Knight & (Vessel)Reader

(someone requested this and I thought it was so cuuuuuute so I just had to do it to 'em. in my headcanon vessels can speak with each other but not with any other creature so uh enjoy. also happy easter)

"Hello?" You called out, knowing full well that the creature on the other side of the bridge could not hear you. You were a failed vessel of the Pale King, tossed into the abyss to be forgotten forever. Somehow you escaped, and from what you know, you're the only one who has. You could be wrong though.

You were standing on one end of a long bridge that stretched across a pool of acid. On the other side, you spotted a creature about your height, but that's all you could make out.

"Hello?" You called again. This time, you could see it move, if only slightly. That surprised you all on it's own, but what shocked you even more was what happened next.

"Hello!" It called back. Your heart started racing. You had finally found one of your kind! They were a vessel! A void being... a sibling! They were most likely just as surprised as you were.

"I'm coming over there! Stay put, alright?" You called, then started to dash across the thin bridge you were provided. It was really happening. What you had dreamed of ever since you can remember. When you reached the other side, you were greeted by an adolescent vessel, your height. Their cloak was a dark grey-blue and very tattered. They had two long horns atop their head, and they each had two small spikes on the top. Their nail was very old, and needed fixing.

"Wait, you're... you're a vessel too??" They exclaimed at the sight of you. You looked quite different from them. Your cloak was a pale lavender, and you had four horns instead of two. You had two larger ones near the middle of your head, then two smaller ones that rested outside of them. But you both had the clean white shell and black body. There was no doubt about it anymore. You had found another vessel.

"Yes!! I never, ever thought I would meet another vessel in my entire life, but then I found you!" You cheered. The other vessel did a small victory dance, as if they had just won a game. But then their eyes widened, and they stepped back.

"Wait. You're not Nosk, are you?!" They grabbed the end of their nail. You laughed.

"Of course not! That bugger lives in Deepnest. Remember?" You overexaggerated all of your movements, as if talking to a baby. You were teasing them. They let go of their nail, confused, then looked up and smiled.

"You're right! I'm sorry, I'm just kinda on edge." They apologized. You nodded in understanding, trying you best to remain calm. In reality, you wanted to leap forward and hug the vessel. But you knew it was too soon. The two of you sat in silence for a few moments, unsure of what to say.

"So how did you get out?" You both say at the same time. Then you both laugh.

"I don't know." You respond. They do too. At the same time. Then you both start laughing again. But you don't know what else to say, and apparently neither do they. An idea comes to you, though, after you sit in another awkward silence for a while.

"Hey, the gate may not be open, but I know another way. Do you want to go in? It's the City of Tears, for goodness sake. It's beautiful." You ask, motioning upwards with your hand. They nod, so you perform a cool manoeuvre, using your mantis claw to climb up the locked door, then leaping off of it near the top. You dash forwards, then use your monarch wings to leap up into a tiny hole in the ceiling. Using your mantis claw once more, you climb up the wall of the gap until you reach the opening above.

"You try it!" You call to the vessel below you. They attempt it a few times, failing, but after that they're able to make it. Barely. Now the both of you are in a long hallway, with thorns covering the ground in some areas.

"Come on! It's just this, and then we're there." You run and take a leap over a pool of thorns, the other vessel following behind. Once you've arrived at the end of the hall, you leap down the gap in the ground. Looking behind you, there's the large locked door. You were officially in your favorite spot in Hallownest. The City of Tears.

"Oh hey! Before we go in, can I ask something?" The vessel asks, landing on the ground behind you. You nod.

"What's your name? Like, what do people call you?" They look at you, awaiting an answer.

"Ah! Um, I mean I guess it would be Y/N. What about yours?" You respond, looking back at them while still walking towards the entrance of the city.

"I've been called Knight, because I look like the Hollow Knight, but I've also been called Little Ghost, so whatever you want." They shrug. You had never heard of names like that before, but you had also never met another vessel until now, so there's a  first time for everything, you guess. Then an idea comes to you. An amazing, fantastic, wonderful idea. You turn to face Ghost, a smug look on your face. You had no mouth, so you could not smile, but if you did you certainly would be right now.

"How about we have a little fun? It's not like we have anything better to do, after all."

"Haha! Can't get me, ya doofus!" You taunted a large Great Husk Sentry, bouncing off of its shield with your nail and leaping over it, then dashing just out of reach as it swung its nail mindlessly at you.

"What about me?" Ghost ran up from behind you, copying your motions on the other side of the Sentry while you slashed at its backside with your nail, and eventually both if your combined efforts were enough to bring it down.

"Yes!!" You cheered, raising your nail in the air. Ghost raised theirs up to meet yours, and the metals made a loud clang as they clashed.

"Oh is that a challenge, sir?" You leapt back into a defensive, yet playful stance. Ghost leapt backwards as well, mirroring your actions. You took this as a way to get them to do something silly, so you placed down your nail. They did the same. You did a little hop. They did as well.

"Why are you copying me?" You asked.

"Why are you copying me?" Ghost answered, trying hard not to laugh. You groaned. They did too. But your next action took them by surprise. You walked up to them, lightly poked them in between the eyes, then pulled them into a tight hug.

"I'm so glad I found you, Ghost." You said quietly, feeling them slowly return the embrace.

"I'm happy I found you too, Y/N." They answered. The both of you sat like that for a while, your tiny bodies standing perfectly still. Then Ghost pulled away, which made you slightly sad, but you were siblings. You'll have another chance.

"Boop!" They giggled, doing the same motion you did earlier, lightly poking the area between your eyes. You smirked, an evil smile growing across your face. Ghost began to run away, knowing what they had just done.

"Oh, you're in for it, ya doof!" You shouted, chasing them across the city square. You knew you may never see Ghost again after today, but it was alright. Meeting them gave you hope in that there were more vessels out there. They were the first, and hopefully not the last. Plus, you were siblings. You had to see each other again. You had a feeling, deep down in your gut, that you would. You just weren't sure how or when.
