Chapter 4: 1 year later
Sochi Grand Prix Final
"He's also crushed the free skating event! It will be the the fifth consecutive Grand Prix Final for Russia's legend, Victor Nikiforov."
Victor skated to the middle of the rink, holding flowers as he smiled. Cheers erupting within the crowds. He smiled as he held up his gold medal and kissed it.
"Nikiforov is now 27 years old. Some speculated that he might retire this season, but his masterful performance seems to lay such rumors to rest. As for Yuuri Katsuki, who earned a spot in the Grand Prix Final for the first time..."
Yuuri sat on the bench as he read his phone.
"...what do you think, Honda?"
"Well he didn't preform like his usual self today."
Yuuri looked at his phone as he read, 'Men's figure skating: Katsuki suffers utter defeat.'
"Yuuri, don't look at the news. Let's go back." His coach said.
Yuuri looked at his phone still, "Katsuki fell in last place. Is this season his last?" Yuuri read.
"Yuuri..."
Yuuri looked up from his phone.
Yuuri got up and walked away to the bathroom. As he walked in he didn't notice a certain blonde Russian skater leaning against the wall. Yuuri walked into a stall as he sat down and answered his phone.
"Hello? Mom, were you sleeping?"
"Sorry...oh, you were watching on TV?" Yuuri asked as he sighed, "Huh? A public viewing? Please! I'm so embarrassed!" Yuuri said as he freaked out, before letting out a nervous laugh. He then stopped as his lip trembled and tears pricked from the corner of his eyes. "I'm sorry. I messed up." Yuuri said as he lowered the phone and ended the call. He silently cried, unaware that the Russian Punk was right outside of the stall, Yuri lifted his foot up as he kicked the stall, causing Yuuri to jump in surprise before getting up and opening the door, "Sorry." He said before his eyes widened.
The Junior Grand Prix Final gold medalist...Yuri Plisetsky. The "Russian Punk."...
Yuri stared up at Yuuri, who trembled in fear.
Is looking at me like I'm a piece of trash...What the hell!?
Yuri lifted his hand up as he pointed his at Yuuri, "Hey. I'm competing in the senior division next year. We don't need two Yuri's in the same bracket. Incompetents like you should just retire already. Moron!" He yelled as he used his feet to make him taller as he yelled in his face. And he walked away, Yuuri followed his figure as he left.
Even if I left the sport, there's be tons of talented young skaters rising through the ranks.
***
"Ariana Ivanov has announced that she would be competing in the senior division next year. One of Russia's rising female skaters. Even though she trains in America, she still skates for her home country."
Ariana smiled for the cameras as she held up her silver medal.
"Even though she got second place again this year, she claims to win gold next year."
Ariana wasn't really bothered about getting second place, first place went to Izumo Shoko, from Japan, and Ariana believed that she deserved it. She sighed as she skated off of the ice to take her skates off, once she did her coach followed after her.
"Great job today, Ariana!"
"Thank you, Sarah." Ariana said as she smiled at her coach, she loved the American, although she was strange, she grew close to her over the time they've spent together. The two girls talked as they exited the building, but Ariana being clumsy, didn't watch where she was going and ran into someone, making her fall over, she landed on her butt with a hmph.
"I am so sorry! I didn't see you and..." But the person stopped mid sentence when she looked up to meet their gaze. Yuuri Katsuki was now freaking out. He just ran into Ariana Ivanov!
Ariana Ivanov! The rising female russian skater! She's amazing! And I just made her fall! What a great first impression!
The young female let out a soft chuckle as she saw the male's surprised face. Sarah helped her up as she dusted herself off.
"It is okay." She said, her russian accent still evidnet.
Yuuri looked up to face the young girl.
"I-uh. Hi."
The girl giggled as she looked at him to see if she knew him. Her mind clicked as she placed a hand on her hip while snapping her fingers.
"You are Yuuri Katsuki, the skater from Japan! Are you not?"
Yuuri let out a nervous chuckle as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Yeah that's me." he spoke sadly.
"Well, I think you did great tonight."
Yuuri's eyes widened in surprise as he looked up at the 14 year old girl.
"You...did?"
"Yes! Just because you got last, does not mean that you should give up. It just means that you need to try harder so that you can reach your goal!"
Yuuri's mouth fell open slightly as he stared at her, while his coach smiled.
"So don't give up just yet!"
"We gotta go, Ariana."
"Right! Almost forgot that we are going to Russia!" Ariana said as she faced Yuuri once more.
"It was nice to meet you Yurri Katsuki." She siad as she smiled and walked away.
***
Ariana was currently moving back to Petersburg, Russia after a whole year, and was finally going to be coached by Yakov again, she loved Sarah and her team back in America, but she missed her Russian friends, especially Yuri. The two have lost contact, and she wanted to surprise him so that the two could catch up on lost time. She sighed as she sat at the dinner table, with her mother sitting across her. The two haven't talked since the Finals. Ariana pushed her broccali around as her chin rested on the palm of her hand. Her mom lite a ciggarrete as they ate.
"Your preformance was shit."
