19: Sticking to the Plan! ...Harder than it Looks...

Evie's Point of View

"Welcome," Yajimaru said, facing us. "Hanbu Ariamasu. Ichigo Kurosaki. Evie Ressello."

I growled and moved into a fighting position, getting ready to grab Zangetsu.

"Evie," Ichigo warned. "Remember the plan."

I straightened. "Right..."

Hanbu looked between the two of us, a confused expression on his face. "What plan?"

"Enough!" Yajimaru snapped already.

"Woah," I said, putting my hands up. "Calm down. Did becoming a perfect being give you some anger issues?"

Hanbu and Ichigo snorted at my childish behaviour.

Yajimaru scowled and stood up. "Let's get this over with."

Ichigo stepped forward, summoning Michelle. He was already in the white kimono, but Michelle was only now being shown in his hand, a red sword coming with her.

Yajimaru raised an eyebrow at Ichigo, but made no comment.

"Seriously? What plan?" Hanbu asked, looking between the three of us.

"When you get to the Soul Society," Kisuke started. It was the second day of the two having their powers switched and sparring with each other, and Ichigo and Evie were anxious to defeat the perfect beings and bring everything back to the way it was before. "Hanbu is going to help you find Yajimaru."

Evie nodded, not surprised.

"When you find Yajimaru, Ichigo is going to fight him."

"What?!" Evie exclaimed in outrage. "Why can't I? He's been my enemy longer than yours or anybody else here!"

"Evie," Kisuke tried to calm her down. "Ichigo has adapted to his new powers a lot better than you have. He has a greater chance of defeating Yajimaru than you do."

Evie grumbled, crossing her arms.

"What makes you think I adapted better than Evie?" Ichigo asked.

"You've had practice with swords coming directly at your arms."

Kisuke sighed at both Evie and Ichigo's confused faces. "Mugetsu? Fullbring?"

Realization dawned on Ichigo's face. "Right."

Evie ignored this, not liking that she can't fight Yajimaru.

"Don't forget. Yajimaru has to come back alive."

Yajimaru pulled out a katana and blocked Ichigo. The blade was silver and the decorated handle was white. He yawned, bored. "Is that all you've got, Kurosaki?" He asked.

Ichigo furrowed his eyebrows and tried to force his way through the sword.

I crossed my arms as Ichigo suddenly jumped back, seeing that Yajimaru was about to fight back. "He's gotten stronger," I commented.

Hanbu nodded. "All of us have. It's one of the positive effects of becoming a perfect being."

Ichigo grabbed onto reishi and pulled himself behind Yajimaru, summoning zaiphion at the same time. Yajimaru turned around-almost too slow-and used the hilt of his sword to push Ichigo's hand away.

"Positive effects? You mean there are some negative effects too?"

Hanbu nodded. "Yeah. We lost speed for example. Speed and agility."

Hmmm, I thought. We could use this to our advantage...

I looked back at the fight an gasped in surprise. Yajimaru had stabbed Ichigo through the back.

"Ichigo!" I yelled, running towards him as he fell.

He grunted. "I'm fine."

"Psh, no your not." I turned to Hanbu. "You take him to Orihime. I'll deal with Yajimaru."

Ichigo frowned while Hanbu had an uneasy look. "Are you sure?"

I nodded.

Hanbu approached Ichigo and helped him up, looping one of Ichigo's arms around his shoulder.

"Evie," Ichigo said, coughing up blood. "Don't lose, ok?"

I clenched my teeth, but nodded.

I listened to their feet as they walked away.

"They might want to hurry," Yajimaru grinned maliciously, holding up his sword, pointing it at me. "This sword. I might had laced it with poison."

I heard Hanbu gasp, overhearing Yajimaru.

Without warning, he flicked his sword towards the departing two. I flash stepped-pulling out Zangetsu-and stopped the blade from continuing.

Yajimaru laughed. "I see you've gotten used to your new abilities."

He lunged at me, but he was going so slow, it almost felt like slow motion. I moved a couple steps to the right, dodging him with no effort.

