A Very Canon Christmas Part Eight: Welcome to the Palace
Reaper Classic smiles eeriely. I have to say something. "Is this about the fight?" I ask.
"Kinda," he replies, "see, I've been thinking Reaper, and I've decided to form a faction in the coming war, the Peace Seekers. We'll have one goal, peace at any cost. See, I'm a man with connections, and I heard about the incident at Hellfire. I don't know if I can let you off the hook after that. You're a threat to the peace we have now."
"Dude," I reply, "I'm telling you, you had a wife, but she was scrapped, removed from the story."
This bastard has the audacity to continue that lie? He really does only care about the other side. "You've got some nerve saying that," I growl.
"It's the truth!" He exclaims, "this isn't about me wanting you to join the Author Slayers. This isn't about Edgar. I'm telling you this as your freind. Please, you have to trust me. She's still alive. I remember her from the first timeline. She loved you R. C., and I can help bring her back."
I'm not lieing, he did have a wife in the first timeline, and they were happy together, but she was absent from this rewrite. Edgar wouldn't erase a character like that. There are rumors, rumors that The Nameless has seen the world of scraped characters and knows how to get there. Edgar aside, I won't leave them there to rot. I'm bringing them to this world so they can each have their happy endings, and I don't care if they're with or against me. Hell, they could even be on Ed's side, but there's still characters, and they still deserve a happy ending.
"We'll discuss this at my palace," he glares. R.C. goes silent. Whatever he's planning for me, it can't be good...
What's taking Reaper so long? Did he ditch me? I don't think he would, not after how he was acting. He actually seemed to be coming back from the other side. Returning his focus to our world, to the ones who care about him... Maybe he figured out I was gonna kill him, but how? Unwinged definitely didn't tell him. I examian the gun and think of Reaper. If I betray his trust now... Reader, can I be honest with you? Reaper hasn't smiled since we arrived in the abyss over a trillion years ago. It's all been bitter scowling and unamused expressions. He hasn't felt happy in so long...
I can't do it. I can't kill Reaper, but he has to die. Reaper and Reaper Classic recently had a fight, but they're still freinds. They've had their fair share of arguments, but I've never seen them stay mad at eachother. I'm sure if I talk to Reaper Classic, he'll understand. I'll have to be back before Reaper returns though. I briskly walk to Reaper Classic's palace...
My ear piece rings. "What's the word?" I ask.
"It's M.S.," Nameless replies, "she's heading towards your palace, but not because of me. She's headed there with unknown motivates."
"She may have caught on," I reply, "keep an eye on her."
"You got it," Nameless replies.
Is he talking about M.S.? He's gonna kill her too isn't he? He's probably gonna kill me, that's preety obvious, but if he brings M.S. into this...
I reach the palace. Cyle Classic answers my knock. "Oh," he smiles, "hey Metal. How can I help you?"
"Remember what you said," I reply, "about Reaper being on the brink of a death loop?"
"Yeah," he replies, "what happened? Oh gods it didn't happen did it?"
"Not yet," I reply, "but... He's getting dangerously close. Don't you have a facility to help those who reach this point recover?"
"Yeah," Cyle Classic replies, "what are you playing at Metal?"
I show him the gun. "Reaper's not going into physical therapy willingly, and if he dies of natural causes, he's gone. We have to resort to other means of getting him there. Reaper has to be killed."
"I understand," C.C. replies, "I'll handle it."
"Thanks," I smile, "but please, make it as painless as you can."
"Sure," C.C. replies, "I promise."
My ear piece rings again. "Hello?" I answer.
"It's C.C.," Cyle Classic replies, "Reaper has been experiencing serious health issues and is on the brink of a death loop. Metal just asked me to kill him and take him to the Death Loop Prevention Center, but I think I can reason with him. If you see him, I need to talk to him."
"Sure," I reply, "I'll handle it."
"It's all set," C.C. explains, "he'll be here soon. Although, I don't think it's gonna go well. After the incident at Hellfire and all..."
"What do you mean?" I inquire.
C.C. glances about as if he's being watched. "My brother is a man with connections," he explains, "and at Hellfire after you left, Reaper killed The Four. Now, they revived, but I'm not sure if they're on good terms with Reaper right now."
"But he's been getting better," I explain, "I've been bringing him back. The Reaper you were freinds with. The Reaper I loved. He can still be as he once was, the Reaper we knew is in there, we just gotta make him see he doesn't need freinds on the other side."
"I hope you're," C.C. replies, "I really do..."
We arrive at my palace. I may have been freinds with Reaper, but I'm sick of his lies and his anti-writer propaganda that many have begun to believe. Now I have an excuse from M.S. to cover my tracks. My original plan was to get a reason from M.S. and use that as an excuse to attack, but that step of my plan handled itself. It's time. My plan is ready, the stage is set. I'm going to kill Reaper next chapter...