Ariana said nothing as she looked down at her phone.
"That medal is going in the trash." She said as she puffed out smoke. Ariana's grip on her phone tightened.
"But I still got a medal." Ariana mumbled.
"That shit ain't gold is it?"
"No..."
"Then it means nothing to me."
"You're unbarable." Ariana whispered as she looked down.
"What the hell did you say?"
"Nothing."
"Well you said something. What the hell was it?" Lucy Ivanov as she stood up quickly. Ariana got up too.
"Say it you little bitch."
"Leave me alone."
Lucy then started to walk towards her, but Ariana quickly moved to the other side of the table.
"You think you're tuff shit now?"
"Stop..." Ariana whispered as she and her mother ducked eachother around the table.
"You're nothing. You're still the weak, sucky little shit I know."
"Stop..."
"Useless. Little shit!"
"You're unbarable!" Ariana yelled as her mother looked up at her and growled. And Ariana continued her rant.
"You're rude! Mean! Selfish! You're...you're a child abus-" But Ariana was cut off with a stinging sensation in her arm. Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked down to see that a knife was stuck in the upper part of her arm. She looked up to see her mother with angry eyes as she lowered her hand. Ariana looked back down at the knife that was stuck in her arm.
"Go to you're fucking room. You got practice tommorrow."
Ariana brought her other hand up as she pulled the knife out and slammed it onto the table. She glared up at her mother, who showed no signs of regret, and walked past her to patch up her arm before going to sleep.
***
The next day Ariana got ready for practice and headed out to the arena, with her mother in tow, the two were silent for the whole ride. Once they arrived to the arena, Ariana ran inside.
"Yakov!" She cried as she flung herself at her coach.
"Ariana." Yakov said as he tired to pry the crying teen off of him.
"It's good to see you."
"Yakov!"
"Lucy." Yakov sighed as Ariana let go, so that Yakov and her mother could talk, the blonde saw a familier red head on the ice.
"Mila!" The blonde teen yelled as the red head turned around, and her eyes widened.
"Ari!" Mila yelled as she skated over and hugged the life out of her.
"I missed you!"
"I missed you too, Mil!"
"What about me?"
Ariana turned around and laughed at how dramatic Georgi was being, before hugging him.
"Where is, Yuri?"
"You didn't hear?" Georgi asked.
"Hear what?"
"Yuri went to Japan." Mila said.
"What!?"
"Yeah, Victor quit so he could coach the Katsuki guy in Japan, so Yuri left to go bring him back." Mila explained.
"Oh my." Ariana spoke as her phone went off.
"Excuse me." She said as she answered it, "Hello?"
"Ariana! I hear you're back in Russia!"
"Victor?"
"The one and only."
"Why are you calling? And what's this about you coaching Katsuki in Japan?!"
"That is why I called you."
"Huh?"
"I hear you're going into the senior division next year, so I wanted to know if you would come down to Japan so I could help you prepare!"
Ariana's eyes widened in surprise.
"Really?"
"Of course! So what is you're answer?"
Ariana looked around.

"Great! I'll see you later today!"
Ariana sighed as she hung up and walked over to Mila.
"I'm going to Japan to trian with Victor...do not tell Yakov."

Ariana appeared infront of the ice rink in Japan, with her suitcase in tow, she noticed alot of people out front and knew that Victor was there. she sighed as she walked through the crowd.
"Excuse me." She spoke as people gasped, she was then stopped by three little girls.
"Hey! You can't go in there!"
"Aren't you the cutest things!" Ariana squeled as she crouched down in fornt of the gawking children.
"A-A-Ariana Ivanov!"
"Is Victor in there?"
"Yes, Yes. Please come in."
"So precious!" Ariana squeled as she pulled out her phone and hugged the three gilrs close to her before taking a picture.
"This is going on my instagram, thanks girls." Ariana said as she left the gawking girls.
Meanwhile with Victor.
"Tommorrow, I'll coreograph all three of you, to the same music I'm using in my short program."
"Huh!?" Yuuri said.
"The same music as him!?" Yuri asked.
"No, this piece has several different arrangements. I was trying to decide which one to use. I'll think of a different for each of you of course. I'll reveal the programs in onw week! You'll compete to see who can surprise the audience more!"
"Whoa! Let's take a step back here! I don't want to be punished for loosing..." Yuuri said.
"Victor will do whatever the winner says! If those are the terms, I'm in!" Yuri said.
"Great! I love that kind of thing!"
Yuri's eyes then widened in realization.
"Wait. You said all three of us. There's only two of us here, so who's the third?"
"Yeah, who else are you trianing?" Yuri asked as Victor's smile widened.
"It's a surprise."
"Victor!"
All three male skaters turned around as they heard a female voice, they saw a figure standing there, a hood covering their face.
"Ah! You made it!" Victor said.
A smile grazed the females lips.
The hooded figure then pulled off her hood, reveling blonde hair and bright green eyes. Causing Yuri's eyes to widened in shock.
"Ari..." he whispered as Victor looked at him and smiled.
Ariana gave the boys a closed eye smile.
"Long time no see, Victor."
