Broken
Anti was laying in a blanket nest in a chair that Jameson had made for him. It was so comfortable and fluffy and warm. How could he have resisted?
He had been snoozing most of the day, without a care in the world. Not even wondering how far along Marvin was with the potion. It had already been over a month since the incident.
Anti was making himself right at home.
Chase was looking a little more depressed than usual the last couple of days, Anti noticed. Whenever Chase walked in the room, he'd forget to pay Anti any attention. It sort of hurt Anti a little but he refused to seek out his love and attention first.
'Is he off loving on Sean's fucking cat instead of me?'
Marvin insisted that BB wasn't a threat to him but Anti was more and more unsure by the day.
Jameson was Anti's new favorite in the house. Henrik would pay Anti a little more attention and give him a treat here and there but Jameson did the most for him now since Chase was locked away in his own little world mumbling about his ex and whatnot.
Jackie still hated him, especially after him faking being hurt and puking on his mask. It took him forever to clean up his mess and wash out the stink of his puke.
Anti was very proud of himself.
But even Jackie wasn't in the house very much anymore, claiming he was busy doing hero work. Anti could sense he was lying, though.
What was Jackie REALLY up to?
Anti was curious. . . .
But not that curious.
Whenever Jackie came back home, they'd both share a glare at each other and Jackie would mumble something about him being fucking weird or a bad cat.
It still pissed Anti off.
'I'm not a bad cat'
He held a lot of resentment for the hero.
He wouldn't admit that his heart was a little broken that Jackie hated him so much.
But Jackie had started this war, not him.
Speak of the devil, Jackie walked in the living room and saw Anti on the chair in the bundle of blankets. Jackie crossed his arms and just gave Jameson a look, "Why is the cat in my chair?"
Jameson signed to him, 'You haven't been here for a while and you haven't sit in it for over a week. I just thought Anti would like it. He loves all the blankets.'
Jackie just glared at Anti, "I still don't like that we're calling it that. It's not Anti"
'Shows what you know' Anti thought to himself.
Jameson smiled, 'No, but it's the name that Marvin chose for him. I think it's cute'
"You think everything's cute, James." Jackie sighed and tapped on the chair, "Alright, your time in the chair is over. It's mine. Get up"
Anti wasn't budging.
Jackie growled, "Come on, cat. It's MY fucking chair. Now get UP"
Anti just growled in warning. He didn't want to move.
Jameson got up from his spot, 'Here, why don't you sit here instead?'
"No, this is MY chair and the cat can move and find somewhere else to lay it's fat ass on"
That did it.
Anti hissed at him.
Jackie snapped to glare at him, "Hey, watch it! I can still toss you out of here, cat! Get up before I make you!"
Anti glared at him with his ears back and growled loud and lowly.
"Alright, that's it" Jackie quickly grabbed Anti by his scruff so he couldn't attack him, tossed off the blankets and put Anti down on the floor.
He quickly sat in the chair with one leg over the other, giving Anti a successful smirk.
Anti . . . did NOT expect what just happened.
He was still bewildered.
Marvin had grabbed him by his scruff before but he more or less expected Jackie to just toss him.
He felt. . . . . like he was just shoved off a throne. If he was human, he'd say he felt emasculated by the way Jackie had grabbed him.
Jameson gave Jackie a disapproving shake of his head, 'Why'd you have to go and do that? He was so comfortable!'
"Yeah well maybe he needs to stop feeling so comfy around here. He needs a firm had or else he'll just keep getting away with everything. You guys are too soft with him"
Jameson just rolled his eyes and got up to go into the kitchen.
Anti stared at the fallen blankets on the floor. He really liked that nest.
He went over and tried to salvage what he could, moving them around but it was no use. It was a shadow of its former glory. He gave a sad little mew.
Jackie almost felt bad by the way he looked so upset about it, "Just lay in it. It's just blankets"
Anti hissed at him.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." he sighed and rubbed at his tired eyes, "You're so dramatic."
Jackie wouldn't admit it but sometimes he did feel kind of amused by him.
Anti was thinking about just going back upstairs when Chase walked in.
Anti wanted to show Chase the horrors that Jackie inflicted upon him and meowed loudly.
But Chase didn't even look at him. He just sat down on the couch with a heavy sigh and a beer in his hand. It looked like he had already been drinking for a while.
