Narcissa

I finally got my letter!

26th July 1966.
Dear Mother,
I'm starting Hogwarts this year and unfortunately I have two years until Bella finishes school and four with Dromeda. I know that I'm going to be in Slytherin like all of the Blacks if I'm put in any of the other houses it'd be humiliating. I have to go since I need to go to Diagon Alley to get my school supplies and a wand. Bella is accompanying me there so I won't wander off or get kidnapped or whatever the muggles call it. I miss you more and more every day.

Love ,
Cissy

1st September 1967

After a month of waiting impatiently, it was finally time for me to go to Hogwarts. I hurried downstairs with my trunk and my owl Aquila in her cage. My father apparated me and Bella came with Dromeda. I passed a cute boy with ginger hair and brilliant blue eyes. "Don't look at that blood-traitor, Narcissa." Father warned me.

"They're the poor Weasleys!" He spat the word 'Weasleys' like it was dirt. I furrowed my eyebrows. 'Blood Traitor?' and then I realized I would be a blood-traitor too if I talked to this Weasley boy. It would bring disgrace on the 'Noble House of Black', which I definitely didn't want, so I put on a look of disgust and glared at him, receiving a confused look in response.

I boarded the train, and I sat in an empty compartment, praying that no-one with dirty blood like mudbloods, half-bloods or blood-traitors like that boy Weasley- what a stupid name for a pureblood family, it sounds like a weasel it's pathetic. I sat there for a quite a while, just staring at the crowds outside from beyond a window. I recognized some people, like Melissa, who was my third cousin from my mother's side, and Jonathan, who was technically my uncle from my father's side. A girl with tanned skin, chocolate brown hair and brown eyes came into my compartment. "Is it okay if I sit here?" she shyly asked.

"I this is the only compartment for first years that isn't full please can I sit?" she begged.
I stared at her suspiciously wondering what to do next. "What are you?" I asked her threateningly. She looked confused "What?" she said and I sighed, she's getting on my nerves now just answer the question seriously. "I mean, what's your blood status? Are you a pureblood, a mudblood, etc."?
"Oh," Her confusion cleared out from her face, replaced by an annoyed expression. "First of, you shouldn't care if someone's pure or not." I opened my mouth to tell a snide remark, but she continued.

"I mean, I know there aren't much muggleborns that are talented in magic, but I bet there will be one."
I glared at her, "Just tell me what your blood status is or leave me alone and sit with one of the older kids." I said impatiently. She rolled her eyes and replied, "Okay! My family's pure. Happy or do you want me to go sit with the older kids and leave you alone?"

I smiled and said, "Oh. Come on in," I beckoned her to sit next to me but instead she sighed and sat at the other side of the compartment- much to my annoyance. "That's a yes, I can tell."
We stayed silent for some time, awkwardly sitting there, me with my hands on my knees and her with her arms folded against her chest, glaring at nothing in particular.

Regret sank into my chest, and I fidgeted in my seat, wondering if I should say sorry or not.
"Look," I started hesitantly, and her eyes glanced at me momentarily before fixating itself again on the carpeted floor. "I-I'm really sorry for that, okay? I just don't want my family to be looked down on just because of me." I paused. "Surely, you understand what I mean, with you a pureblood also."

She was silent, her lips in a straight line and her eyebrows furrowed, and I frowned deeply, feeling rejected. Was she accepting my apology, it doesn't look like it. After a long, intense period of silence, she spoke up. "I forgive you, I guess."

She ran a hand through her wavy hair. "It's just- I hate it when people judge other people just by their reputation. Don't they know they have a personality, too? "She said in a tone that showed she's obviously annoyed with me. I nodded. "I see what you mean..." For the first time since I've seen her, she gave me a genuine smile, and I couldn't help but smile back.

"I'm Raykandni Gainaznloy Callista Abigail Lynch, but everyone just calls me Gaina." she explained, and I raised my eyebrows. "That's a really long name." I remarked. She laughed. "I'll take that as a compliment. How 'bout you? What's your name?"

I coughed all professional like, and said in a posh tone," My name is Narcissa Black, pureblood, whole family in Slytherin. "She looked awestruck, but then she put on a smirk. That was when I had a feeling we'll be great friends. We swiftly get changed into our robes, although they're quite plain without our house colours on them. For the rest of the train ride to Hogwarts, we talked and chatted like there was no tomorrow, talking about everything we can think of.

There was one time when an elderly but nice lady came rolling about with a cart full of sweets, and we immediately bought out favourites. We traded sweets, gagging at those beans that we found horrible and nodding appreciably when we found some kind of sweet that was seemed delicious. As we left the train, a huge man apparently called 'Hagrid' led us to the boats. Only four people were allowed on one boat, so I was stuck with Gaina, a nice girl named Kelly Smith, and a mischievous-looking boy called Felix Prince.
