A year had passed since we started working here. All was going well, we built up an entire society, schools were blooming, standards of living were improving. I thought finally we managed to find a relaxed and good life. Oh how wrong I was. I stand on a dock, around me ruined buildings lay, battle rages on. Miriam lays dead, in my arms, Marie is mortally wounded, we are cornered. Yrelvia and Elonshe are somewhere, fighting off the invading forces. I tried, I really tried, but it seems none of the kingdoms wanted peace, they wanted war. So many innocents died, all because of hatred to all that is not the usual, all that came from the Demon world. The sea stretched out, the moon reflecting off the water, behind me fire and destruction, completely two different world. I was tasked of evacuating the civilians but now we have been cornered. We, what remains of the civilians. I concentrate my mind, it is full of anger and dread. If these bastard want war, then I will give them one. I summon a ship that has a lot of guns on it, the darkness molds into the fine shape as it lands onto the surface of the water, causing it to displace underneath it's weight.
HMS Agincourt. Fourteen guns, a lot of secondaries, a lot of firepower. The people stare in fear, wondering how I did it. I feel the power slowly stripping me of my humanity, over the year it felt like time over time, a piece of me was ripped apart. I order the wounded and the remaining civilians to board the ship and they listen, my puppets are seen getting into positions. With Miriam's body in my hands and Marie's being picked up by a orc we walk onto the ship. I will wait, in hopes that Yrelvia and Elonshe come. I wait and wait and see Elonshe, covered in blood, wounded but no Yrelvia. I had at the same time, changed my name, to something more fitting of a creature like me, Draven.
Draven: Elonshe, where is Yreliva?!
Elonshe: Sh...She.. She is.
I can see that she is struggling to say what I dreaded.
Draven: Get on, we are leaving.
She listens to my command and we slowly set off. I see the approaching enemy forces, they stand at the deck, wondering at the size of my vessel, if only they knew that this wasn't even the biggest. They shoot arrows, some ducking for cover but I don't, I stand on the bow of the ship, some nearly hit me, but I don't care. My blood boils, fueled by loss and anger I make my way to the bridge. Once there, I order the ship to go parallel to the city, to set all guns to the port. I watch them slowly rotate, through the old monocular I watch the shore. Once all the guns have been put into positions, secondary and primary I take a deep breath. At that moment I see Elonshe running up, concern written all over her face.
Elonshe: What is going on Draven?
Draven: Bear witness to my power, but I do warn you, it will be loud.
She seems really confused by my statement. But nevertheless, I take a deep breath once more.
Draven: Crew! Our enemies wanted war, give them war! Fire at will! Rain down hellfire!
The still water is quickly shaken up, the sound of shouting in the distance snuffed out by the thunderous sound of cannon fire. Elonshe ducks, holding onto her ears. The scenery of the city I spent time in is blocked by smoke, all I hear are explosions as shells make contact. I dark smile creeps upon my face at the simple thought of their bodies getting obliterated by the falling shells. I break out in a maniacal laugh, the simple thought of them dying, it brightens my day.
Draven: Hahaha, yes, fire! Fire! Don't let their loved ones have a body part to burry, let only puddles of blood return.
A shot after shot, the ship fires and fires, no shell is spared. Elonshe looks up, I can see the fear in her eyes as she looks into mine, she sees the last faint pulse of my humanity vanish, but I can't help but smile.
Draven: All crews, cease fire!
And just like that, the chaos is completely consumed by silence and stillness. The city I once called home now is nothing but ruble, completely leveled. Going back would not be wise. It saddens me to do this, but we must find another land to settle in. I order the ship to set course towards the moon itself, we shall sail in that direction. We have rations for some time, but I hope that we won't have to travel for long. Elonshe fears me now, she went into the hull, probably to check in on Marie, I shall stay at the bridge. And so, our voyage starts now, I can only hope that we reach some land. We sail for days, weeks even, Marie had recovered somewhat but I still had not seen her, I am scared. How will she react once she sees that the boy she once met is now long gone? Some of the demons had grown rather problematic, but most of those that caused trouble were thrown overboard. Left for their fate out in the sea. My eye color had changed, it is now a sickly white, many more tattoos had appeared on my body. Whatever I had become, I know that now, everyone fears me. Before they feared my eyes because they resembled a higher rank of a demon, but now, they are completely terrified. Even a Siren ran away once our eyes locked. I head down, into the hull, to see how Marie is doing, people move out of my way quickly. As I walk into the crew quarters where all the civilians are located I am reminded by desperation. The people now don't even dare to look at me, I was meant to protect them, for them to look up to me, but now, they only fear me. I see her and I expected her to have the same reaction, Elonshe has. But instead, she is shocked, worry spreads across her face. Her hands grab onto my head.
