15: Don't Kill Yajimaru!
Toshiro's Point of View
I raced through the Precipice World, going as fast as I could without flash stepping.
When I finally stepped out, I immediately surveyed the damage. Buildings were reduced to almost nothing. The half-beings haven't been here long, but they didn't waste any time.
I have no idea if there have been any casualties, but it looks like there are no injuries. From here, at least.
"Captain!" I turned to the right and saw Lieutenant Matsumoto running in my direction.
"Rangiku, report!" I barked my order.
"We've suffered seven casualties so far, captain. Most, at least five, are members from Squad 4. The last two are members of our squad and Squad 3. All soul reapers who have been killed are unseated officers. The half-beings haven't been making any attempts to fight any seated officers, lieutenants, or captains. Currently, the Head Captain has requested that Squad 11 protects Squad 4 since they appear to be the target."
I nodded. "Have any of the half-beings been caught yet?"
Rangiku shook her head. "No, sir. The unseated officers are not strong enough to win. We've suffered many injuries."
"Rangiku, send a hail butterfly to all the captains and lieutenants. Tell them they can't kill the being Yajimaru, he needs to be kept alive."
"Why?"
"I'll explain later. Just do it."
As Rangiku started sending the message, I felt a new spiritual pressure. I turned around, drawing my sword and managed to block my attacker. It was a half-being, one of the ones I had fought the first time the hollow hunter, Evie, was kidnapped.
"I'm no half-being anymore," he smiled cheekily at me. He had pale hair, that was almost white. His eyes were the same shade. He was wearing pants similar to a prisoner's jumpsuit (I saw one once while I was in the World of the Living but there's no time to explain now), and a purple t-shirt. He also had a crazed look to himself, like he was stocked up on sake.
"Your not Yajimaru, are you?"
He shook his head as he bounced away from me. He smiled crookedly, staring at me unblinkingly. "Oh, no. Yajimaru has yet to make an appearance. He seems to be waiting for someone to appear!" he said in a sing-song voice.
I charged at the unnamed being, but he deflected me.
"C'mon, Captain," he smiled crookedly. "Show me your bankai. I've never fought a bankai before. You never bothered to even use shikai when we last fought."
"Looks like I got the annoying one," I muttered to myself, thinking of the fullbringer, Yukio. "Again."
The being kicked out at my legs but I flipped over him and slashed at his back.
"Reign over the frosted heavens, Hyourinmaru!" I shouted, releasing my shikai. My ice dragon headed straight for the perfect being, but he jumped high enough to get out of the way. He landed next the dragon.
"That's not good enough, captain."
"Captain!" Rangiku shouted. "The Head Captain wants to know why we can't kill Yajimaru."
"Go to him," I ordered, as mine and the being's swords clashed. "Tell him what's going on. Once the battle is over, I'll explain why."
Her spiritual pressure disappeared, meaning she flash stepped to the Squad 1 barracks. Rangiku might be useless with the paperwork she refuses to fill out, but I can always rely on her when I really need it.
"Are you drunk?" I asked my opponent, confused by his behaviour.
"What do you mean?" he asked, genuinely confused.
I sighed, tired of his stupidity. Apparently, becoming a perfect being didn't decrease the level of stupidity in a person.
"What's your name?" I asked instead.
He ignored me, and literally flew at me, and I barely blocked. Unfortunately, that meant that I was knocked backwards.
The perfect being loomed over me. Before he could react, I stabbed my zanpakuto into his stomach. He gasped in pain and staggered a few steps back.
I shot some ice towards him and trapped his feet, forcing him to stay in the spot.
"What are you doing in the Soul Society?" I snarled, my patience wearing thin.
The now perfect being thrashed with his sword, trying to get rid of the ice encasing him.
I stepped closer to him and had my zanpakuto pointing threatening at him. "Why are you here?" I asked again.
Instead of getting an answer, I received a stab in the back. I looked down in surprise at the sword piercing me, barely missing my spine. I watched as it slowly exited my body.
When it was completely out, I staggered away from my attacker. I nearly collapsed to the ground, but managed to hold myself upright.
I looked at my second opponent, and saw that it was another male perfect being. His hair and eyes were the same shade as the first one's. His outfit was also the same.
