I sat down with the strangers, the quite frankly, good looking stranger. We sit in silence, in awkward silence, nobody saying a word. Until one does, she.
Witch: You are a first. Quite, unique looking, I have never seen your kind before.
Draven: Because I am a one of a kind. You know, quite priceless. You should feel honored to speak with me.
Witch: I should? Well, if you say so, I am honored of strange stranger.
Draven: Name's Draven, and yours Ms?
Estrella: Estrella, nice to meet you.
Draven: Likewise. I noticed that you don't seem as cautious and scared of me as the others.
Estrella: For what reason do I have to fear you? Have you done anything to me or my friends that would make me feel scared?
Draven: Well, no, but...
Estrella: Well, I have no justified reason to be scared. You are a person, a stranger, a foe or friend, that is yet to be seen.
Draven: Well, most people are scared of my looks so I thought you would share the sentiment.
Estrella: Yes, you are different looking, but are you evil or scary, it is not up to me. I, myself, am not really liked mostly because to others I come of as cold, evil. Not many people have red eyes.
Draven: I noticed, red eyes are not normal for a human. Is it from magic or were you born with them?
Estrella: Born with them, I am mixed. I do have to say, yours are unique, I have never seen white eyes. The ones that have them are blind, well, not completely white but close. Your are more, lively.
Draven: A side effect it seems from my powers.
Estrella: I presume you aren't going to tell me what they are?
Draven: I will let you figure it out, it is in plain sight.
She chuckles, taking a sip from the drink she has and setting down the book, crossing her arms on the table.
Estrella: I saw you with two women, your uniform is as unique as you. Where do you come from?
Draven: We are refugees, running from a country that no longer exists. There is more of us but we are what remains of their leaders.
Estrella: I am sorry to hear that. I guess, welcome, to the Blitnarry, the school of arcane arts.
Draven: Thank you, I must say, it is quite amazing looking.
Estrella: Would you like me to show you around, I doubt that those talks will finish any time soon. Especially if they are meeting with the headmaster and the board.
Draven: Sure, I have nothing better to do anyway.
We both get up and walk out, side by side, we explore the school grounds. We are completely engrossed in our conversations that we ignore the stares and comments of others. We even laugh at times, she speaks of the stories that she has heard while staying here. She herself is one of the teachers, not a very liked one mostly because of her appearance. The place is quite nice looking I must admit, they have even a garden plot in which they grow things, whilst at the same time practicing magic. I offer her to show her my power and she immediately agrees so I lead her down the path from which we were led by that old lady. Talking and laughing, I can see that she is excited to see what power I posses. As we reach the shore she sees the massive vessel, parked, sitting on the water. She stares at it in awe.
Draven: There it is, well one of them.
Estrella: You command that Leviathan?
Draven: I am it's creator and master. It is a ship, not a living thing.
Estrella: That THING can't be a ship, no ship is that big and looks that weird. What is it built out of?
Draven: Steel.
Estrella: Steel?! How can it float, that amount of steel must make it weigh a lot.
Draven: Would you like to come on board?
Estrella: I can't believe you are even asking.
We walk closer to it, offering a hand to her I jump her and myself on board. There she sees the puppets and some of the civilians that remain. She takes in all of it, letting it process in that head of hers.
Draven: Touch it, you will see that it is steel.
She places a hand on the cold metal, feeling not only it's temperature but also the worn out texture. She can feel the power that it is created from, from what she told me, she was always sensitive to magic, able to feel it in her stomach, some made her sick while other calmed her down. This one seems to have done something completely different, her pale skin had become even paler, her eyes dilated, she seems to be in some kind of nightmare trance. I quickly separate her from the metal and she gasps, her hands shake.
Draven: Are you okay? You look like you had seen death.
Estrella: Y...Yes, I am fine. It's just. Tell me, from where does this power come from?
Draven: I was born with it, why do you ask?
Estrella: Have you had any visions, nightmares, anything?
Draven: No. Why are you asking this?
Estrella: It's nothing. Let us continue, I want to see more.
Draven: Are you sure that you are alright?
Estrella: Yeah, yeah I am. Let us go, forget that this happened.
Draven: Alright, if you wish so.
