Chapter Eight: The abandoned train
"I feel like exploring nearby today, what do you think?"
Y/N asked me, smiling at me from across the room.
We were in our hotel room and weren't in an argument anymore, I guess Y/N was just a little annoyed about something around the time we were arguing. I was seated on our bed putting my brown boots on.
"That sounds fun, where should we explore?"
I replied.
"I saw an abandoned train station not far from here, I thought we could check it out. Who knows what stories it holds,"
She replied.
"Sounds interesting, when would you like to leave?"
"Ten minutes would be nice, it'll take at least half an hour to get there and we don't know how long we'll be there, I'd rather not walk in the dark,"
Y/N replied.
"I got an idea, how about on our way there we go hunting and just spend the night there? The place could be haunted, making it an even bigger adventure,"
I suggested.
"I like the way you think, and we won't have to pay for another night at the Inn,"
She replied, smiling.
"Okay I'll check us out and grab us breakfast, can you pack our stuff please?"
I asked her.
"Yeah I can do that, I'll meet you downstairs shortly,"
She replied. I nodded and walked out of our room.
It took us about an hour to make it to the abandoned train station. There wasn't any prey out right now, they were all hiding. But luckily I was able to grab some fruit, cheese, and milk at the Inn. If we find a stream I can clean the milk bottle and fill it with water.
The train station, sure enough, was definitely abandoned. There weren't any people for miles. There was one old, rusty, black train with blue carts. One was empty, but it seemed to once hold coal or something.
"Where are we supposed to sleep? I'm used to the ground but that bed was so comfortable."
Y/N asked me.
"Let's try and see if any of these carts open, let's hope the rust didn't get to them,"
I replied, setting my belongings down.
I walked up to one of the carts and pulled on the handle. It didn't give in at first, so I put all my strength into it and pulled it open. Cold air blew against my face. Inside there were boxes stacked on top of each other, mold growing over them. I wrinkled my nose in disgust.
"Sam! Over here!"
I grabbed my stuff and walked over to where Y/N was standing. She had opened one of the carts near the back, inside there were little rooms.
"This train used to hold passengers as well."
She told me happily.
I climbed up into the train followed closely by Y/N. This place was more oddly clean, it didn't have a foul smell like the cart I looked into. This cart had many clean rooms, in dirt wise there was still some trash lying around.
"I think we should stay here."
I told Y/N.
"Well obviously in less you found something better,"
Y/N replied.
"No I only found way worse,"
I replied.
"It can't be that bad,"
She replied.
"Trust me, you don't want to go in there,"
Shoot! I shouldn't have said trust, I know she doesn't trust me.
Is she going to say anything?
I thought to myself.
"Okay, I"ll take your word for it,"
She replied, giving me a sweet look.
I was surprised she didn't say anything more, even after I said trust. I guess I should tell her soon, she's definitely not working for him. He wouldn't go this far to bring me home. I know him too well. I know I didn't kill him, it's too obvious he's out seeking revenge. But I don't know Y/N's story either. I just hope I can get far enough and he'll never find me, or I can also hope he'll come into my life weak and I can kill him off easily so I don't have to worry about him the rest of my life like a sword hanging over my head.
I walked into one of the rooms and saw two very small beds with no sheets or blankets. They were the type of beds that weren't meant to be perfect, just the right size to fit on a train where passengers will be traveling overnight. "Do you want to sleep in here? We can try hunting later,"
I suggested.
"That sounds good, I saw a stream not far from here so I'm going to go take a bath and catch some fish."
Y/N told me, grabbing her sphere.
"Okay, I'm going to look around this train and see if I find anything interesting,"
I replied. She nodded and walked out of the train.
I walked towards the end of the train and into another cart. Disgusting. Quickly ran through there, disgusting again. Ran through there. This happened a few times. I opened a door to another cart and walked in, it was somewhat clean. It had many boxes in it, without mold on them this time. There was some crumpled pieces of paper lying around. I picked up a newspaper and started reading the front page.
"Young girl dies on train,"
The headline said.
There was a picture of this very train alongside a picture of a little girl, looks to be around ten years old. The little girl had long black hair, very curly. Her eyes were a sky blue and her skin was pale. She wore a simple brown dress in the picture. I read the articles beside the pictures.
