Ashton
Sophie and I lay on her bed as I pressed my ear to her stomach and grinned crazily as I felt our baby kicking. It had been three months since we told everyone we were having a baby and it's been pretty perfect so far. Aside from the fact that I fall deeper in love with her every day and we're still not together, I couldn't be happier.
She giggled as she stroked my hair and shook her head at me. She looked unbelievably gorgeous with her hair piled on top of her head in a cute messy bun and she was literally glowing with happiness. I couldn't take my eyes off her. Not that I even wanted to, I thought to myself as she tapped my nose lightly with her finger. "The baby's been kicking like crazy and every time you still act like it's the first time you've felt it move." She teased and I chuckled as I sat up.
"It's just the most amazing thing in the world, Soph. He's so strong." Sophie rolled her eyes as she placed her hand on her stomach.
"We don't know for sure if it's a boy yet." She sighed and then a notification went off on her phone. She picked it up and whatever it was caused her to frown.
"What is it?" I asked and she shrugged as she held her phone out to me. I took it from her, completely confused but then grew angry at what I was seeing.
It was a post on Instagram that showed me laughing and smiling as I walked with the Blackhawks personal trainer, Lindsey. I looked up at Sophie who was staring out her bedroom window and rubbing her stomach with a blank expression on her face. "Soph, it's not what it looks like." I said quickly, but she shook her head as she gave me a small smile.
"It's okay, Ashton. We're not together anymore, so you can see whoever you want." She assured me and I felt like I had been slapped in the face. She thought I was dating her and it seemed she didn't care at all.
"So, you don't care if I date someone else?" I asked, climbing off the bed and Sophie sighed as she sat up and fixed her sweatshirt.
"I care about your happiness, Ashton. If dating another girl makes you happy then I'll just have to accept it." She said with a shrug as she stood up and folded her arms across her chest.
"Well, thanks, Soph, but we're not together. We were just leaving the arena at the same time and actually talking about you." I informed her and she rolled her eyes at me as she bit her lip.
"You don't have to lie to me, Ashton. I mean she's beautiful, even I want to sleep with her." She chuckled and walked around me towards her bathroom. I raised my eyebrows as I stared at her like she was insane and followed her.
"Sophie, you're literally stunning! There's no way you could possibly think that you aren't more gorgeous than Lindsey!" I exclaimed and she scoffed as she glared at me.
"Are you seriously making fun of me right now?" She asked in disbelief and pointed towards her stomach. "I am almost six months pregnant with your baby looking like a freaking whale and you dare to stand there and say that I'm prettier than Lindsey." I stared at her, completely caught off guard by her sudden burst of outrage, and before I could say anything she stormed over to her bedroom door and ripped it open. "I'd like you to leave, please." She said and I shook my head.
"What? No, come on, Sophie-"
"I'm serious, Ashton. Leave." She said sternly and I frowned as I looked at the door and then back at her. When I realized she wasn't joking, I slowly left her room.
"Sophie, listen to me-" I said turning around, but she slammed the door in my face and locked it. I stared at the door in shock for a few moments as I tried to process what had just happened. One minute we were smiling and laughing, the next she exploded and kicked me out and I had no idea why.
"Everything okay, Ashton?" Mrs. Lincoln asked as she appeared at the top of the stairs and I scratched the back of my neck nervously as I walked over to her.
"I don't know to be honest with you, Mrs. Lincoln. Sophie kinda just exploded on me." I admitted and she giggled as she patted my shoulder.
"Welcome to the joys of pregnancy, Ashton. Her hormones are so amped up right now, the littlest thing could set her off." She informed me and I sighed, but suddenly, Sophie's door ripped open revealing a very pissed-off pregnant woman who was staring at us like she wanted to commit murder.
"I can hear you, you know!" She then slammed the door shut and I slowly turned to face Mrs. Lincoln and she whistled lowly.
"I think we should just let her be for a little while, honey. She'll be okay." She assured me as she grabbed my arm and pulled me down the stairs.
Patrick and Christina were snuggled on the couch as Mrs. Lincoln dragged me into the living room and they were both trying not to burst out laughing. "Everything okay, buddy?" Patrick asked teasingly and grinned at me mischievously. I glared at him as I picked up a pillow and chucked it at him, but that only caused Patrick to burst out laughing.