I show her around more, the inside of the ship, navigating the tight corridors leading to different parts of the ship. I show her the beating heart of the ship, the engines, they hum, working on their lowers potential. She inspects the quarters, amazed by the beds, such simple but ingenious design, maximizing the space. Overall she is amazed by this ship, but there is still that fear lingering, she saw something when she touched the ship and I wonder what. She looks like a tough woman, for her to be so scared that she stopped breathing, it must have been something really creepy and scary. I question the so called God that gave me this power, I don't think that was really his identity. But I looked through all the books and nowhere is such a being mentioned so whoever it was, they were not known to anyone. And what is their goal, what is their plan through me. However, as of late, I had felt strange, like something was going on with me, like a unknown power was pulling me to somewhere. But it subsided not long ago, disappeared all of a sudden. A puppet ran up to me, it looked to be in distress so me and Estrella walked up onto the top deck. It pointed to something in the distance, so I grabbed the monocular and looked at the direction it pointed. I saw a plume of smoke approaching in the distance and the cause of it, a ship. It was a small destroyer, looked of Japanese origin, maybe a Hatsuharu class. Someone else was gifted the same power I was.
Estrella: What do you see?
Draven: Something worrying. All sailors, man your stations.
The puppets scurry, getting into positions. Estrella looks at me in confusion, she doesn't know what is going on. As the ship approaches us it doesn't seem to be with ill intent, if it was, it would have launched torpedoes and fired it's guns long time ago. We are a sitting duck here. However, it then simply grind to a halt a couple miles away from us and I see the captain walk out, standing on the bow of the ship. I order the engines to be put on full power, to intercept the other one. Our propellers turn, we slowly at first head backwards but then put it on flank speed. As we inch closer my mind is awry with questions. Who are they? How, what? We slow down, our ships side by side, the two of us lock eyes. None speaking, none showing any emotion. The atmosphere makes the air thick from the tension. He himself is an elf and it appears that he had not gone through much change, unlike me. He salutes and I salute back. A smile forms on his lips.
Elf: Can I come on board?
I nod to the puppets and they lower a ladder for him. Once on board we are only a couple feet away, able to get a better look at him. Both of us examine each others appearance. He is tall, not as tall as me but your average elf, sharp face features, pointy ears, upright posture, a pair of green eyes. I am a little jealous of his beauty I must say.
Kahoda: My name is Kahoda.
Draven: Draven. I did not know there were others like me.
Kahoda: I too did not know, until I saw you.
Draven: Why did you come here? It wasn't without reason.
Kahoda: Some strange power guided me to here.
He must be speaking to the similar feeling that I had, but his one persisted.
Kahoda: I must say, you are, different from me.
Draven: I wasn't always like this. I was a human long time ago. Shall we head inside to discuss things.
Kahoda: I was hoping you would say that.
Draven: Estrella, I am sorry, but I must go and speak to him.
Estrella: I understand.
Kahoda and me head into the captains quarter where we would have privacy. We discuss each others appearance, then move on who we were before. As it turns out, he too was on Earth and died. An Indian who died in a conflict. Both of us are surprised that both of us come from Earth, creating a question, are there others like us. As the talks go on, he grabs my hand and looks at the symbol on my hand that appeared some time ago. It was a simple looking symbol but he sighed.
Kahoda: Damn, it seems you are higher rank than me,
Draven: What do you mean?
Kahoda: Well, you see, I asked the entity that gave me this power about ranks and such, he did tell me there were different. And the highest one, is the one that you have.
Draven: What do those ranks even do?
Kahoda: I am a simple servant, an Acolyte, you, on the other hand. You could be considered an Apostle, a Disciple.
Draven: That means we have a mission? A purpose I am guessing.
Kahoda: To bring into knowing that HE exists. Destroy that what needs destroying, the old and arrogant. You see, he told a couple interesting things. He is old but new to the God theater and long long time ago, he fought them.
Draven: He wants revenge.
Kahoda: It could be said, he wants to show the others the extent of his power. But at the same time, revenge against a single god. One that walks this world. You see, Gods normally don't exist in their worlds, but this one does. It gives them more influence, but it comes with a great risk.
Draven: They can be defeated.
Kahoda: Precisely, and loose their status. Demoted to a simple lowly immortal.
Draven: I am guessing you want us to work together.
Kahoda: It would be nice, you would get an ally and a friend, we could talk about many things. Plus we would be stronger together.
I take a moment to think about it. This is all news, so that explains my purpose and the purpose of my power. It wasn't given to me so that I could just live, it was given me to complete a task. Allying with him would be beneficial, not only would we become stronger, but at the same time, I would be able to speak with someone from Earth too.
Draven: Kahoda, I have to ask. Do you think there are others? Like us or similar to us.
Kahoda: Who knows, maybe. Maybe not with the powers like us, but from Earth, probably. It would be interesting to meet some, talk with them and befriend them.
I extend out my hand and it takes him a moment to realize but he shakes it, both of us nodding at each other.
Draven: It will be a pleasure working with you, comrade.
Kahoda: Of course, comrade.
