History project.

In Connacht, people refused to accept British rule. Most of 1798 was fought in sligo, mayo, leitrim(Connacht) and Longford(leinster)

Oliver Cromwell said "to hell or to Connacht" before this, so the British believed the people did not need as much protection.

Connacht mainly rebelled, an irish person with a few French soldiers beat them out of sligo, mayo, letrim and into Longford, where they were defeated at ballinamuck.

The French were allowed leave, but over 200-400 irish soldiers were hung from trees, the ropes still there today.
