I let myself fall apart in his arms, hoping for him to collect my broken pieces. He put his biceps around me, holding me close to him until our breaths mingled long after his lips left mine, and I was still not over the shock.

I could see the smile on his lips illuminating my entire room, his thumb drew doodles on my back and I wasn't sure where exactly was he staring, but eyes kept looking into mine.

"Myra yaar—........" Ishan's voice faded as he entered the room and saw the two of us and I jerked him away from me, standing straight.

I was nervous, staring everywhere but not meeting his eyes while Abeer hardly seemed to be caring. His eyes rolled and he yawned before facing Ishan. "Sorry I was just finding something." Abeer lied, conveniently but I knew Ishan wasn't having it as he crossed his hands against his chest, leaving on the opened door.

"Finding something? In Myra's eyes?" Ishan smirked. I was embarrassed as I pursed my lips together to break the smile and the redness from breaking out.

"Ass. Get out." Abeer ordered and Ishan's smirk just grew wider.

"Okay. Let me just go out and tell Aarav what I saw here. You know Aarav's kickboxing skills are better than yours right?" Ishan was still smirking as he turned behind and my eyes widened.

"Ishan" I called, the first words since he came here. Ishan turned, trying to stop his smile and covering the naughtiness glancing in his eyes. Ishan winks at me.

"Why don't you take Abeer out with you too?" I say, trying to stop the laugh from coming out as Abeer's eyes widened.

"Really? You want me to go?" He asks turning towards me with a look of disbelief and I maintain the straight face as I nod.

"Ofcourse I do. I mean, I need to sleep too. And what would you do here as I sleep?" I raise my eyebrows.

"I hope you're done finding whatever you were finding cause you're not staying in here any longer. We're sleeping too!" Ishan said, putting a hand round Abeer who stood with a helpless expression as he was dragged out.

Abeer looks at me with a helpless expression and I just raise my eyebrows and shoulder, shrugging casually as I closed the door behind the boys and a big smile covered my lips as I jumped onto my bed, hugging the large mud brown teddy bear I called Coco.

I might not have got any answers of the questions that kept floating in my mind, but I felt fine, I felt happy, I felt content after so many nights as I tossed and turned trying to catch some sleep but all I caught instead was thoughts about him. And this time, I did not stop my mind either.

"What is this?" Ishaan raised an eyebrow as he pressed a finger to my wound on my lip and I hissed in irritation, taking his hand off my face.

"Who did this to you?" Aarav asked, finally leaving his phone aside as he came back from the balcony to the room and noticed the cut on my lip with dried blood.

"This wasn't there when you came here. What happened then? I didn't punch you, Ishan didn't. Did you punch yourself then?" Aarav asked. Why did he have to be such a Sherlock Holmes?

"No one, it's just a mosquito bite." I shrugged, trying to find better excuses.

Ishan smirked, "I think I know who this mosquito is. She's beautiful for the record."

I gave him a fake smile, settling myself on Aarav's bed. "Myra did this?" Aarav was shocked and as I nodded a slight nod, he burst out laughing.

"Oh my god! I'm so proud of her." He said between laughs and as I glared at both of them, they shut up.

"But well, what did you do?" Aarav had to ask.

"Nothing really." I said, coughing.

"She isn't the girl who would punch someone to do nothing," Ishan raised an eyebrow. Why God, why?

"I swear to God I did nothing. But I did reply back for the punch," I smiled, dreamily.

"You punched her back?" Ishan said, in the most unbelievable voice.

"You punched a girl." He accused again and Aarav was on his toes as he sat beside me, raising an eyebrow.

"Are you crazy, I'd never raise my hand on her girl. I kissed her." I smiled dreamily.

"You did what?" Aarav's voice raised. Was he deaf?

"Kissed her." I said shouting in his ears but just after I completed, another punch landed on the other side of my lips and one shout kept echoing in my ears.

"YOU KISSED MY SISTER" His voice was shrill. Yes I did.

My eyes had barely remained close for twenty minutes when I felt my bed being pressed down, someone's strong presence beside me.

My eyes flung open as in reflex I grabbed the jar from the side of the table, aiming it at the suspected person but my hand was held midway and the side lights went on, a hand covering my mouth.

"Relax Myra, it's me!" I heard Abeer breath as I left the jar on its place and got up on my bed, still panting and collected my hair to one side. He sat on my bed beside me too and I stared at him with big eyes.

My hand automatically reached the wound on the right of his lip and he hissed as I took my hand off, apologising.

"You left with one, came with two?" I asked, as I got off my bed and took the medical box the side cupboard, and then came to my bed again.

He stared at me, blank. "Your brother...." he smiled a little and I giggled as I put the antiseptic to the cotton and slowly wiped the dried blood from the wound, kneeling to be taller than him.

"I'm sorry...." I had to say. He was hurt, and bleeding.

