7: Coming Back

Evie's Point of View

I sat down on a rock in Kisuke's basement. It's so strange. I slept for about a day, but I'm exhausted.

Maybe it's a side effect, Rachel said. Toshiro said the Captains fell over in pain when trying to remember something. Maybe different commands give different side effects.

Maybe, I thought.

"Hey, Evie," Ichigo sat next to me. "Do you want to explain what zaiphon is now?"

"Sure," I tried to stifle a yawn. Everyone turned to me, curious too. I made the zaiphon that I wanted to use against Yajimaru form in my right hand. "Zaiphon is the flow of spirit energy pulled into one specified area. This kind that I'm holding is called attack zaiphon."

"How come it kind of feels like hatred and anger?" Ichigo asked.

"Zaiphon doesn't work unless if you have complete control of your emotions. I take any anger and hatred that I feel and place it with my spirit energy and can create zaiphon. Michelle helps me channel it into the concentrated area." My put my arm down and place my left arm with the palm facing up. I create another ball of zaiphon. This one was a very light blue, almost white. The feeling emitting from it felt like joy and happiness. It also felt fluffy. "This is healing zaiphon. Just like the name implies, it works for healing. Unlike attack zaiphon, I use happiness and the good emotions to channel it. Rachel helps make this kind." I made the zaiphon disappear.

Suddenly, a crash came from in front of the Senkaimon. Everyone turned to it and we all saw Toshiro lying in front of it. Did he jump out of it or something?

He stood up with a bewildered look on his face, like he wasn't expecting to find himself here again.

"Captain Hitsugaya?" Kisuke asked. "What are you doing back?"

"I don't know. I was walking straight when suddenly the cleaner appeared. I started running and when I thought I saw the exit, I jumped through. I didn't think I'd be here again," he explained. Then he proceeded to brush himself off for a second.

"It doesn't look like you'll be returning to the Soul Society anytime soon," Chad spoke up.

"How did that happen?" Uryu asked. "I didn't think it would be possible to go straight and end up in the same place that you started."

"Maybe you turned around without realizing it, Toshiro," Orhime said.

"I don't think so," he said. "I'm certain that is something you notice."

I nodded in agreement.

Toshiro faced the Senkaimon. "I think I'm going to try again."

"I'll come too," Ichigo stood up. "You never know if there's going to be danger on the other side." He pulled out his combat pass and left his body.

I perked up. "Can I come too?" I always wanted to see the Soul Society.

"But, your not a spirit," Ichigo said confused.

"When I change into my suit, it's like a shortcut to becoming a spirit without dying or leaving my body," I explained. Everyone had a shocked look on their face. Even Kisuke had one. "Are you telling me you didn't notice?" I tilted my head to the right.

"Apparently," Yoruichi finally said something.

I stood up. "I'm coming," I declared and changed into my Hollow Hunter suit. Toshiro looked like he wanted to protest but changed his mind.

Me and Ichigo walked to the Senkaimon.

"Ready?" Ichigo asked.

Toshiro nodded and I said, "Yeah."

We stepped in just after Toshiro.

"What exactly is this place?" I asked to break the silence. We had been walking for three minutes and the quiet was driving me crazy!

"This is the Dangai Precipice World, a tunnel between the World of the Living and the Soul Society," Toshiro explained.

"Alright, then. What's with the moving walls?" It looked like mud or something was moving and folding over itself over and over again.

"The Restrictive Current. It reacts to spirit energy." I could tell Toshiro was losing patience with my questions so I kept my mouth shut.

After two minutes, we saw the exit. We all started speed walking. When we stepped through, we found ourselves in...

Kisuke's basement...

"Again?" I asked.

"I could have sworn we never turned around..." Ichigo said.

"This is pretty strange," Yoruichi said. "How did Yajimaru do this?"

"The answer to that question would be nice," I mumbled to myself. Then a question came to me. "Was Yajimaru teaching class today?"

"No," Uryu said. "He wasn't teaching. Today we had someone else."

"I think it was..." Ichigo climbed back into his body. "Mrs. Mesu. Yeah, that sounds right." I changed out of my suit.

"That means we can't try to follow him again," I said disappointed.

"We couldn't follow him in the first place," Ichigo pointed out.

I shrugged. "That's true."

"I think I'm going to try to find him," Yoruichi said.

We started walking to leave the basement. I took about five steps when the ground came up to greet me, but I blacked out before it got the chance.

