Y/N's POV
I sighed.
He still hadn't come back.
The ride was awfully dull when I was all by myself.
Where was that damned demon?
I looked out of one window, then the other, searching with my eyes all the way to the horizon. For a second I thought I saw him in the distance and was about to shout out his name before realizing that it was just a scarecrow clothed in black.
Oh.
I sank back in my seat in disappointment, and closed my eyes letting them rest for a bit.
I couldn't help but feel a little guilty for causing him to leave. No matter how I looked at it, it was because of me that he had to 'get some air'. I was the one who started something I wasn't able to finish. He got all aroused and I completely cut him off.
But the truth is, I wanted it to happen... just... not the way he was doing it.
In a carriage of all places.
I sighed again.
We kept on going, rocking back and forth on the uneven road. I thought I dozed off for a while because when I next opened my eyes we came to a stop. We seemed to have arrived at a forest, as the pleasant smell of pine trees and damp moss filled my lungs.
The carriage door opened and there was my black butler greeting me with a smile on his face. Seeing him made me so very happy that I exclaimed cheerfully without even realizing, "Sebastian!"
His smile widened at my reaction. Our eyes met and it seemed like an invisible spark passed between us.
Sebastian held out his hand, offering to help me down from the carriage.
Getting up, I said, "you were gone for such a while."
"My apologies." His eyes never left mines.
I took the hand he offered and descended one step of the carriage, remarking how when I stood on it, we were almost the same height.
Then I did something unexpected. I stood on my toes and wrapped my arms around the demon, pulling him close and into a tight hug, breathing him in, accepting his warmth.
Staying like that for a few heartbeats, I put my lips to his ear and murmured softly against his skin, "when we get back home, I promise..." I trailed off, letting him guess the rest, and finished by pressing my lips to his cheek and planting a small kiss there.
Not waiting for an answer, I jumped off the step and headed down the path between the tall pine trees that lead to a huge red brick manor with a dark blue roof and white balconies.
Sebastian quickly caught up to me and, as he was passing by my side, subtly grabbed my hand and interlaced our fingers together, setting off a butterfly explosion in my stomach. Looking to the side I found him smiling. Giving my hand a gentle but meaningful squeeze, he let go and continued ahead of me, leading the way like a proper servant.
I smiled to myself, feeling genuinely happy for the first time in a while.
Sebastian's POV
Things have changed so drastically in just a number of days.
Y/N and him were closer than ever before, and she trusted in him more than ever too.
It's like all this time a wall existed between them, and now it was finally crumbling down, letting them get a better and better grasp of each other.
Sebastian still felt absolutely terrible about biting her. That shame would stay with him for eternity and he knew it. He felt like he'd never be able to apologize enough for it to her.
But she said she forgave him... kept repeating it too because he just wouldn't believe it. Y/N wanted him as much as he wanted her; the demon couldn't grasp the full extent of his happiness. He'd take it slow with her, taking their time to enjoy every step of the way. And he'd never hurt her again, even if it kills him, he would learn to keep his thirst for love and for blood separate, no matter how hard that may be.
Sebastian decided that he was going to confess his love to her.
Not today, but sometime soon - when the moment was right.
He threw his head up and let the warm rays of the sun caress his face, smiling. Everything was going so well, he knew that nothing could ruin it now.
Y/N POV
Upon arriving at the mansion's entrance, we were greeted by two armed guards. One asked me to state my name and, upon hearing it, left inside without a word.
A few moments later, the heavy door flew open and a wealthy looking man came through it with his arms outstretched before him.
"Welcome, welcome, Y/N Phantomhive," he greeted with a raucous voice, "I am Frederick Robinson," I shook his outstretched hand after which he kissed the back of my palm, "it is a pleasure to meet you."
He was a tall man, slightly on the heavier side, and took up a lot of space with his presence. His curly, auburn hair that was the length of his shoulders was partly tied up into a man bun. A short beard decorated his square face, and small, laughing eyes sat under thick eyebrows.
"Did you get here alright? It must have been a long ride," he asked.
"Yes, we did, thank you," I answered, a bit taken aback by his enthusiasm.
Frederick looked up at Sebastian who stood at my side, as if just noticing him.
"Is he your bodyguard?" He wondered.
"I'm simply one hell of a butler," the demon introduced himself, doing a bow as a greeting.
The two men stared each other up and down, and I noticed an invisible string of tension form between them, or was it just my imagination?
"Please do come in," Frederick motioned inside the manor invitingly.
More armed guards in matching vests awaited indoors, lined like statues against the walls.
Sebastian walked only a step away from me, calculations happening behind his eyes as he took in the guards and their weapons.
"Seems like thieves aren't a problem of yours," I commented to Frederick.
He laughed full heartedly, "no. Ever since a tragic accident a few years back, the manor has been well protected and there's been no disturbance since. The Phantomhive manor could also greatly benefit from guards, let me know if you'll be looking into hiring any."
I chuckled.
"Hear that, butler?" I turned to look at Sebastian, "maybe I should get some guards for protection," I threw a knowing smile at him and he returned it.
"Certainly, my Lady," he grinned wider, flaunting his fangs.
Frederick observed the exchange in silence, his broad shoulders tensing once his eyes met the demon's teeth.
"The table is all set," he informed us with a little shake in his voice, "please come this way, Lady Phantomhive." He gestured towards the entrance to the dining room.
Entering it, various fruits, warm bread, freshly cooked meat, different drinks and desserts of all shapes and sizes lay before my eyes. I filled my lungs with all the different smells, sensing how my mouth began to water.
"Let's eat!" announced Frederick.