"No way, babe. I deserved it." He said and I nodded to myself in disbelief as I cleared the dried blood off.

"How did you get in here?" I asked, aiming the cottons to the dustbin, a few feet away and it went exactly in. I smiled in victory turning back to him as I pushed the medical box to the side table beside the lamp.

"I sneaked in" He smirked and I raised my eyebrows. Liar.

His smirk disappeared knowing he was caught. "I asked your brother and best friend for permission, and they allowed me for an hour when I promised them that I'd keep my hands off you." He accepted.

I smiled, turning around in disbelief as his hands gripped my waist pulling me and before I could realise, he was almost lying over me. "But I love breaking promises," he said in the huskiest manner possible and my smile disappeared the moment his words registered into my mind.

Looking at my smile fading away, He rethought his words again and as they made its way into his mind, his hands left my waist and he got up, and I followed him.

"We need to talk," he said and the atmosphere suddenly turned gloomier. None of us were smiling.

"We need to." I said, nodding.

"In the balcony?" He asks and I nod as we both get up, and I follow him into my balcony. I had the best balcony in the entire house because as a kid, I was very fond of star gazing, so Dad built me this big balcony with a huge matress in the shade to lay low so that I can sat gaze whenever I wanted.

"So....." He says. "About the past"

And the moment was here before I even realised it.

"I am not perfect Myra, I make mistakes like every other human. And I've made a lot of mistakes. But I'm not running away from there I swear, I'm here to take responsibility," he whispered as he took his hand into mine slowly, after we sat on the white mattresses.

"I'm not going to lie to you. We were kids when I left, and after a few years, I found that promise too silly to follow. But I couldn't like anyone else, and I always thought that was because I made you a promise and I was guilty I wasn't keeping it. I tried talking to you when I came to India, but you were always away and busy with camps. I knew you were avoiding me and that made me believe more that it was because of whatever happened the day I left. It made me more guilty."

"I was suffocating all these years, Myra. And I didn't know why. I tried having so many girlfriends but nothing worked, and I believed that was my guilt. But it wasn't. When I came here and saw you after eight-ten years, I realised that was because it was you. It was always you, princess. No one else." He squeezed my hand tighter as he put a hand around my shoulder and I kept my head on his chest, closing my eyes and listening to his heart beat.

"And then when I saw you with Krish, I was angry. I knew I hadn't kept my promise, but I couldn't move on either. It triggered me to know if you had moved on and was I the only one there. And I tried asking you a lot of times, but you didn't tell me so I had to do it this way and then I got punched. By you and your brother if I might add." He said and I giggled.

"But not that I have any complaints because I got to kiss you after that." He teased and I playfully hit my elbow to his chest and he pulled me even closer.

"So now, you tell me. What are we, Myra?" He said, slowly breaking apart from me as his face faced mine.

"You're my brother's best friend." I whisper.

"That's it. Am I no one else to you?" He whispers back, pain flashing in his eyes and I felt bad. My heart ached.

"Whom would you want to be?" I tease, a small smile playing on my lips. He smiles back.

"I just want us to be together this time. I want to get to know you all over again. I want to fall in love with the smallest details about you, even your nerdy talks and your mood swings. I want to see where we go, Myra," he says looking into my eyes and I smile, nodding as my eyes glistened.

"Be my girlfriend?" He asked. A tear drop almost slipped and he wiped it from my under eye, his thumb brushing my cheek as his palms held my face.

"I will." I whisper almost pouncing at him for a hug which makes him lose his balance as he falls behind on the matress with me almost above him.

He laughed, collecting me in his arms as he held me close and we stared at the stars.

"I don't believe this. We've come a long way, isn't it?" He asked and I nod. "A very long way."

"And I'm so excited to see where we go. There's so much I want to know about you, I want to know everything all over again." He turns his face at me and I smile.

"Is your favourite colour still black?" He asks and I nod. "You haven't changed a lot, maybe we don't have to start all over again." He winks and I giggle.

"And yours is red?" I ask. He nods and I nod back, enchanting smiles covering both our faces.

"You're so beautiful." He says and I blush as he tucks a hair strand behind my ear. "So so beautiful, that there's a sky full of stars, and I still can't stop looking at you."

I smile, digging my head into his chest as he kisses my frown and I get lost in his warmth and scent. He was always the one for me.

Just then, his phone rings and he wriggles to get it out. The caller flashes my twin brother's name and I smile to myself as he accepts it, putting it on speaker.

"Abeer, your time's up. The alarm has rung, I need you in my room within a minute!" Aarav demands and Abeer groans in irritation. I laugh, unbelievable my twin put an alarm to check when the one hour Abeer got was over.

"Please can I stay a little longer? Please? Promise I'd be in your room before morning." Abeer almost begs. What a treat to watch. I suppress my smile and he glared at me while I shrugged.

