LOCATION: Paran Lighthouse, Bennington, VT

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Paran, the Lighthouse is not abandoned, but it looks the part. The locals whispered about strange flashes of light coming from the lantern room, especially on foggy nights, even when the keeper wasn't tending to it. Stories about the mysterious disappearance of a former keeper—Paul Rotterfield—back in 1923 are popular, mentioning rumors about his supposed haunting of the building, particularly on the stairs.

A PRIORI EVIDENCE: People often report hearing heavy footsteps in the tower, even when no one else is in there. Flickering lights during storms have been witnessed in the lantern room, even when the power was cut. Boot prints have been left on the snow, leading up to the door, but there was no trace of everyone ever leaving. The most damning piece of evidence comes from drone footage, having captured a silhouette pacing around the catwalk.