"That's your answer," he said as the first one broke free out of my ice.
"What is?" I asked, holding my stomach, trying to stop the bleeding.
"We don't want soul reapers around," the first one answered, calmer than when we first started fighting.
"Are you Yajimaru?" I demanded. If Yajimaru was the first one taken down, the Ryoka attack would end as soon as it had started.
He shook his head. "Not quite, Captain Hitsugaya."
It didn't surprise me too much that he knew my name.
They charged at me together. Now I knew I had no choice.
Are you sure, master? Hyourinmaru asked. The first one wanted you to use bankai.
I have no choice, I told him. I won't be able to defeat them together in just shikai. Especially if they keep trying to use surprise like they did earlier. Besides, he probably only wanted to fight against a bankai to test his strength.
"Bankai!" I shouted. "Daiguren Hyourinmaru!"
"There we go!" The first one smiled crookedly again, seeming to be back to the way he was before.
I clashed swords with them both, barely able to stay conscious.
Rukia's Point of View
"That's Captain Hitsugaya!" I exclaimed to myself, feeling his rise of spirit energy. He must be using his bankai.
I looked around, studying the destroyed buildings. Yesterday, the half-beings showed up as perfect beings, and they spent no time goofing off. Half the Sereitai is already destroyed.
"I wish Captain Ukitake was here," I groaned. I'm not sure if I should help Captain Hitsugaya, or if I should try to confront a different perfect being.
I flash stepped and saw Captain Hitsugaya fighting two beings in his bankai. I noticed right away that their hair was almost white, and that none of them was Yajimaru. Then I noticed the Squad 10 Captain's gaping wound.
I pulled out my zanpakuto and raced to his side.
I only moved a few feet when I saw the captain flying backwards. Just as he crashed, I silently used some kidō. "Bakudō number 63: Sajō Sabaku." A yellow chain came out of my left hand and trapped a perfect being. I pulled him in my direction, pointing my zanpakuto in his direction, with intentions of stabbing him.
Just as he was about to crash into my zanpakuto, he twisted out of the way in time and crashed into me instead. We landed on the ground with a loud thump.
In a second, Captain Hitsugaya was looking down at us, and wrenched my opponent off of me.
"What are you doing here Kuchiki?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, Captain Hitsugaya. Since you used your bankai, I assumed that you might need help. Judging by your wound, you do."
He grunted and nodded his head in reply, but didn't speak.
The perfect being I trapped with kidō stood up, no longer in the yellow glowing chains.
"That was very dirty fighting, Lieutenant Kuchiki," he scolded me.
I swung my zanpakuto at him, and he moved backwards with every swing. "What are you doing here?" I asked the perfect beings angrily.
"Calm down, Lieutenant Kuchiki," Captain Hitsugaya spoke up, and I stopped attacking. "I'll explain later. Once we deal with the Ryoka, and get to the Head Captain. And I have an idea we can use to wrap this up."
He murmured his plan to me so the perfect beings wouldn't overhear.
"Yes, Captain," I nodded and flash stepped a safe distance away.
I watched as both the perfect beings attacked Captain Hitsugaya, and I felt guilty for not helping, but I had no choice. Captain Hitsugaya wanted to know how much kidō the perfect beings could hold up to.
"Hado number 4: Byakurai!" I shouted and white lightning shot out of my fingers, and shot the being I caught before. He shook it off like it was nothing.
"Damn," I mumbled. Low level kidō isn't going to help. Then I thought of a higher level spell: "Hado number 31: Shakkaho!" A ball of red energy shot out of my hands and attacked both of the Captain's opponents.
This effected them a lot more than byakurai had. Then an idea formed.
"The one who reigns, mask of flesh and blood, universe, soar, the one crowned with man's name, hado number 31: Shakkaho!"
Both of the perfect beings fell to the ground. When they stood up, they looked around angrily, trying to figure out where the kidō user was.
Before any of the two could move, Captain Hitsugaya moved in and cut off the head of one of the perfect beings. Even from my position, I could see his shocked expression.
I waited for the body to dissolve, to do anything, like a soul reaper, or even a bount.
