Sebastian's POV
Sebastian followed the old man out through a back door and down a narrow path between flower beds, leading to a small shed standing in the shade of the trees. The door stood ajar and little meowing and purring came from inside.
Gregory motioned for Sebastian to continue towards the shed, while he himself turned back and headed for the flower beds, tending to his day's work.
Sebastian entered the shed. Cuddling together in a basket was a cat and seven kittens. The proud mama, all white, long-haired, was giving her offspring a bath by licking every side of them.
She hissed, baring her teeth, when Sebastian approached them, glaring at him with elongated pupils.
"What a gorgeous lady you are," the demon said to the cat, crouching down beside the basket. "Just look at that fur, white as freshly fallen snow and fluffy as a cloud."
As if understanding him, Missy the cat stopped hissing and stared at Sebastian with her yellow eyes, as if expecting more compliments.
"And what a tremendous job you did, bringing such healthy looking kits into this world."
The demon reached out with his hand and this time the cat didn't hiss. Missy let Sebastian pet her, purring at his strokes. She even let him pet the kittens; blind little balls of fluff.
All of a sudden, an all too familiar voice spoke at the butler's side, "I knew I'd run into you here, Sebaschaaan."
There was only one creature in this world that called him by that name.
"Grell Sutcliff," Sebastian glared up and met the Grim Reaper's green eyes, set behind square glasses. The reaper rested their weight on the giant saw that served them as a death scythe.
"Aww, the way you say my name sends chills down my body. I'm telling you, chills," said Grell with a wide, sharp grin, "please say it more..."
Sebastian stared the red clothed reaper up and down with a disapproving look then asked, "what are you doing here?"
"What? Well, work of course. I've got a soul to collect at the Robinson manor at..." Grell peaked into the leather book he held in his hand, then with a sigh said, "wow, in three minutes. Time sure does fly. I'd love to stay and chat, Sebaschaaan, but duty calls."
With that, the grim reaper did a salute and headed outside, but didn't get far, as the demon caught them by the arm.
Grell looked at him and exploded with red.
"I know I'm hard to resist, but please be gentler with me senpai," the reaper exclaimed, burying their face in their hands, but the black butler ignored them.
"What do you mean, a soul to collect?" Sebastian asked, astonished.
"Well most of the times when a person dies their soul needs to be collected. That's when we - the grim reapers - come in. But I thought demons knew all that. Sebaschan, I don't understand why you're aski-"
"Who's soul," the butler cut him off, his voice growing more and more dangerous, "who's going to die? I need a name," Sebastian shook Grell's shoulders to make the urgency perceivable, yet the reaper only seemed to be enjoying themselves.
"Why the long face?" Asked Grell, "Is your master here? Is that why you're so worried? I wish you'd care that much about me too."
Sebastian flashed his true form eyes at the reaper, immediately shutting them up. In a voice, darker than the skies before dawn, he growled, "Tell me, reaper. Who's soul are you here for?"
Grell yelped and dashed away from him.
"Where's the fun if I give away all the answers. Go and find out yourself," concluded the reaper and headed down the path towards the manor. Stealing another glimpse from their book they exclaimed, "a minute already! I better hurry."
Sebastian didn't wait for an invitation, he sprinted ahead.
If anything happened to Y/N while he was gone, he'd tear this whole damn house apart brick by brick and incinerate every last speck of it; he'd erase it permanently out of this world and out of existence.
For Y/N he'd do anything.
