36 - I Could Have Married The Prince.

Jungkook was angry. In fact, this must be the angriest he had ever felt in his life as this particular ugly emotion was not something he was very familiar with. Jungkook has always been the type of person who tries to see things from other person's perspective and try to see the reason and justifications in every action. He seldom loses his cool like this.

But this girl, Lee Dahyun, managed to push his buttons like no one ever had.

For the past week or so, Dahyun had been everywhere. The girl seemed to be popping up next to Taehyung, and by extension, Jungkook, at least once a day. The first time she came was to talk about getting her portrait done. She was very persistent but Taehyung was adamant in his refusal. She was visibly upset after that and quickly left. Seolhee tried to berate Taehyung for hurting her friend but a few words from Taehyung was enough to shut her mouth.

Jungkook honestly thought that was it but he was proven wrong when the girl met them when they were on their way back from Jungkook's work. This time, it was to invite Taehyung for her birthday party. She didn't miss to express how Taehyung didn't have to get her any gift and that his presence itself would be a treasured birthday gift for her. Apparently, anybody who's worth knowing would be there as her father is a wealthy man. Taehyung, of course, politely declined the invitation, saying he and Jungkook had plans that day. It didn't make any difference that she never told what day it was.

But what really pissed Jungkook off was when they came home after work today, Dahyun was at their house, merrily chatting with Hara. She bowed and greeted Taehyung, but disregarded Jungkook completely. Not that Jungkook wanted it, but the disrespect was so blatant, that Taehyung's father's eyebrows hid under his hair involuntarily.

Taehyung just nodded his head in acknowledgement, before leading Jungkook towards their room by holding his hand. Once inside, he turned to look at the prince, who had a pout on his face and an angry glint in his eyes.

Gods!” Jungkook exclaimed in a whisper. “She's everywhere!”

Taehyung had a small smile initially, a reaction purely for Jungkook's adorable pout, but it fell out instantly when Jungkook raised one eyebrow. “Ehmm.. yes, so it would seem, my love.”

“What is she doing here?”

“Well, she and Seolhee are best friends so- I mean, I have no clue!”

Jungkook turned away and looked out the window. Of course he knew why she's here, and he knew that Taehyung knew it as well. He was cursing her in his mind with what little curse words he knew, when a pair of arms sneaked around his waist and he was gently pulled against a warm chest.

Is my prince upset? You know I have eyes only for you.” Taehyung chuckled lightly. “Eyes, ears, mouth, hands... Each and every bit of me belongs only to you. Especially my heart.”

The wave of anger was gone as quickly as it came, and Jungkook was left with only a burning heat and an accelerated heartbeat. He was sure Taehyung could feel it, with the way his chest was pressed against Jungkook's back.

“All of you?”

“Yes. To my last breathe.”

“Oh, well,” Jungkook couldn't stop the corners of his lips curving upwards. “Guess it's okay then.”

“Thank you for your mercy, your highness. This lowly man is forever in your debt.” Taehyung gently placed his lips behind Jungkook's ear for the softest kiss.

They stayed like that for a about a minute, until an unpleasant thought came in to Jungkook's mind. “Would she stay for dinner?”

The answer came a few seconds late. “Uhh.. I smelled my mother's pork ribs stew and she makes it on special occasions only so I think-”

And the spell was broken, with Jungkook's elbow roughly jabbing Taehyung's ribs. With a small sigh, Taehyung hurried to follow after Jungkook, who was already out of the room with his bath towel.

“-So as I was saying, father didn't want me to be away from the house long term so I've always had tutors coming to me. Father said that some of them were the tutors of the crown prince even. They were excellent, of course,” Dahyun paused for a second to glance at Taehyung. “But I wish I had spent more time out of the house. I don't have that many friends either, except for my darling Seolhee.”

Seolhee all but cooed and wrapped a hand around Dahyun in a side hug. Hara's eyes were sparkling like diamonds at this clear display of friendship from the high class girl. Jungkook, on the other had, could barely stop himself from barfing. He was taught by the same tutors as his brother and there was simply no way that they would come this far in to a random village to teach a silly girl like Dahyun. They were good teachers, but rather pompou old asses as humans.

“You must be well educated then, Miss Dahyun.” Hara seemed to be drooling from the corner of her mouth, with how hard she had been eating out of the young girl's hand. “My my! You are fit to marry in to the palace-”

Suddenly, there was a coughing noise and Hara turned to look at Jungkook with a clear displeasure in her eyes. Jungkook had chocked on the food on his mouth at the mention of the palace, due the colourful image that popped in to his head, of his brother marrying this girl. Taehyung, who seem to have guessed where Jungkook's mind just wandered off to, gently rubbed the younger man's back, until he was okay.

Would you look at that?” Taehyung's whispers in to Jungkook's ear was full of teasing. “You two almost become in-laws.”

As if!” Jungkook whispered back. “I'd have hyung exile her even before she set a foot in the castle. Gods! The thought itself is giving me shivers.”

They had been lost in their own world and hadn't noticed the constant yapping noise at the table was stopped. Taehyung only noticed everyone's stares when he took his eyes away from Jungkook's face and looked up.

“Uhh.. apologies, it seem Do Hwan had some food down the wrong pipe.”

Hara huffed and mumbled something like ‘Road scum not knowing table manners’. Taehyung's father was at the other corner of the table so he didn't hear it but Jungkook, who was sitting closer to Hara, heard it clearly.

For the nth time, Jungkook wnadered how it would he if he could reveal the exact nature of his upbringing. Not that makes any difference to Jungkook's current situation but it sure would be fun to have the mouths of these three women closed.

“Ehhmm.. anyways, I wasn't trying to brag or anything but yes, I literally could have married anyone I wanted. But what to do, Auntie, my heart is stuck on someone already.”

Dahyun had her eyes focused of Taehyung as she said it and the coy smile on her face was not lost to anyone except Seonwoo.

And Hara looked as if new year had come early this year.

After the dinner, Taehyung's father asked Taehyung to drop Dahyun home. As an elder brother of a girl, he couldn't refuse this. Taehyung couldn't deny the fact that it not safe for a young girl to go alone this late at night. Hara and Seolhee was beaming from ear to ear as Taehyung put on his coat, but those smiles morphed in to frowns when they noticed Jungkook doing the same.

“Where do you think you're going?!” Hara asked in a scolding tone, when Jungkook followed Taehyung put of the house.

Taehyung was about to answer, when Jungkook beat him to it. “Well, I'm gonna accompany Taehyung, of course. It looks like a fine night for a stroll, with the moon shining so beautifully.”

“Yes, it is.” Hara was seething. “So why don't you stay back and let them have it!”

Jungkook laughed, his merriment ringing loud in the silence of the night. “Why would I let someone else take a night walk with my lover?”

With that, Jungkook grabbed Taehyung's already extended hand, and together, they stared walking, leaving Dahyun to follow behind. She tried to start a conversation with Taehyung, or rather interrupt the one he was having with Jungkook, but the elder man replied with a word or two, or sometimes completely ignored her. His sole attention was on the lovely man next to him, who undoubtedly put the night sky in to shame with his sparkling eyes. Jungkook was narrating a story of a patient they had today and for Taehyung, it was like listening to God's words.

It was, indeed, a lovely night for a stroll. Even more so on the way back, where they had the privacy they both were craving for a few hours now.
