Curiosity Strikes
Asriel:
I was just chillin on my bed, or rather, trying to chill on my bed when I heard her foot steps near the front door.
Instantly I froze, listening closely until I heard her knock on the door, it was soft, three knocks. I knew it anywhere.
Tensing, I dropped my book on my bed and instantly teleported out of the house. G would answer the door, he always did, even when he was wasted like he was. He'd have spent the rest of yesterday night at Grillby's if I hadn't come and picked him up around midnight.
It was late evening now and I looked around me wondering where I'd teleported in a panic. Which turned out to be just outside Harrison's. D*** it, I'd been thinking about her again.
Why was she always in the back of my head? Because of G, he was always talking about her now and it was driving me crazy, crazy with curiosity. G was never interested in anybody, so what made her different? The fact that he'd never gotten her name?
I frowned at the doors, almost glaring at them with loathing. I hated this place, it was a bar, Sure, but the complete opposite of Grilb's place. He at least gave the place a warm sense about it. This place was cold, almost dead. People with problems came here, not to sort out their problems, but to push them aside, it was a place to push your responsibilities off at the door.
I hated how much this was almost my kind of place. But I'd never actually gone inside, too many rumors about the place.
Why? Why would a girl, who seemed so clever, work in such a stupid place like this?
I let out a deep sigh through my nose and walked in, my curiosity was eating me alive, but maybe forgetting about my problems wasn't so bad. It definitely sounded better than talking them out, for a flame that doesn't speak too often, he sure gets you yapping about your troubles, how the h*** he does that, I'll never know.
"Ah, Welcome Of Harrison's Tavern." A short stout man greeted me and I had to try not to wince.
His teeth were either crooked or golden and his eyes squinted at you like a mole peeking out of a burrow, he even had whiskers. "How may I help you today sir?" He asked as I looked around. The place was nothing like Grillby's bar, though I expected that.
"I just want a drink." I said simply trying to avoid eye contact. He was creepy for a human, and that's saying something coming from me. I'd met a fair number of creepy and spooky b******s ever since leaving the underground, and even before hand.
"Yes sir, right away, just take a seat." He gestured to a table that was decorated in dark wood, probably to hide the blood stains, but I could smell them. A lot of fights broke out here but that shouldn't be surprising. From what I'd heard, as long as you didn't touch Harry's girls without a bargain, you could brawl as much as you liked. I nearly spit as I looked over at the man, watching him walk off.
He didn't serve customers, I knew, he was probably going to talk to the bartender.
What I didn't expect however, was the small frame walking up to me and putting a hand out to touch the table, probably so she wouldn't bump into it.
"What'll it be?" She asked 'looking' directly at me. I blinked at her.
"Well, fancy meeting you here. Scotch will be fine." I said casually as if I didn't already know she worked here. Either way she tensed, at least she remembered me, somewhat.
"R-Right." She muttered before walking off again towards the bar. I tilted my head at her as she walked away.
Her top was tight and her shorts were shorter than I'd expected to see on her, especially since she seemed like the shy type when we'd first met. Then again, her outfit was probably more of a uniform, I nearly cringed.
Tight clothes weren't really something I preferred unless the girl actually had something to fill them, this girl however, wasn't the right body type. At least not in my opinion, it didn't flatter her and she looked like she was trying too hard.
Only a few minutes passed before she came back and set my drink down in the center of the table.
"Did G tell you to come here?" She asked with a frown. I shook my head with a sigh.
"No, and I don't really want to talk about why I'm here. If I wanted to talk, I'd have gone to Grillby's." I said simply and grabbed my glass.
She hummed with a frown before walking off. At least she respected my privacy, which I had found out early on, was a rare trait in humans.
Either way, I found myself relaxing as the evening settled in and I drank slowly, partially so I wouldn't get too drunk, and partially so I could watch the blind chick from afar. I made sure not to stare too long and looked around the bar as well. A few arguments started up just as it reached 5 o'clock. But some girl with red locks handled the situation very nicely by knocking the two block heads together. That girl pulled off the uniform like it was made for her and I found myself smiling slightly when she walked past. She didn't give me a second glance, but I didn't mind and just continued to survey the area.
Around my fourth glass of scotch, someone stumbled into the bar. They were already drunk, but seemed to have come here with a purpose, that purpose was made clear as they wobbled on over to the bar.
"Heya Honey~" They hiccuped at the blind girl. She rolled her eyes with a deep frown and I found myself almost mimicking her, only I didn't take my eyes off the man.
He started mumbling something at her, but she just continued to ignore him. I stood up with my glass, taking a sip and walked over slowly so I could return my glass to the bar when it was empty.
Just as I was a few feet from the counter I saw him reach out and snag one of the girl's arms yanking her close to him. I didn't hesitate before the smashing of glass was heard and the fellow dropped to the floor.
The blind girl looked stunned, obviously she was since she hadn't seen what had happened.
"I'll pay for the glass." I told her before picking the guy up.
"You alright?" I asked and she frowned as if agitated.
"I'm fine, I could have handled it." She murmured as if she'd told G the same thing.
I only hummed before setting down several bucks on the counter, sliding them towards her.
"Next time just hose the guy down, he obviously needs the water." I told her before carrying him outside. I dumped him in an alley, several blocks from the tavern. He'd wake up in the morning with a hangover and a dark bruise on his head, but as I plopped him down I studied him for a minute.
His fur was matted and dark in color, a scavenger mutt. Not an insult to them, that's just what they were called. Kinda like what Human's call Caucasian, or African/Black.
Either way, he wasn't a very nice monster, no scavengers really were, that's why they were called that. There were some decent once's but they were hard to come by.
I turned away and just walked off down the street, teleporting while I was even a bit intoxicated was dangerous, especially for me seeing as I wasn't born with the ability. So I just navigated my way home. Took me until half passed 3 but I got home.
G was asleep, at least I assume he was, I didn't care. Hopefully he wouldn't ask about the events of today. Didn't really matter though, I wouldn't tell him anyways. I just went to my room.
My book was on my desk with the book mark placed gently inside it, Toriel had been in my room. I frowned at that, but just plopped down on my bed, I was too tired to get awfully upset, I'd scold G for letting her in my room tomorrow.
