Maria was fitting in well with our little travel family. She got along great with Sarah, Y/N and I were happy that Sarah finally had someone for her to play with. We grew closer and closer to Maria by the day, but with the new information that she gave us we worry for not only our lives but our little girl's lives. My father was out there, I knew it was too good to be true. He lied to me, again! I just wanted to run off screaming. But Maria doesn't know much about us yet, I don't plan on explaining to her everything any time soon. 

"Sam can I speak to you alone for a moment?" Y/N asked me, I nodded once and we turned to Maria.

"Maria can you watch Sarah?" I asked. Maria nodded and turned back to Sarah.

Y/N and I walked away from the girls and out of ear shot, but close enough where we could see them both.

"Why have you been so jumpy lately? Do you not trust Maria?" Y/N asked me.

"No it's not that, I'm happy to have another daughter. I'm just stressed that we are already struggling with food and we don't have any money," I lied. She didn't know my father was Stanley. It was just a little detail I never told.

"What about all that jewelry and stuff you found on the train?" She asked me.

"Fake, only the gold was real and we used all of it on food," I replied before sighing loudly. Y/N looked down awkwardly but looked back up and connected our hands.
I pulled her close and she wrapped her arms around my waist while I rested my chin on her head.

"I love you, remember that." She whispered. I didn't reply.

"We'll get through this, I promise."
