Prologue.

Laughter. Smiling. Fun. These are the things Alexis had every day with her best friend, Drake. They made a habit of going to Freddy's Pizzeria almost daily, dragging their families along. Alexis was an only child, while Drake had a sister, Anna. The three were so close that it was like they were all related. But that day, August thirty-first, everything changed.

"Come on Alex! You're so slow!" Anna teased her friend.

"I'll show you slow!" Alexis yelled back. She tackled the slightly older girl, and they both erupted in laughter.

"Will you two stop messing around? The show's about to start!" Jake shouted at the two girls. They perked up and sprinted to the stage, eager to see their favorite animatronics perform.  As the curtain pulled aside, the familiar metal faces of the animatronics, their detailed faces almost shining in the stage lights. They begun the performance, robotic movements entrancing the group of children that had gathered by the stage. As it went on, Alexis's eyes were drawn to a shadowy figure in the background. It was a human form, lurking at the edge of the stage, observing the children. She focused her attention on it watching it stand there. Eventually it walked off, and the show ended. All the other kids walked off, but she just sat there, transfixed on the area where the figure had been. There was something very off about it, something in her gut that told her it wasn't a good thing. Whatever it was. "Alexis! Come on!" Drake pulled her away from the stage, but not before she could see a sinister smile from behind the curtain.

"Come on kids, we have to go!" Drake and Anna's parents called. Drake had left to go get more pizza or something, so Anna ran ahead while Alexis hurried behind her. Suddenly a man approached her.

"Hello mister! Can I help you?" She asked.

"Actually, you can." His voice sent chills down her spine. It was sinister and joyful, like he was plotting something horrible and loved it. "I forgot to lock the door to the boiler room. Would you mind doing that for me?" He pointed toward a hallway near the back, and she nodded and rushed to it. As she neared the door, something that sounded like screaming flooded her ears. It's probably just the furnace... She thought as she turned the lock. Her parents were waiting for her, and she left without a second thought. Without knowing she'd just sealed the fate of her best friend.

*Time skip brought to you by my never ending internal screaming*

Alexis grabbed the paper off her porch and started scanning the headlines. One in particular drew her attention. 'Fifteen year old boy found dead in boiler room of pizza establishment' Alexis kept reading, terror pricking at her. 'Fifteen year old Drake Harris was found dead today in the boiler room of Freddy's Pizzeria today. The door, his only way of escape, was locked from the outside, trapping him in the room. The furnace had been malfunctioning, causing the heat to steadily increase until it killed him.' Alexis dropped the paper and fell to her knees. She started crying, and screamed at the top of her lungs. I killed my best friend. My best friend is dead because of me. She couldn't get the breath into her lungs. Her head was spinning, her mind clouded. Nothing would ever be the same. Nothing.

*Time skip again to three years after the accident*

Alexis pulled down her long sleeves so there was no possibility of anyone seeing the cuts that littered her arms. It had been three years. Three years since the 'accident'. Three years since she'd become bipolar and depressed. Three years since she'd last seen her best friend's face. Three years since she'd become a murderer. She was seventeen now. She hated herself more than anything else in the world, and just really wanted to stop the suffering. Which was exactly why she was applying for a job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Rumor has it all nightgaurds who step foot in there are murdered one way or another. It was an opportunity she didn't want to pass up. Dialing the number from the newspaper into her home phone, she waited until the phone was answered. "Hello?" The voice belonged to a man, one that seemed oddly familiar.

"Hi, yes, my name's Alexis Grayson and I'd like to apply for the nightgaurd position at Freddy's Pizzeria. Is that here?" She replied, putting on her best I'm-mentally-stable voice.

"Yep. You're hired." A small click was heard, signaling the end of the call. Well that's... strange. Alexis thought as she placed the phone back. Well at least I got the job. She walked up to her room, excited for her first day of work, and quite possibly last day of life. That however, is not what happened at all.
