Chapter 50
No one's pov
It has been more than 24 hours since Eliza was under observation with no much progress in her condition. Her whole family and Seokjin were still rooted on the hospital grounds. They were exhausted and worn out but their love for her held them strong enough to grasp onto the tiny glimmer of hope.
When the morning dew hit the ground, they received the news that all the culprits were caught. Two had managed to escape on the dreadful night, but fate brought them back to justice. Also the witness confronted Eliza's family, they were grateful for what he did for her. No words could explain how glad they were to him for saving their little angel. It was only because of him the cops managed to catch them all. Eliza might have to give her statement once her condition is back to normal.
"Seokjin, is she okay?" Hannah and Jimin were informed only this morning, and they rushed to be by their best friend's side. Her eyes were red and Jimin had a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"She has not yet gained consciousness. But she is going to be alright. Don't worry." Seokjin strongly said, which was more likely him assuring himself. His eyes were droopy, drained of all the liveliness he possessed. He felt weak, he was trying to keep a strong facade for his love.
Hannah went to Emily who had her eyes closed, leaning back onto the chair tiredly. Jimin stood by Seokjin.
"Ema, you alright?" She asked softly. Emily just nodded weakly. It hurted Hannah to see Emily like this.
"She is gonna be fine. She is strong." Emily spoke after a few minutes of silence. Her voice broken but firm.
"Yes she is. She is gonna be up and all bubbly and cheery in no time." Han added agreeing with Ema.
"By the way where are the others?" Han asked.
"Dad went to extend their stay in the hotel for a few more days and freshen up. Evan had to go to drop Jenna and Jayden back home." Emily informed to which Han nodded. Han looked at Mrs. John who looked broken and gave a light squeeze on her palm reassuringly.
The door to the observation room opened revealing a doctor who had a relieved smile on his face. They quickly rushed to his side, eager to know of her state.
"We have good news. Eliza is awake now and started responding vaguely. You can see her soon, we will be moving her to the ICU now."
"Can we see now ?" Her mom asked eagerly.
"I am sorry, but you will have to wait till she gets to her room. Just a few more minutes." He patted her shoulder softly with a smile and went away.
After about half an hour, they were all ready to meet her. According to the hospital protocol all were not allowed to enter at once.
Her mom and Emily went in first. The moment they saw her bandaged up in white, her mom broke down. She looked almost unrecognizable. Emily tried to stay strong for her and her mom.
"Ela honey, how are you feeling?" Her mom asked her softly. She nodded with a subtle movement. Doctors have told it was going to be painful for her to speak and she has to take it slow. The dent that was left on her head was dangerous and it was only because of her luck that she was able to recover. The internal bleeding could have paralyzed her.
"Take it slow okay? Take your time." She soothingly rubbed her forearm. Her smooth clear skin was now marred with bruises and scars. It was hard to control the tears looking at their baby.
"Hey silly. Don't tell me now you have lost your memories or something? I don't want anymore drama." Emily playfully said shaking her head restraining a sob from escaping. Eliza could not help but crack a small smile painfully. It felt good to see her smile after such a long time.
They talked for a few more minutes, more like Eliza listened while they talked. But that was enough and wholesome for her.
After a few seconds Seokjin, Hannah and Jimin entered. Hannah sat beside her and the other two stood. They were too shocked at first but fortunately Jimin was quick enough to crack the silence before it became painfully difficult.
"Yah, you look like cotton candy right now." He said flashing his cute eye smile. she smiled softly, her dimples inexistent. Everybody missed her smile and seeing her smiling in difficulty pricked their heart.
They talked for a while and then left giving Seokjin and Eliza a little time of their own. He slowly approached her and sat on the chair beside her.
She looked at him, a lone tear escaped her almond eyes. He held onto her hands tightly but not enough to hurt her.
"I missed you a lot." He said, his eyes glistening against the bright sunlight rushing in through the open glass windows.
She smiled, her eyes spoke more than her lips could. She rubbed small circles on the back of his palm. It was her way to assure him she was alright and that he shouldn't cry. He lifted his other hand to softly touch her chin and wipe away the tear.
His cold hands on her warm cheeks were somehow imperfectly perfect. But what broke him was, she flinched when his palm brushed against her face. She regretted the way she reacted when she saw his face in pain. She didn't know why but she felt dark, horrible memories rushing in even when she know Jin was her safe haven.
Seokjin understood that her memories from that night will still be fresh on her mind and she will need more time. He reassured her with a smile to show he was okay and removed his hand from her wet cheeks and held onto her palm which was already holding onto his other palm.
"Be healthy and recover soon. I will always be by your side and I mean it. You will never be alone. You always have me. Always." He held onto her tightly, too scared to let go.
A knock on the door was heard informing that the time was up for visitors and Eliza had to rest now.
"I will check up on you, whenever I can okay?" She nodded lightly. "I love you Eliza." He said before leaving her in the room with a stung heart.