Ichigo's Point of View

"Evie!" Orhime cried out.

I crouched down next to her and turned so she was laying on her side.

"Is she alright?" Toshiro asked.

"I don't know. She's unconscious," I answered.

"Should I heal her?" Orhime asked.

"I don't think so," Kisuke answered her. "I don't think she needs it. Besides, you already did. I think she was just exhausted."

"She did look pretty tired," Yoruichi pointed out.

I picked her up and stood up. "We should take her back to her room."

Uryu readjusted his glasses and glanced at the giant ladder that was our only exit. "And how do you plan on doing that?"

I looked at the ladder and realized my flawed plan. "We'll have to figure something out."

When we got to the ladder, we figured out a plan. Chad helped me get Evie onto my back. Then he and Uryu climbed to the top. W hen they reached it, I heard Uryu call down, "Alright, we're ready!"

I made sure that Evie's arms were wrapped around my neck, and proceeded to climb up the ladder one-handed. Yoruichi was was right behind me to make sure Evie didn't fall.

It took about ten minutes, but I got to the top. Chad and Uryu grabbed Evie and lifted her off my back. The only reason it took so long is because, even though she looks light, you never know the weight of somebody until you carry them up a ladder.

Chad brought Evie to her room. When we were all out of the basement, Kisuke turned to me, Orhime, Uryu and Chad. "Why don't you head home now. I'm sure Evie will wake up by morning. If she doesn't I'll call you over here.

"Alright," I said and we started walking out the door.

"Bye!" Orhime called.

~~~
I woke up the next morning to a knock. "Wake up, Ichigo!" Yuzu called from behind the closed door. "You're going to be late for school! Your friends Keigo, Mizuiro and Evie are waiting for you outside!"
Evie was here?
"Thanks Yuzu!" I called to let her know I was up. Then I stood up, opened the window and saw she was right. My three friends were waiting for me. "Give me a second!" I called down to them. "I just woke up!"
"Yeah, no problem!" Keigo called back.
"Just hurry up!" Evie went on. "Or we'll be late for school!"
I quickly changed and ran outside. "Hey, guys. Let's go."
When we started walking, I slowed down so I could walk next to Evie. "Are you alright?" I asked in a low voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just tired."
"I noticed."
"Rachel thinks it was some kind of side effect from having Yajimaru enter my mind."
"Then how come the Captains fell over in pain?"
"She thinks different commands give different side effects. I was told to sleep so I did for twenty-four hours and then some. The Captains didn't remember meeting Yajimaru, so he probably told them to forget him. As a result, trying to remember hurt them."
"Too bad this is just a theory."
Evie opened her mouth to say something, but Keigo turned to us and smiled slyly. "You two are pretty close friends, aren't you?"
"Shut up, Keigo," me and Evie groaned.
Mizuiro glanced at us. "You two do look pretty close."
Evie face palmed and I said, "Not you too. Seriously, does it look like we're more than friends?"
"Possibly," they both said. Then they turned away from us to ignore any possible comments I might have for them.
"Idiots," Evie mumbled to herself. I almost laughed out loud, but that would get these two on our backs again.
When we got to the school, we found the rest of the gang waiting for us by the doors. "Hey guys!" Evie called to let them know she was here and completely fine. The relief in their faces was clear, except for Tatsuki's, one of three people that didn't know what happened.
"Let's go," I said and we walked into the school and our class.
Mrs. Mesu walked in after us and I saw how tense Evie was around her.
When we walked to our spot by the window, I was going to ask Evie what was wrong, but the bell rang. "Alright, class sit down," Mrs. Mesu told us.
~~~

We were walking home. We all decided (minus Evie, who didn't have a job) to not go to work.

"Why were you glaring at Mrs. Mesu, Evie?" Chad voiced the question we were thinking.

"She has a white and orange spirit ribbon," she said simply, as if we should know what that meant.

"And that means...?" I trailed off.

"Oh. I guess I never told you what that meant. It means she's a half-being, like Yajimaru."

"But her spiritual pressure felt normal," Orhime said. "When we first met Yajimaru, his felt off."

"Remember, half-beings can control their spirit pressure. She must have purposely had hers to feel normal."

Before the rest of us had a chance to say something else, we felt a familiar spirit energy from behind us. We turned around and saw Yajimaru charging right at us, his sword raised in the air.