Marie: What happened to you?
Draven: I do not know, I had become something that even I can't figure out. I am guessing Elonshe briefed you on the current situation.
Marie: Yes, she did. I am sorry Draven, I wish there was something more that we could have done.
Draven: You all tried your best, now, we can only start anew. How are you feeling yourself?
Marie: Better, still a little sore but better definitely. Where is her body?
Draven: In a separate sealed room. She had started to rot but I do not have the heart to throw her into the sea. It would feel wrong.
Marie: I understand, I do. I hope we find land so we can give her a proper burial.
We make small talk, mostly we talk about our future. One of the puppets comes running up to me, signaling for me to follow and so I do. I walk up on the bridge, looking through the monocular. There is a disturbance on the horizon, which must mean some sort of land. Each mile we get closer I am able to confirm that it is actual land. I feel glad and let out a sigh of relief. From what I can see, it doesn't appear to have any civilization whatsoever. But as we approach even closer, I am able to see houses along the shore line, leading into the forest. It is best chance we have, we have to make contact, our people are in dire need of food. The day had just started, the sun shines down brightly so the chances of the populace being awake are high, but how will they react to us, is a whole different question. I head down into the ship again, if anyone would look friendly, it would be Marie.
Marie: Draven, what is going on?
Draven: We had spotted land, there is a sing of a civilization but I need you.
Marie: You want me to act as a diplomat in this scenario. I understand.
Draven: I know you still need to rest, but you are the only, 'normal' looking one, you are no demon or monster, you are a human.
Marie: Let's go up, Elonshe, you coming?
Elonshe: Yes.
The three of us walk up, onto the surface and walk up to the bow of the ship. Marie takes a moment to admire the ship, reveling in it's magnificence and it's might. She had probably heard of what this ship is capable of doing. I have my Webley Mk. VI, just in case. I trust no one, especially after Atheldarus betrayed us, he was the one that was a spy. As we approach the shore, we notice that there isn't a dock of such, a small platform that stands above the water. We see people emerge out of the woods, they all wear strange robes, they look like witches and wizards a little. We slow down, slowly drifting towards the shore, a large crowd had formed. We drop the anchor a short distance away from the coast, to fully stop ourselves. The small platform is a jump away from us, so I leap for it, once I had landed I catch Marie and Elonshe simply just jumps down. The crowd, upon seeing me all grab their staves and wands and point at us.
Draven: What kind of place is this?
Marie: I think, that this place is actually something that I didn't expect. A school for wizards and witches. Of all places to land. Hah.
From the crowd comes out a old lady, her age is clearly shown, wrinkled face and grey hair. She cautiously approaches us.
Marie: Greetings, we mean no harm. We are refugees, running away from a conflict.
The old ladies eyes dart between the three of us, but mostly at me. She scans me up and down, my stern posture, my hand on my hip, gripping something she probably had never seen.
Marie: My name is Marie, next to me is Elonshe and the big guy is Draven.
Old lady: Follow me.
We nod and follow after he, the young and old move away from me mostly. I can hear whispers and murmurs, comments made about me. We follow the lady into the forest along a pathway that sits next to a small river. We walk up to a large looking wood and stone building, it is built into a small cliff, there are tables and chairs outside. The students and professors all react to us negatively. But as we are about to enter, we are stopped by the lady.
Old lady: He is not allowed inside.
Marie: Draven, don't worry, we will be fine. Just wait outside.
I have no option but to listen to her, I watch them disappear behind a door. Looking around, the suspicious faces and gazes from the others, looks of disgust even. However, one catches my eye. A witch, she sits at a table, alone, sipping at some kind of drink and reading a book. Her eyes locked onto me, she smiles at me, she waves, inviting me over. This isn't the reaction I was expecting but I approach. As I get closer I notice that she is rather, striking. A black dress with long sleeves and open shoulders, but does thin out at the leg portion, becomes not fully transparent but you can definitely see under it. A large hat, raven black hair, a pair of red eyes, some diamond shaped earrings and a intense look. Sharp face features, yet, at the same time, gentle. I sit down with her, might as well, I have nothing better to do. At the same time, she does have rather nice breasts. Creepy but I do not care, I stopped caring about such things a long time ago.
