Hogwartstale

-Time is up, please rest your feathers!

One moment later the examinator flung her wand and a hundred parchment sheets fled straight to her hands. Frisk smiled watching her paper leave her desk. She was exausted, but she did a good job, hopefully that exam would garantee an Outstanding on her Transfiguration N.E.W.T.. She would need as many Os as possible to join the Ministry of Magic, wich has been her dream for years now.

Frisk stood up and streched, looking around at her collegues who seemed as exausted as she was. She exchanged a few words with Chara but she wanted to go back to Slytherin common room already to get some rest, so they split up at the dungeons entrance and Frisk lead up alone to the marble staircase. She took a shortcut behind a tapestry, jumped over Napstablook, who was taking a nap in the middle of the corridor, and end up in front of professor Sans' office.

The girl smiled. Sans was by far her favorite teacher at Hogwarts. Actually, he was probably her favorite person in the world. Well, he could share the first place with Toriel, she probably wouldn't mind. The skeleton joined the wizardry school as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher just a couple years ago, after the old professor Corner retired. Sans and Frisk hit it right away.

Frisk first started talking to Sans after classes moved by her ambition of joining the Ministry of Magic to fight for the rights of the non-human magical beings. He was the first non-human to lecture at Hogwarts since professor Firenze, the centaur, and Frisk was excited to get to know him. Like most of her collegues, she had never spoke to a skeleton before. Sans turned out to be a wonderfull company, he would talk to her about skeletons and other monsters, they would exchange jokes and chat about their lives. It was a thing now, going to his office just to talk about nothing and everything.

But right now she entered the place with great news.

-Hey, professor! - she smiled at the lazy skeleton that was laying on the couch - Guess who nailed Transfiguration today?

Sans opened his eyes and looked for the source of the sound, still sleepy. There she was, standing at the door, his favorite Hogwarts student. Or maybe, his favorite person in the world. Well, she could share the first place with Papyrus, he probably wouldn't mind. He gave Frisk his signature grin and sat on the couch, a proud look on his face.

-Congrats, kid! Here, lemme shake your hand, future Ministry worker.

She did, and a loud fart noise took over the place. Sans had a whoopee cushion on his hand, tipical. Frisk giggled. She was probably the only student that laughed at Sans silly jokes, but she couldn't avoid it, she found it really funny. The short monster snorted and waved his bony fingers, making the cushion dissapear. Unlike humans, skeletons didn't needed wands to use magic, something Frisk found really amazing.

-So, just a couple more exams left, am I right?

-That's right! - Frisk sat by his side, tired - I'm going to rest for the next hour, then I'll study for tomorrow's Potion's exams. There will be theory and pratic on the same day, it's goin to be really tiring... and the day after that there's History of Magic, but I'm pretty confident with that one - most students hated History of Magic, but that was actually her best subject.

-That's great. I'm rooting for ya, kid - Sans winked at her, then looked at the room around them wearing an unusual expression - Then you'll leave this place - he made a pause, still contemplating the messy office. Outside birds were singing, students were resting near the lake, it was a beautiful day - Hey, Frisk... Will ya miss me?

Frisk turned at him, surprised with the serious tone in his usually carefree voice, but Sans wasn't looking at her. Was it... Concern? In his eyes?

-Heh, nevmind - the skeleton blinked and it was gone. Was she mistaken? Sans got up and put his hands in his pockets, turning at her - Welp,  I need to supervise an O.W.L. right now. Sucks, right?

The skeleton waved his fingers once more and summoned a bouquet of golden flowers.

-A lil somethin' for your achievement in Transfiguration - he handed her the flowers wearing his usual grin. Maybe that look was her imagination after all - Good luck on Potions tomorrow, kid.

Frisk grabbed the bouquet and stood up, leading to the door with a grateful smile.

-Thank you so much! Bye, handsome - she winked, flirty as usual.

-Bye, honey - he winked back, and disapeared with a loud crack. Skeletons were one of the few beings that could apparate inside Hogwarts, just as house elves.

Frisk froze, surprised. She always liked to flirt, it was her thing since she was a kid. She did it with her friends, with her teachers, even with strangers, everyone knew she was flirty and some of them even played along, never taking it seriously.

But not Sans. Since they've met each other, Sans had never once flirted back. At first he would look bewildered and adorably flustered with her game, and after a while he would just answer her with a snort, followed maybe by a "right, kid". Now suddenly he gave her flowers and replied to her flirt, all of that so naturally! Why?

Frisk was still staring at the place Sans had apparated, holding the bouquet in disbelief. She felt her face heating with a sudden thought.

Was he... Just waiting for her to graduate?

~

"Oopsie, a week too early", Sans thought, apparating at the great hall and scaring a group of Hufflepuff boys that were standing a few steps away.

Frisk couldn't be more accurate, Sans WAS just waiting for her to graduate. The past two years were more than enough for him to fall for this lovely and kind human but, even thought Frisk was already seventeen, the skeleton believed it would be wrong to act on it while she was his student. So he waited, and the waiting was finally coming to an end.

The only problem with his plan was Frisk was leaving. One more week and the Hogwarts Express would take her far away from him, and sure, they could always meet outside the school, but in case he makes a move and she rejects him... would she still WANT to meet him? Or would she be too uncomfortable to do so? And then there will be no more chatting about life, no more puns, no more carefree laughter?

