it was a slightly sad one.

"Alright then, be on your way! I wish you luck in your journey!" He waved to you, and you waved back. You began to take off, your wings taking you into the air just so you could see the whole town, searching for anything that would get you closer to your destination. You found no answers, but you spotted another bug standing near a well. You decided to zip down and talk to him, seeing if he knew where it might be.

"Hi there!" You greeted, now standing in front of the bug. Looking him over, he was shorter than you by about an inch. He had a hood on that had a point behind his head, which meant he was, in reality, even shorter. You could tell by the body shape that this bug was an ant. He was wearing armor, but he wasn't in any danger so you wondered why. He also held a gleaming, silver shield in his left arm. The bug jumped at your sudden greeting, but you took no notice of it.

"Greetings." The ant nodded in greeting. He seemed like he wanted nothing to do with you, so you tried to make the introduction short.

"My name is Y/N, and I'm searching for the Colosseum of Fools. Do you happen to know where that is?" You asked. His face seemed to light up slightly at the mention of the Colosseum, but he quickly returned to his original state. He shook his head.

"No. But that's where I'm heading as well. Only true warriors can survive there, and I believe that I am one of those warriors. My name is Tiso, and I have won countless battles against foes, and my shield hides a deadly surprise that you would not want to witness in action. He bragged. "What makes you think you're a worthy warrior, dragonfly?" Tiso looked you up and down, challenging you.

"First off, I'm not a dragonfly. I'm a damselfly. Dragonflies have sharper, longer wings and shorter bodies. And second off, because I have come from a completely different kingdom to get here, little ant. I traveled all the way from the peak of Pharloom just to get here. Do I look beaten up or tired? No, I don't believe I do. I don't plan to until I get to the Colosseum, so you can shut your mouth." You retorted. Tiso stepped back slightly, as you were now towering over him. He tried to keep his posture, but you were hovering a few inches above the ground and leaning over him so if he did, your faces would be touching. Instead he sat down on the edge of the well.

"Hmph. I suppose that is warrior worthy... but that doesn't mean that I'm not, damselfly. Don't try to upstage me. I am a warrior." Tiso tried to sound confident, but he was tripping over his words partially and his cheeks had a very slight hint of pink.

"So..." You returned to your upright posture. "Do you know how to get there or not?" You placed your hand on your hip. The ant shook his head, as if clearing something from his mind, and looked up at you.

"I do not. However, I am searching for it. It has been a long, lonely road and I would be pleased if-" Tiso explains, drawing out his words, but you cut him off.

"You want me to come with you?"

"W-What?! Of course not! A true warrior travels alone!" He stammers, flustered, and his face blushes a mad red. You laugh.

"Welp, too late for that, because I'm coming with you." You tease. Tiso snorts and folds his arms, turning away from you, but you can sense the relief in his expression.

"Fine. So be it, then. But you'd better not bother me. I'm actually trying to achieve a goal here." He scoffed. You rolled your eyes. He was such a brat, but he was kinda cute, so you didn't mind.

"Whatever, ant. Let's go." You pushed him off to the side, your hand on his torso, but when you retracted your arm your fingers just slightly brushed his. You didn't really mind, it was only an accident, so you did an insane parkour leap over the edge of the well and soared down. You opened your wings just in time to stop yourself from the impact of hitting the ground, but Tiso wasn't going to be as lucky.

"aaAAAAAGH!!" He shouted, his limbs flailing as he fell ungracefully down the well. You swooped down and caught him just before he hit the ground, holding him like a prince who had just rescued a troubled maiden. He looked up at you, his grateful gaze meeting yours and his face slightly pink. However, it only lasted a moment before he started to complain. Of course.

"Put me down this instant! A warrior doesn't need rescuing! I was fine!" Tiso ordered. You laughed, which got him even more flustered.

"Whatever you say, Tiso." You opened your arms, and he fell onto the cold, hard ground. He grunted, but was not hurt all that badly. Then you coughed, getting his attention, and motioning with your head over towards the well opening. He looked to where you gestured, then back, confusion and annoyance clear on his face.

"There was a chain you could have slid down, ya doink." You roll your eyes, amused but slightly irritated. This bug was clearly not the brightest. Tiso looked back at the well again, shocked and embarrassed, and refused to meet your gaze afterwards.

"I-I knew that!! I just didn't use it because, uh... warriors don't need help with anything! Yeah." He stuttered. You giggled, covering your mouth so Tiso wouldn't notice. You glided over him, landing on the ground ahead and began to walk. You didn't know where you were going, but you knew if you kept going you had to reach the Colosseum eventually, right?

"Just where do you think you're going, Y/N?" Tiso called after you. You turned around, walking backwards so you could face him while speaking.

"To the Colosseum. Where else?" You asked, still walking backwards.

"Well, uh- wait for me! You need a warrior to protect you!" He started to run towards you. You slightly gasped at his second sentence, which he noticed and began to scold himself. You couldn't make out what he was saying, but you weren't sure if you wanted to. A brilliant idea came to you, to which you used to tease Tiso more.

"Ah, well, I guess you won't be that warrior." You shrugged, stepped backwards and fell so that Tiso could no longer see you. He gasped and ran over towards the edge that you fell down, only to find that it wasn't that far of a fall and you were no longer there.

"Y/N?" He called, looking up. You flew up behind him, very quickly put your arms on his shoulders and shouted, causing him to jump into your arms in fear. This was the second time you had held him in the past few minutes, so you dropped him again.

"Pull yourself together, 'warrior'. Come on, we're wasting time." You mocked. Tiso stood up, practically fuming, which made you laugh. Before he could say anything, you flew ahead, leaving Tiso behind to fend for himself. You were going to wait for him to catch up, but you could tell he needed time to himself.

You and Tiso hadn't adventured for long, but now the both of you were waiting in a stag station while he caught his breath. An old stag was waiting at the platform, and you were sitting there and speaking with him. He was very old, and told of many stories about what happened in his travels. You had noticed that Tiso kept sneaking looks at you, but you didn't mind. It didn't really matter.

"I'm incredibly sorry young one, but I must go. I can hear the station bell calling me from across the kingdom. I hope we can speak again!" The Stag apologizes, so you wave as he speeds away to wherever the bell rang from. Stags must have incredible hearing because you heard nothing.

"Y/N? Can you come over here for a second?" Tiso asked from the bench behind you. You walked over and sat down next to him.

"Sure. What's up?" You ask. He looks at you sincerely, which is something you've never seen him do.

"I wanted to say... well, um.. thank you. For coming with me. I wasn't sure I would be able to get to the Colosseum on my own, but now I'm sure that I'll make it there." Tiso explained, no longer meeting your gaze and his face now slightly more red than usual. You grabbed his hand and squeezed it in reassurance, but did not hold it for longer than that.

"It's no problem. I would have been so lost if I did this by myself, haha." You chuckle. Then you stand up from the bench and walk behind it, flicking the side of Tiso's head with your fingers as you pass him. He reaches his hand up and rubs lightly where you got him, now more irritated than sincere.

"What was that for?" He snapped. You begin to bounce, excitedly heading towards the doorway that let you out of the stag station.

"Well, we're not going to sit here all day, are we? We have an arena to get to. Come on!"

To be continued...