There was a long silence from the other end. "Fine. But you're not touching my sister okay, maintain a safe distance." He warns.

"I promise." Abeer immediately accepts with a goofy smile on his face.

"And this time, I'm keeping my promise." He says, his eyes at me as I smile and he smiles back genuinely.

Aarav cut the call and Abeer faced me. It's going to be so difficult facing my twin tomorrow, why does Abeer always end up making me feel awkward.

"So Myra," Abeer smirked as he threw his phone aside. "Who's Krish?" He raised an eyebrow and I try my best to maintain the serious face.

"He's cute na?" I raise an eyebrow too and he glared at me.

"Who's he?" He asks again, in a calmer voice this time.

"Studying medical with me, senior year. An amazing friend and super hot!" I teased as he glared in anger.

"You find him hot? I felt he looks like a girl. I bet he's gay." Abeer cursed and I couldn't stop myself from laughing.

"You find it funny? I don't." He snaps, seriously and I laugh more.

"He's just a friend, Abeer." I say, smiling ear to ear.

"I know he is for you, baby." Abeer turns to his stomach and looks at me. "But I've seen the way he looks at you. And being a boy myself, I'm afraid because that's the way I'm looking at you now. Are you sure he considers you as a friend?" He asked. I was about to nod but then I didn't want to start a new relation on the basis of lies.

"He might have established a few months back that he had a crush on me...." I say in a slow voice.

"And?" He raised an eyebrow. He knew me so well even after not being here for years.

"And I might have promised him that I will try for us because I was very frustrated that I couldn't get my mind off you." I complete in a low voice and Abeer's eyes widen.

"What?" He almost shouts. "Come on girl, you didn't do that! You're teasing me right?" He asked. I sheepishly nod negatively.

"We're meeting him tomorrow, okay? Actually, i'm coming to your college with you. I'm to go and announce that you are my girlfriend so all those guys can get their eyes off you. Is that okay?" He almost orders and I take a deep breath, nodding as I keep my head on his chest.

He sighed, calming down. "I'm sorry, I just overreacted. I was scared you'd choose him because well... he hasn't given you crazy promises and never followed them. Only stupid boys would let go a girl like you, and like I said, I was an idiot" he says and I smile, nodding. It feels great to be praised, doesn't it?

"But it was always you. It will is you, and it will always be you," I whisper and he pulls me close, slowly kissing my temple.

"I'm settling back in India. Taking over Dad's company, I just have to go for the graduation ceremony after a month. So all my time is yours!" He whispers and I smile.

"Would you like to go on a date with me tomorrow?" He asked and my eyes twinkle.

"Of course I would." I smile back, enthusiastically.

"I would have loved to kiss you, but I won't. I want to do it right this time." He whispers and I sigh, breathing in his scent.

"You can sleep. I'd carry you inside later." He says and I nod. Although I wanted to stay up and talk all night, it was already past four and sleep did look like a tempting offer after studying all day.

I snuggle into his chest as covers us in a thin duvet. "Don't leave, stay" I whisper before shutting my eyes and hugging him tighter as I drift off to sleep.

"I'm not leaving this time, baby. I'm here to stay. I'm promise you that and this time, I'm keeping my promise." He whispers and I smiled in half sleep as I got carried away to the best sleep I've had in years, being surrounded by his warmth and love.

A sky full of stars,
And he still stared at her.

That's where their chapter ends.

I hope you liked their short story. After I'm done with all the bonus chapters, I'd give one showing where they reached after a few years for sure.

[I know a lot of you expected One Step Closer to be a continuation of this Myra and Abeer's story, but it isn't. The character names are the same and of the other's as well. It's the spin off to Humesha. I wanted it to make it a continuation of this story but that couldn't be possible since I had already written it here. Please do give it a try, I promise you'd love it just as much as you loved this Myra and Abeer.]

And now we start with Bonus Chapter 2 series. Here is a plain insight into the story track:

I held her hand, twisting it behind her as she hissed in pain, leaning to the wall.

"It was just one week. We promised we'd never talk about it again!" I snapped, and her eyes glistened, watering up.

"Then why are you here? Why are you back into my life when I finally took a step ahead to move on. Why are you breaking me again, Aarav?" Her voice broke down, piercing my heart as I left her.

"We promised it would be just one week of us, Aarav. But that one week broke me, completely!" A tear drop slipped off her eye. I wish I could tell her how I felt the same.

"Then give me one more week!" I whisper, and she looked at me, shocked.

"Give me one more week to collect all your broken pieces and mend what I had broken a year back. And after that, we pretend like nothing ever happened, and go on without these bitter feelings." I propose.

She stares at me for a blink minute before she takes a step ahead, and looks into my eyes. "Deal."

Whom do you think is the girl, yeah? ;)

I'd see with you Bonus Chapter Two soon!

Lots of love until then,
Heer. xx
