Still More Questions

Lance POV

Those three vargas we waited took forever, and were spent mostly in silence. We only talked if we absolutely had to, and even then our sentences were short. Most of us just stared off at our own places around the room, not really seeing anything but our thoughts.

"She should be awake by now." Coran's voice was soft, and we all jumped up and practically ran to the room Pidge was in.

She was up, just like Coran had said she would be, and she was against the glass, probably feeling for a way out. The minute she saw us, she stepped back. "Who are you? Why am I in here? I didn't do anything, let me out!"

"Calm down, Pidge."

"Who is Pidge?"

Our eyes widened, and all we were all speechless except for Coran, but even his voice was soft.

"You... Don't remember us? Or yourself?"

"No." She tilted her head and her scared eyes softened. "Should I?"

We froze, and Allura covered her mouth as a strangled gasp escaped. Hunk turned away from Pidge, and Keith lowered his head.

"Yes." Shiro's voice was small and then he turned away and walked out. Allura, Keith, and Coran followed him out. Hunk placed a big hand on my shoulder, giving me a sympathetic look.

I tore my gaze from his and found a great interest in the floor. The floor that was now being splattered with a couple of my tears. He slowly walked out, leaving me alone with a very confused Pidge.

"I'm sorry."

My head whipped towards her as the words came from her mouth. She was also crying, but it looked like she didn't know why. Her eyes were searching mine, recognition absent from them.

"Don't be."

"Who was I?"

"You mean, who are you? Because was is past tense, and you aren't gone yet. Not completely, and not if we have anything to say about it."

She tried to say something else, but I wouldn't listen anymore. I headed out, the door whooshing behind me, and then leaned against it. I slid my back down the door and lowered my head onto my knees. My arms wrapped around my knees, and I sobbed. This team had become my family, and now it felt like I was losing someone I loved. Not just as family, though. Something more. Something that I hadn't felt since I got over Allura. A crush.

Pidge POV

Once he left, my thoughts went crazy.
I knew them? They were willing to go so far to.... Save me? How did I know them? Better question, where did I meet them? Even better question, how do I get out of this cage? I placed my hands on the wall in front of me and felt for rough edges, or anything that could indicate an opening.

My thoughts were spinning so much and I was so concentrated on finding a way out that I wouldn't have realised that I wasn't in the prison anymore, except that the world went darker. But not a 'pass out' kind of dark, more like a 'the lights got dimmed' dark.

"Where am I?" It took a minute for my eyes to adjust to the darker lighting, but when I did look around, I saw that I was surrounded by stars, and the night sky. The ones that stood out the most in the sky were five dots, arranged in a pentagon formation. Purple on top. Red on the right side, green on the left. Underneath the red one was a blue one, and a yellow one underneath the green one. Out of all of them, the green one shown the brightest.

"You're in my mindscape."

I turned around to a young woman, probably around my age. But then, I couldn't even remember my age, so she could have been 20 years older and I wouldn't have known. She was pretty tiny, about my size, and dressed in a green tunic, green leggings, green comfy looking boots, bright green eyes, and dark brown hair.

"Your what?"

"My mindscape. It's a place that I created myself. It gives me time to think about what I'm doing, and to get away from the boys for a while."

"Why am I here? Do you know who I am?"

She looked at me with sad eyes. "That's not very like you, Pidge. You don't usually trust people that quickly, and by asking me who you are, you are putting your complete trust in me that I won't lie to you."

"I just..... feel like I know you. And you didn't answer my question. Do you know who I am?" Angry tears surfaced, and started running down my cheeks.

Her eyes did the same as mine. "Yes, Pidge. I do know who you are."

"Who's Pidge? Is that me? Why don't I have a real name?"

"Always so many questions. Does that brain of yours ever stop thinking?" She chuckled. "But then, I guess I never stop thinking either. That's the reason I chose you. You can actually keep up with my science rants."

I took an angry step towards her. "You better start giving me some answers soon or I'll--"

Her tone was serious, and her tears had stopped when mine had. "You'll what? I control your bayard. You can't hurt me, especially because I'm not even really here."

I took a hesitant step, and put my hand through her form.

It rippled like water.

I stumbled back, my eyes filled with fear until I saw her expression. Her eyes looked sad, and it looked like she truly didn't want to threaten me or anything. She was just doing what she had to.

"Why did you bring me here?"

"To hopefully figure out what the quiznack is going on."

"First of all, what's a quiznack? Second of all, how did you bring me here? I mean, it's not normal for two human beings to go into one another's minds. It just doesn't work that way."

She gave a small smile, and then a sly look. "Who said I'm human?"

I tilted my head. "What do you mean?"

Her reply was soft and fading, and the air resonated with loud bangs, as if someone was trying to beat down a wall.

She started to fade, and I panicked, trying to grab for her arm, and just feeling water. "At least tell me who you are!"

"Call me Green." Her voice was so low that I had to strain to hear it. "The boys are trying to get through. Our time is up, and I have to send you back. You probably won't remember this conversation, but wait for me. I won't be I this form, but-"

The ground shook, she disappeared, and I was back in my glass prison on the ship.

But this time was different. This time... The glass in front of me was open.

Come, cub.

Weird. Do normal people hear voices in their heads?

Without me meaning to, my feet carried me towards the voice. It lead me up and down halls, down a couple levels in an elevator, and eventually putting my hand on a scanner.

A light above the scanner blinked green, and the door opened up to what looked to be a workshop. The tools and half finished projects littered on the ground weren't what caught my attention first. What did catch my attention was the giant, green robot taking up most of the room.

My gaze went along every curve, every sheet of metal so obviously skill fully crafted. It also seemed alive, and seemed to look right at me, even though it never moved.

I had just enough time to take in the robot when the alarm sounded, making me jump in surprise.

"Paladins, Pidge has escaped. I repeat, Pidge has escaped from her cell."
