Hollow Halloween Part Twelve: To The Festival
A carriage approaches us roughly thirty minutes later, drawn by two skeletal horses, soulless husks risen by an ametaur necromancer. Not bad though, not bad at all. The carriage itself is well decorated, the edges lined with black, shining onyx, and the body made of a cursed, ashy wood. Most likely from a species of tree originally found in Hell before all this, recreated here in the void, mayhaps grown naturally. No one can be certian.
We get in the carriage and begin towards R.C.'s castle where we will be declared the guests of honor but...
I'm actually kinda afraid of R.C. He could kill me if I'm not careful or just frame me for some crime like before. I have to be very cautious and keep my guard up.
Reaper seems uneasy somehow, he fidgets nervously and looks at me from time to time, as if he's afraid of something.
"Are you OK?" I ask.
I decide not to tell her. She's friends with R.C. She deserves to have a good friend like him. I'm not really that mad now, I've had time to cool off, but if he pulls any shit like this again...
"Is it's R.C.," I reassure him with a smile, "he's not mad at you anymore."
"Oh," Reaper smiles, "great."
He seems to calm down a little bit, and I sit closer to him, smiling.
"You know I'm here for you," I smile, "and always will be."
I blush under my cloak.
I wanna hug her, but that'll just make letting go later even harder.
I wanna see his face. His sweet, caring face. I miss seeing it each morning, I miss the days when he was OK, or at least better than this.
"You should wear your hood down," I smile.
"Why?" He asks.
What's she planning?
"Come on," she smiles, "do it for me."
"Can I not?" I ask, hiding how badly I want to, just to see her smile.
I get an idea. I smile and speak in a playful tone, "you can't hide in there."
"What do you-" he's interrupted when I slip into his cloak, between his shirt and his cloak, he seems flustered, I smile.
"Hi," I greet, leaning into his chest, hugging him.
Ugh. Why is she so cute? I can't not do it.
I wrap my arms and kiss her forehead.
"Hi," I smile nervously.
"See?" She asks, wrapping herself in my cloak, like one would share a jacket almost, "not so bad huh?"
"It's kinda nice," I admit.
"Did you ever miss me?" I ask.
"I miss our happy ending," he sighs, "yes, including you."
"You really want that back huh?" I ask.
"Don't you?" He inquires.
"Yeah," I smile, "but the first step of getting my happy ending back is getting you back."
"I can't do that," I sigh, "I need to get it back. For all of us."
"What are you gonna do today?" I smile.
I think. I am a guest of honor, and she seems so happy...
"Today," I tighten my grip slightly, "I'm going to remind myself what I'm fighting for."
The carriage stops. She slips out of my cloak and we exit the carriage. A crowd stands on each did of a long orange carpet, leading to the front of R.C.'s palace. The crowd full of angels, demons, insectoids, etc. all mixed together. We look at R.C., who smiles back. I consider backing away and fleeing, but M.S. grabs my hand and smiles, and I remember that I need to do this for her. I mean, it couldn't hurt to remind myself of my cause, right? Let's call it... part of my training. We approach R.C. together, me, ready for a fight, ready to protect her if he ropes her into our feud...
