That Took An Unexpected Turn

Lizzie trying to find a perfect match for Hope takes an unexpected turn.
...

“Lizzie, I have been on ten dates today, and something has gone horribly, catastrophically, and impossibly wrong on each and every one of them.” Hope arched her eyebrows at her best friend.
“Well, Hope.” Lizzie held her chin high. “Maybe if you worked on your damage -”
Hope smiled and held up a hand, gently cutting her off. “It’s not me.”
Lizzie didn’t have the heart to lie to Hope. None of the preposterous things that made her dates go hilariously wrong were her fault. They were Lizzie’s doing, each sabotage getting more absurd than the last.
“So, what was wrong with the last one? They weren’t good enough for me? Or they’re too good - out of my league? Don’t tell me you’ve got a crush -”
“I don’t have a crush on you!”
“What?” Hope blinked slowly.
Lizzie crossed her arms. “I don’t have a crush on you.” She huffed and rolled her eyes. “Your narcissism is really showing.”
“I was going to say ‘Don’t tell me you’ve got a crush on them.’”
“Oh.” Lizzie’s arms dropped to her sides.
Hope smiled, slowly, her voice soft and low. “You have a crush on me, don’t you?”
Lizzie’s mouth opened and closed, no words coming out. After a few more times, Hope thought she’d better just kiss her already.
She held Lizzie's face in her hands, standing on her tiptoes to reach. A few moments later, she pulled back to look at Lizzie’s reaction and found her shocked but smiling.
“Well that … took an unexpected turn,” Lizzie said slowly, trying to catch her breath, wide eyes bouncing back and forth between Hope’s. She leaned down, hand on Hope’s jaw, and kissed her again, slowly.
Hope smiled against her lips. “I think you found me the perfect match after all.”
