6. Drama always happens at McDonalds

"How are you feeling today, Selene?" My therapist asked me with her large gray eyes. I liked Mrs. Montague because she was patient and though it may be hard for me to admit, out of all the therapists I've had, she was the one I liked the most.

"Nothing." I simply replied. It was true. I felt nothing. There were times like these when I feel numb and emotionless. I didn't care if she judged me, I tell her the truth everytime.

After a very long session with Mrs. Montague, her asking personal questions, me telling her the truth and not answering whenever I want to. There was, however, something she asked that rung a bell.

"So, what did you do yesterday?" She looked at me like she knew something. Naturally, my defense mechanism acted up and lead me to tell her the truth but not completely. "Nothing. Went to my brother's stupid game and was forced to go to my brother's stupid party."

"And..." She trailed, waiting for me to continue. It was a rush of feelings. I felt euphoric, then infuriated, then mellow, then conflicted and contented. I don't even know why I felt contented with the little pep talk Percy gave me.

A bit agitated, I answered, "And nothing. End of discussion." I frantically waved my hands in front of her just so my words could convey their meaning. After that, she moved into another topic, which I am very thankful, otherwise I would've flipped out. I knew that she knew that I was upset about it and she chose not to press the matter on.

By the time I was finished, I went out of her office and went to the waiting area. There were two people there, a man, probably in his mid-40's, and a girl, teenager, probably my age. What struck me most about the girl was her hair, it was dyed with red, orange, and violet, which were profusely mixed. "It's the hair, isn't it?"

Embarrased, she turned her head away from my eyes. I chuckled lightly and after recovering, I finally said, "It looks...surrealistic."

Her hesitant chuckle was the only sound in the room, which was odd, considering that it was full of mental and emotional people. "Is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing?"

"Don't worry. I gotta go but nice meeting you, I'm Selene." I held out a hand to her.

She opened her mouth to speak but a voice called out her name. "Dee. What's up?" I stood there, frozen on the floor. Out of all the places that he could've been, and out of all the people who could've seen me, it had to be him.

I barely breathed when he got closer. "Selene?" Confusion was evident on his face. I wouldn't be surprised, to be honest, if he has already concluded why I was here. But he's wrong, they all are. And it's all because of what happened last year. Well, unless, of course, he remembers what I told him last night.

Something flashed in his eyes, something I couldn't recognize. His confused expression, though momentarily dropped, continued. He coughed, "So... You've met my cousin, Dimple." He didn't explain why she was there or even asked why I was there. Which left me quite lost.

"Yeah... Listen, I gotta go..." I trailed out as I left. Just as I stepped out of the room, Percy burst through the door I came from. "Hey," He said when he finally caught up his breath, "My cousin's session doesn't end in an hour. And it doesn't seem like you have a ride home. Want to grab a bite?" I was really starting to question his motives. We never spoke like we knew each other. We don't even acknowledge each other's presence when we see each other on public places.

Unsteadily, I muttered, "Sure... I was going to commute but..." He opened the shotgun and let me in in his truck. I secured my seat belt just in case he does something funny. His car pulled up on the parking lot of McDonald's and turned the engine off.

As I was unlocking my seat belt, he already left me. Jerk!

I was already ready to feel disgusted when, "Hey.", his head popped out from my window, which was open throughout the whole ride. He opened the door and let me out.

Inside the franchise was full of teenagers. "Can you get me some fries and cheeseburger with coffee float. Thanks." I started opening my wallet when he fixed his disapproving stare at me. "No. It's on me." He pulled out some cash on his money and waited in the line. I was completely confused, why in the hell would Percy Stonebrook buy me food when I am capably able of buying it myself? It wasn't natural for Percy to show me kindness to this extent.

Recovering from my shock, I amused myself by observing the people around. It was quite full so I doubt that we'd be able to eat here. "Well...Well...Well...So happy to see you here, Selene." Just there and then, with just seven words, I managed to forget how to breathe.

Slowly, I turned to face him. His face as handsome and defined as ever. "What are you doing here, Nick?" Even though my voice was begging me to let itself tremble at his presence, I refused to look weak. After all he's done to Lucy.

He chuckled deviously before putting an arm around me. My eyes darkened at his contact, "Don't you dare touch me!" I forcefully yanked his arm.

Unfortunately for me, this offended him. "Why? Because your boyfriend will get mad at me? Do you even have one because last time I know, you're a little bitch and a prude."

I opened my mouth, angrily fuming, to retort but someone beat me into it. Never in my life have I ever seen Percy so mad that he shook, "So what if she has a boyfriend? I don't think you'd have the decency to leave her alone, Nick. You can't say things like that to my girl just because she doesn't want you. You fucking asshole." Percy wrapped his arm around my waist while the other held our food.

Confused. Angry. A little thankful to Percy. I was feeling differently. Or better yet, I didn't know which one to feel in the emotions swirling inside me.

The same goes for Nick, just not thankful. "You're her boyfriend?" His gaze traveled to me once again, "That's so fucking low, Selene."

Again, Percy answered, "Why because she dated your rival when she promised she wouldn't? Or is it because she got so tired of what you did last year to Lucy that she just needed someone to comfort her and eventually liked me?", his grip tightened on my waist as he continued, "At least, I don't abuse her or make her do things she clearly isn't comfortable with. But you already have, haven't you?" Percy looked at him straight in the eye before steering me away from the scene.

In that moment, I learned that Percy does listen and that....whenever I'm around Mcdonalds, drama always happens.

And in my book, that matters.

So what's up?

And...my writing career crashed and burned. Lol

So, what do you think about this chapter? A little mention of the past is good.

Jolly good day!

Love lots,
Louisa Clark😘