He would have to think this through.

-Alright - Sans turned to the exam room and the talking ceased. He waved his hand and summoned a large hourglass, making it float above his head - Yer exam starts now, you have two hours. You can turn your papers now.

-...and the last question? "Describe the influence of Minister Granger on the advances of the house elves rights"? They just asked me to write about my number one idol, I still can't believe it!

-Well, at least one of us passed this one - Chara sighed, resigned, then looked at the sky - It's over. It's finally over! My god, I thought this week was going to kill me! We need to celebrate! - she turned at Frisk, her red eyes filled with expectation.

-Yes!! - Frisk returned the look - I've promissed myself I wouldn't touch my broomstick until the finals were over, I need to take a ride right now!!

-Wha... Flying?? - Chara stared at her in disbelief. She hated flying - That's how you want to celebrate?! I was thinking about joining the seniors party at the Room of Requirement, I heard the Longbottoms have butterbeer!

-I'm sorry, but I'll have to meet you there later! - Frisk was already leading to the dungeons - See ya!

Chara grunted, and run up the marble staircase.

~

Minutes later Frisk was outside the castle mounting an old Thundershot 300 that seemed as excited as she was to go back to flying. They rose fast into the colorful twilight sky, grateful for the wind that run wild to met them. Frisk laughed, filled with joy, her hair spinning crazily behind her. God, she missed that! She have retired from her position as the Slytherin Keeper after last year Quidditch championship because she wanted to focus on her studies, but even so she kept riding her broomstick now and then, just for the joy of flying. The past four weeks were an exception to this rule, all she did was study, stuck to the ground all day.

And it was finally over! Frisk rode fast above the lake and then she turned back to fly around the castle. The girl slowed down, taking some time to absorve the view of the place that had been her second home for the past seven years. The sun had set, she could see the torchs were already lit through the numerous towers' windows.

She would miss this place. She would miss the meals with her friends at the great hall, and visiting Hogsmead with them, and laying near the lake on summer eventides. She would miss talking to the paintings on her way to classes, and the classes itself, and the fireplace at the commom room, and mail time, and Quidditch. But above all of this, she would miss...

-Heya, human!

Frisk almost fell from her broomstick, startled. She turned around and there he was, standing at the astronomy tower, chuckling. Professor Sans.

-Hey, you scared me! - Frisk giggled, landing beside him and putting the broom down.

-I noticed - Sans was still laughing. Her scared face was adorable.

-What are you doing up here? - the girl asked.

-Just observing the sky - he made a gesture indicating the telescope behind him - Mars is bright tonight, wanna take a look?

-Ohh I won't fall for the telescope trick twice, professor!

-Too bad - Sans grinned - And ya can drop the "professor", wasn't your last test today?

-Oh - Frisk stopped for a moment - Right.

Last test was today. She was no longer his student. This thought brought her back to the last time they've met, that brief encounter on Sans' office. She had been thinking a lot about that day. Frisk took a deep breath, trying to reunite the courage that was needed for what she had planned to do.

-Y-you know... - she stuttered looking at the stone floor, hating herself for the sudden shyness - About that question you made me...

She rose her eyes at Sans, filled with determination.

-Yes, I'll miss you - she smilled warmly at the short skeleton in front of her - A lot. I'll m-miss you more than anyone else in this castle. I...

She interrupted herself, too afraid to keep going. What if she was wrong?

Sans grinned. It was his turn.

-I'll miss you too, Frisk. Hey, can I tell ya a secret? Come closer.

There was noone around to hear him, but Frisk approached him anyway.

-Closer.

She took one more step. Sans made a gesture for her to lean forward and so she did. He leaned towards her ear.

And bit it.

Frisk gasped, surprised. She took a step back and covered her ear with one hand, staring at Sans with a burning face.

-W-w-what was that?? - she babbled, her heart racing inside her chest. That was completelly unexpected. And weirdly pleasant.

Sans chucked, one hand on his forehead. His cheekbones had a light tone of blue.

-Sorry girl, I just had to be sure. Ya see - he rose one bony finger, as if they were at one of his lectures. Frisk listened still - With this quick experiment, we can conclude a lot. I can see for instance ya didn't get disgusted by that. You're embarrassed, sure, but also pleased. So I conclude ya got som' feelings for me.

Frisk blushed even more. She didn't even knew that was possible, even her ears were burning, specially the bitten one. Sans continued his explanation.

-We can also learn one more thing: ya see, you are blushing way too hard, so you're clearly new at this. That means I can't take ya to my office right now - he waved his hand and summoned a wooden stool between them - But I'm pretty sure I can do this.

Without any more warnings, Sans jumped on the stool and kissed her. Frisk blinked, paralised for one moment. Her head was already spinning with Sans' words, and now, well, let's say her brain seemed to evaporate instantly. She closed her eyes and melted against him, feeling her whole body heat while pixies seemed to be furiously dancing inside her stomach. He grabbed her waist with one hand and the back of her head with the other with a gentle touch, and Frisk grabbed the back of his cloak in response. Sans' chest was filled with joy. That kiss was tender, long and full of meanings.

Frisk was leaving Hogwarts, but Sans would see her again. And again, and again. Certain as the sun rising in the east, certain as a werewolf transformation on a fullmoon night. All was well.
