Chapter Two: Diagon Alley

Welcome to the Leaky Cauldron, said the sign only visible to a person with magical abilities eye. A sign that Raven never would ever see in her life, but that Apple skipped pass with her mother. Apple was extremely excited to be here at Diagon's alley. She walked into the Leaky Cauldron and saw that no one noticed her, or her mother, which was strange because they were normally greeted with a "Hello your majesties," or something like that. No, no, everyone was looking at the back. One of her mother's old friends greeted them and quickly began to converse with her mom, so Apple walked over to the bar.

The bartender glanced up. "Apple White?" he asked.

"Yes, how come no one noticed me?" she wondered.

"Ah, yes, you see, Harry Potter just passed through here with Hagrid, on his way to Diagon Alley," the bartender replied and dried the glass he was holding.

Apple nodded. "Harry Potter was here?"

A few murmurs of yes came from the crowd of people in the restaurant/bar. Apple nodded again and found her mom. "Harry Potter was here," she said.

Her mom waved her hand dismissively. "Of course, I have already heard. Let's go," she replied, giving a court goodbye nod to her friend and leaving with her daughter.

She tapped the stones on the wall in the back and the wall opened up to one of the most magical places in the world, Diagon Alley. The place was lined with every kind of shop you could imagine, and more, everywhere people were walking and the air always had a distinct but unidentifiable scent. Here was Apple's favorite place by far, next to the hot tub in her bedroom.

"Flourish and Blotts first," her mother said.

The two walked in, only to be met by Lucius and Draco Malfoy.

"Malfoy," said Snow White sharply.

"White," he replied with a cold tone.

"I see you're taking Draco around, he's attending this year?"

"Yes, I see you're still mad about the time Slytherin beat Ravenclaw in quidditch."

"You're clearly not caught up, because that happened years ago."

"And yet you seem to always fear it."

"I am tired of this conversation Lucius. Apple we're leaving ," her mother said, taking Apple and leading her deep inside the store to look for supplies.

Kitty Cheshire was walking around with the Weasleys and Lizzie Hearts. Kitty's mom and dad's anniversary was today, and couldn't be missed. And Lizzie was with them because the Queen of Hearts couldn't be seen outside her kingdom, unlike most queens, so she let Lizzie walk around with the group, knowing that she would be safe.

"So where do we need to head?" Kitty asked Molly Weasley.

"First to Ollivanders, to get your wands," she replied.

"Am I getting a new wand?" Ron asked.

"No, you're going to have to use the hand-me-down," Molly said, "the stop is for the others."

The group stopped in front of the wand store and Kitty and Lizzie walked in.

Mr. Ollivander greeted them. "Well, if it isn't Miss Lizzie Hearts and Miss Kitty Cheshire. Wand shopping?"

"Yes, could we get wands for school?" Lizzie asked.

"Ah, yes, I have just the thing for you, Miss Hearts," he said and picked up a wand box and handed it to Lizzie.

The red and black haired girl opened the box and took out the wand. It was 11 inches, the wood was a red/orange color and had hearts engraved on the handle.

"Unicorn hair core," Mr. Ollivander added.

"Give it a try!" Kitty said, smiling.

Lizzie waved it at the plant in the corner. A stream of red-pink light swirled out and the flower bloomed. Mr. Ollivander nodded. Lizzie put the wand back in the box and closed it. She handed Mr. Ollivander the amount of galleons and knuts listed on the box and put the wand in her red and black bag.

"And now for you, Miss Cheshire," he said handing her a box that he had removed from a pile in the back.

Kitty blew off the dust and flipped the latch on the old wooden box to open it. Inside lay an 11 inch wand with blackthorn and a dragon core. And it was all covered with another layer of dust. She blew at the wand and watched a dust cloud fly off towards Lizzie, who proceeded to sneeze.

"Really Kitty?" Lizzie sneezed a second time.

Kitty laughed and picked up the wand. She pointed it at the pile of empty boxes next to the desk. The boxes rearranged into a neat 10 by ten stack.

Mr. Ollivander smiled. "That is the wand for you," he said.

Kitty handed the money over, thanked him, and exited the store with Lizzie. They rejoined the group and continued to walk along the cobblestone path

"How was it?" asked Ron.

"Good, I guess that's how you would describe a trip to a wand store," Lizzie said.

"True," he replied.

"You know Fred," said George.

"What?" Fred replied.

"We should one day have a joke store here," George said.

"You know that's a good idea," Fred said.

"What do you think Kitty, as a prankster yourself."

"Sounds purrfect if you ask me," she replied.

"A joke store? Really boys? Come up with an actual career that's worth it," Molly sighed.

"But Mum...." Fred started.

Elsewhere in Diagon Alley, a young girl was walking around by herself. C. A. Cupid was supposed to be being watched by her uncle, but, because her uncle was a lazy person and had sent her off to Diagon Alley alone, she was looking around and lugging a large cart with her. She truly needed a pet, which was the last thing on her list. It was true, she did have a pegasus back at her home, but she really wanted an owl.

The pink-haired, winged, girl walked inside the pet shop. It was a grand sight, for a pet shop that is, there were many animals, mostly owls, cats, frogs, rats, and many other creatures. She moved out of the doorway and sat on an oak bench by the front window. She rested her cart on the grey-brown wood floor and took a deep breath. She had been dragging the cart around half of the day and it only got heavier and heavier with every stop. She also had to make extra stops than the necessities for amorentia ingredients, magic flowers, and a love arrow pick-up. A covered sheath rested on her back and her bow was across her. She was only wearing a light jacket, because her wings covered most of her back.

Cupid took off her dark pink beret and stuffed it into her purse pocket. Cupid then dragged her tired self up again and yanked the cart to an employee, who worked in the owl section.

"Hello, I'm looking to buy an owl, do you have some I could pick from?" she asked.

"Sure," the employee said, then looked up from the papers he was glancing at and saw her, "Aren't you a bit young to be here by yourself? I can help you get an owl, but where are your parents?"

Cupid sighed, this had happened in every store she'd been to so far. "I was sent her alone, my parents are busy and they trust me to do this," she rattled off from memory.

Truthfully, Cupid had bent the truth a little bit, her drunk uncle clearly wouldn't and couldn't take her, so she had to go by herself. Would her parents cared? Probably not, her uncle being related to Diyonisis, the god of wine and basically partying and getting drunk.

The employee nodded and walked Cupid (and her big heavy cart) to a section with snowy owls. "Which one?" he asked.

Cupid looked at the white, feathery creatures in front of her. She looked at all of them and pointed to the one with the dark beak and pale pinkish coloring. "I would love to have that owl," she smiled.

"Sure, twenty galleons," the worked said, grabbing the cage.

Cupid smiled and nodded. She reached into her purse and presented the twenty galleons. The employee placed the owl cage in the cart, then added bungee cords to the cart, to keep the cage in place.

"Thank you," Cupid smiled as she started to drag the cart to the exit.

"You're welcome."

Once Cupid made it outside, she pushed her cart to the side of the pathway and checked over all her things. One thing was for sure, she was ready for her first day of Hogwarts.