All three of us stared at the dead body for long moments, waiting for something to happen.
After what seemed like eternity, something did. The body started looking like it was caving in on itself, without any bodily fluids leaking out. The body caved in until all that was left was the clothing. After a while, even those disappeared.
That was... Disgusting.
Even though I felt bad, when I saw the other perfect being attack Captain Hitsugaya, I used one more kidō spell. "Hado number 91: Senju Koten Taiho!"
Several spears of light all fired themselves at the last perfect being, resulting in an explosion. When all of the smoke cleared away, there was nothing left of the being. At least I didn't have to watch that again.
I flash stepped to the battle ground. "Are you okay, Captain Hitsugaya?"
He nodded. "Yes. Now, we have to go to the Squad 1 barracks. I need to talk to the Head Captain."
"I think you should go to Squad 4 instead," I said, pointing out his wound.
He shook his head. "No. What I have to tell the Head Captain in much more important."
I hesitated, but then agreed. Before we left, I noticed something in the two spots were the perfect beings died.
"Just a second, Captain," I murmured and walked to the death sites.
Glinting in the sunlight, a small shard of something stood out.
I picked it up. It was blue. Not only that, but it looked familiar.
"Rachel," Captain Hitsugaya confirmed.
I walked to where the other perfect being died, and found another shard, the same shape, size and colour.
"That would explain how all of the half-beings became perfect beings," Captain Hitsugaya mused. "C'mon, Lieutenant Kuchiki. We have to get to the Head Captain."
I wrapped my arm around the Captain, and helped him flash step to the Squad 1 barracks.
Seeing Captain Hitsugaya, Lieutenant Sasakibe led us to the Head Captain's office.
When I entered, I noticed right away that Captain Ukitake and my brother weren't a part of the meeting.
"Captain Hitsugaya," the Head Captain's voice boomed in his office. "Lieutenant Kuchiki. What news have brought us?"
"We can't kill the perfect being Yajimaru," Captain Hitsugaya went straight to the point.
"Why's that?" Captain Zaraki asked, scowling.
"He managed to switch his powers with Ichigo Kurosaki and Evie Ressello. In order for them to get there powers back, Yajimaru has to be taken back to Kisuke Urahara," Captain Hitsugaya explained, stepping forward as I knelt next to Lieutenant Matsumoto. "Alive."
"Why Urahara?" Captain Soifon and Kurostuchi exclaimed at the same time. The distaste in their voices were evident.
"Because he's the only one that has any idea how to undo the Alchemy." Captain Hitsugaya stumbled and clutched his wound.
"Your hurt," Captain Unohana said. "You should've gone to the Squad 4 barracks."
"I know," the Captain said, not bothering to argue. "I just needed to deliver the news first."
Captain Unohana walked to Captain Hitsugaya and started leading him out the room. As she passed by me, she stopped.
"Lieutenant Kuchiki."
"Yes, Captain?"
"Captain Kuchiki and Ukitake will be released from my barracks by tomorrow at the latest."
"Thank you, Captain," I said. Even I could hear the relief in my voice.
She walked out of the room.
"Lieutenants Kuchiki and Matsumoto." We turned to the Head Captain when he spoke to us. "You are dismissed."
"Yes, Head Captain," we nodded and left the room.
When we were a little way aways, Rangiku spoke. "Why do you think the perfect beings are here?" she asked.
I groaned inwardly. "Captain Hitsugaya was supposed to explain that, but Captain Unohana didn't give him the chance."
"Damn," Rangiku muttered.

A/N I know... I'm disappointed too. Rukia didn't use her zanpakuto! But, I can explain. I can't remember the name of her zanpakuto, and it's hard for her to release her shikai, if she can't remember her name. So, I'm hoping someone can leave in the comments Rukia's zanpakuto's name, and I promise that I'll use it in a later chapter.
I know what your thinking. Why don't I just look it up on the Internet? Well, I don't have wi-fi at home, and every time I do go on the internet, I always forget things I want to do, like find out the name of everyone's zanpakuto.
Also, sorry for not naming the perfect beings. I was being a lazy author. Plus, it's hard coming up with one.
Thanks for reading this far into my story! Feel free to