Alice Barnes, age nine, boarded a train with her parents Christine Barnes and Thomas Barnes along with her little sister, Sarah Barnes. There is no clear answer as to how poor Alice died, she was found lifeless in her room. There were no wounds and no one on the train had any weapons.
"Alice had no illness when we boarded the train or when we were on the train, I refused to let people touch my daughter so we will never know what happened to her. It is possible though she was poisoned, by who? We sadly don't know," Christine Barnes said.
It is a tragic accident as to what happened to poor Alice, because of this accident many people stopped traveling by train causing the company to go out of business.
Everything else I couldn't read from the paper being wet once before.
I was curious as to how this paper got here but I guess I'll never know.
I felt sorrow for the little girl, she had such a short life.
I set the paper down and walked over to the boxes and opened one. Inside there were clothes and jewelry. I pulled out a small blue diamond. It was beautiful. I set it down and kept looking. Pearls, white and black ones. I pulled those out and put them in my satchel along with the diamond. I continued digging and found a piece of paper.
"Train station shuts down!"
Another article about Alice,
I thought to myself.
I found a small brown notebook and opened it, all the pages were blank. I put that in my bag. Maybe I could start a journal and write about Y/N and I's adventures. I continued digging and found some brown cotton pants along with a cut shirt.
These might fit Y/N,
I thought to myself.
I found some chain mail and held it up to the brown cloth. I might be able to sew these together, I learned how to sew when I was younger.
I set the clothes inside and saw there was nothing important left. I opened another box and looked inside. I found gold coins, silver coins, and copper. Copper isn't worth as much but gold and silver were definitely really handy. There was some more old clothing and a few framed black and white photos. Nothing else too important.
Who left all of this here?
I opened another box and found a small white crystal. I quickly put it in my satchel. This almost seemed too good to be true. This couldn't possibly be bandits. They're too smart for this, leaving all of this valuable stuff unguarded. I looked through the rest of the chests, the only valuable thing I found was a bunch of copper coins. I decided to start heading back to where Y/N and I were sleeping only to find Y/N wasn't there. I walked back outside and looked around. Luckily enough, I found her sitting on top of one of the carts. I climbed up a small black ladder and climbed onto the roof. I made a running start and jumped over the small hole in between carts to the cart Y/N was on and sat down beside her.
"Hey,"
She said to me.
"Hey,"
"You're probably wondering what I'm doing up here,"
"Yep,"
"I kind of just wanted to think, this seemed like a good spot. It's nice up here,"
She explained.
"I can see why you like it up here, the view is beautiful,"
I told her, looking at her face.
"Yeah it is,"
"I don't just mean the forest, y'know,"
I told her. She looked at me and blushed.
I placed my hand on top of hers and lifted it up, kissing it gently.
"I do care about you, you know that right?"
She asked me.
"Yeah I do, I just have a hard time believing it,"
I replied.
"Why?"
"Just with my past it's hard to believe,"
I replied with a sorrow look on my face, I looked down and sighed heavily.
"When are you going to tell me about your past?"
She asked me, not harsh as she normally does. This one was more quiet and loving, caring.
"When I'm ready, I hope for it to be soon,"
Hai!
This one chapter took me two hours and thirty seven minutes XD
What is it with me writing these things in class? My friend is here reading some bts smut, every time I look at her computer I get disturbed. Then my daughter is on the other side of me just doing her work like the good girl she is. My teacher was sitting right next to my daughter and didn't realize my friend was reading inappropriate stuff XD
Friend: I'm writing a fanfic for Dr Dre. It's V X Her
Me: Okay I can help *reads title and wants to die* I have no words for what I read XD
And I'm actually helping her write it! Then I'm helping Katie write a fanfic too ^_^
Yo Munchy I'll help you with Ally!
Ye you guys can come to me if you need help with writing. I should really start writing The Mask again with my friend. I'll text him and see if he does. Also! I forgot to mention! The train station was inspired by A LOT of BTS's MVS. There's a theory that it's like their hide out. I just liked the idea of an abandoned train with history so ye. It's better than the old chapter that was only like, 300 words -.-
Bai guys