Yajimaru landed on his feet, holding his sword. "You may have gotten used to your new abilities, but your as gullible as always. This is going to be as easy as our first fight."

I looked at him surprised, remembering that fight. It
happened when I was only five, and I remembered it like it was yesterday.

A young Evie jumped up onto one of the buildings in Tokyo, trying to escape her pursuer.

We can take him! Michelle urged, eager to shed some blood. He can't be that hard.

Evie, get back on the ground, Rachel commanded. When they were safely back on the ground, Rachel spoke up. We have no hope of fighting him successfully. Evie hasn't gone through any proper training.

Evie tugged on her mask of her hollow hunter suit, unused to the feeling of it. Only recently had Rachel allowed her real training to begin.

Evie turned into an alley and gasped. Yajimaru was standing there. His business suit made him look ready for the work day, but that wasn't the case. He had short, neatly trimmed blond hair, and hazel eyes. Normally, hazel eyes would be considered warm, but warm is not a way to describe Yajimaru. They were cold, and held evil inside.

Evie turned around and ran the other way, her heart pounding against her chest. 'I'm not ready. I can't be ready.'

Evie ran into a darker alley, exhaustion starting to catch up with her. She slumped against the wall, breathing heavily. She could feel her spiritual pressure slowly leaving her, and she hadn't even been in a proper fight! Her suit was already unraveling, going back into gloves.

"Found you," Yajimaru hissed, picking up Evie by the neck, chocking her. She struggled to breathe, fear in her eyes. She was desperate, so she allowed herself to collect reishi and formed a red sword. Yajimaru frowned at this and grabbed her right wrist with his free hand before she could attack.

When the sword and the suit disappeared, Yajimaru dropped the young hollow hunter. She gagged, trying to swallow as much air as possible.

Evie looked up, Yajimaru's retreating steps the only sound she heard. "That was too easy," he spoke to the young girl with distaste. "Train hard. This isn't going to be the last time you see me."

"I won't let you get away!" I screeched, anger controlling my actions. I lunged at the perfect being, my blood boiling. He was going to pay. Yajimaru was unable to keep up with my fast movements.

I was aiming for his head and I was going to get it.

Evie, Zangetsu's voice warned.

My arm froze, Zangetsu resting on Yajimaru's shoulder. Crap. I almost killed him.

Yajimaru smirked, and kicked me in the stomach. I flew back all the way to the wall. My head crashed into it, stars dancing in my eyesight. Through the stars, I could see Yajimaru was approaching me.

Crap, I thought, struggling to keep focus.

I turned away from him, and studied the wall, hoping that will help. I noticed cracks all over the wall. They were everywhere, leaving only small places without any. What happened?

Use it, Zangetsu spoke.

I nodded, not bothering to argue.

I looked back at Yajimaru. He was close, too close.

I rose Zangetsu into the air, spirit energy forming around the blade. Yajimaru's eyes widened in shock once he realized what I was planning.

"Getsuga Tenshou!" I shouted, bring Zangetsu down. Yajimaru was hit head on, and he flew back to the opposite side of the room. I cheered victoriously for a moment, then flinched. The recoil from the Getsuga really did a number on me. That's the problem me and Ichigo have with using each other's attack. It recoils.

I glanced down at my hand. It burned up until the start of my arm. It looked raw and it hurt to move, but I don't care. I clenched the zanpakuto, ready to move.

The stars in my eyesight disappeared and I stood up, bracing against the wall when the dizziness took hold.

I stepped forward, wincing as my left foot hit the ground. It wasn't broken, but it was definitely sprained.

I was a foot away from the wall I crashed into when I decided to raise my spirit energy.

Even in his dazed state, Yajimaru was trembling, knowing exactly what was going on.

"Bankai!"

Yes! I got an new chapter done!! And, I managed to add what Yajimaru looked like before he became a perfect being, and a little more about Evie's past. I realized Evie didn't have a lot of character development so hopefully this cleared up some about her.

As always, you can vote and tell me what you think in the comments!

Stay awesome!!