"Hey man" Jackie grunted, "You doing alright?"
Chase just hummed and took a swig of his beer.
Anti walked over to him and gently tapped Chase's knee just how he liked to try and get his attention.
It didn't work this time.
Anti tilted his head and meowed, 'Why isn't he paying me any attention? Am I invisible now, too?'
Even Jackie noticed the strange behavior, "I think your cat wants you"
Chase just hummed again.
Jackie knew what kind of day it was. Chase was drunk and in a mood.
Anti gave a sad mew and tapped his knee again but it didn't work. So he pulled out the big guns and put both his front paws on Chase's knee and gave a big stretch with a little grunt.
Normally it would have Chase swooning but not this time.
Chase kicked him off of him, "Get the fuck off. Go bother someone else, stupid cat"
Anti looked as if he had just been beaten. He hadn't expected Chase to kick him away and fell over on his side. He looked sad beyond belief, his ears flat against his head and eyes wide and sad with his tail between his legs.
'What? What did I do?' he didn't understand. Did he do something wrong to make Chase hate him?
"Hey man, leave the cat alone" Jackie suddenly felt protective, "He's just trying to love you"
"Fuck off" Chase scoffed, "Nobody fucking loves me. Stupid cat can fuck off, too. Only likes me for food"
Anti gave another sad mew, picking himself up. Anti really didn't understand. He had never felt anything like this before.
His heart felt. . . so BROKEN.
Jackie rolled his eyes and got up, "God, I fucking hate it when you're like this. Get out of your self-pity party and wake the fuck up."
"Fuck off"
He picked up Anti in his arms and walked out of the room with him.
Honestly, Anti didn't even feel in the mood to fight it. He just let Jackie carry him out in his arms, feeling absolutely miserable.
'Why does Chase hate me? What did I do?'
He wanted to cry but found that since he was a cat, he couldn't. So he just cuddled into Jackie's arm and buried his head in the crook of his elbow.
Jackie pet him lightly, "Hey, it's okay. . . . Chase doesn't really hate you. He's just upset because of something Stacey said to to him the other day. Won't let him see the kids for a while."
Anti didn't budge.
"He'll feel like himself again soon. Just give him some time." he felt like he was consoling a child.
When Anti pulled his head out of Jackie's arms, he found that Jackie had brought him to Marvin's door and knocked on it.
Marvin answered and immediately looked worried, "What happened?"
Jackie gave Marvin the cat, "Chase was drunk and in a mood and kicked him. I don't think he's hurt but he seems pretty sad about what happened."
Marvin gasped, "Oh my god!" he held Anti up in his hands, "Are you okay? Poor thing"
"Yeah. . ." Jackie cleared his throat, "I'll be in my room. Just warning ya. Don't go downstairs unless you wanna get yelled at by a drunk today"
"Got it. Thanks. See ya later, Jackie"
Marvin closed the door and was still surprised Anti wasn't talking.
He sat on his bed, still holding him, "Hey. . . . wanna talk about what happened?"
Anti curled up in his arms, breathing in Marvin's vanilla body spray, " . . . . . . Chase hates me"
"Jackie told me what happened" Marvin pet him softly, sensing he needed coddled, "Chase doesn't hate you. He's just drunk and sometimes, people who are drunk do a lot of bad things they end up regretting. I'm sure soon he'll be back to his old self again and just SHOWER you with all the love in the world like you're used to" he chuckled lightly.
Anti shook his head, his ears flat. He buried his face in Marvin's chest, refusing to look at him, "No, he won't. He hates me forever now. I did something wrong. I know I did. I ruined everything.. . . I always ruin everything"
Marvin felt his heartstrings snap, "Oh, Anti . . . it's not like that. I promise you, it's not. It'll be okay"
Anti didn't believe him.
Jackie didn't feel like staying in the house anymore. He left again to go back on his hunt.
Contrary to popular belief, Jackie wasn't out looking for crime or trying to be a hero.
He was looking for someone.
'He hasn't been seen in way too long.' Jackie thought to himself, 'He hasn't popped in the house in a long while. Something's happened.'
Jackie had searched everywhere but he wasn't about to give up. There hadn't been any sightings of him and that worried him. Was he planning something?
'Where are you, Anti?' Jackie wondered to himself, 'What happened to you?'
